he gives excellent. advice to people like me( piano students) basically don't cut corners. don't approximate stuff. learn the foundations of what you're doing.
Thank you so much for this upload!!! Oh how I wish I could just turn on the radio today and hear a program like this. If anyone know of a good jazz podcast or radio show plz reply i think many ppl would appreciate it.
@GustavUppercut NPR. I don't know what its like in any other state but here in South Florida, you turn on 91.3 on weekdays between 10-2ish for some serious jazz being played. Its incredible. Listen to it all the time.
@GustavUppercut: Since you live in Sweden you may wish to check if National Public Radio broadcasts are available there. They can be heard in several locations in Europe. Of course, you can always listen online as they make their programing available on the Web.
Ya'll should listen to the original played by Ellington and you'll appreciate Evans' version even more for how different it is. Voicings between the two are different, but I like how Evans keeps the original tune. love 8:52 to the end. Beautiful.
I am pleasantly shocked to find my favorite Bill Evans cover of Duke Ellingtons composition, no less as an interview with the great Marian McPartland, in her younger years, as I am more familiar with her later broadcasts. She sounds like a young girl here. It is priceless to hear these two collaborate!
Pick up a copy of Bill Evans' "New Conversations" and you'll hear a 7 minute version of "Reflections in D". One of the most beautiful pieces of music you'll ever hear.
