The sound quality in most early felix talkies are actually comparable to the others made at the time. One reason why it is so awful in the video is that it is played at the incorrect speed. It should be played at a 30 percent faster speed, and that the versions you normally see are from TV prints, the originals I am sure sound much crisper.
So these are the infamous "talky" versions I always hear about...
Really makes me wonder how they got such awful recording equipment back then. Seems these days you can build better sounding mics with your bare hands.... Ah well. still fun cartoons as always. Thanks for posting!
yes, but see. even back then pat sullivan's studios couldn't afford the same quality recording equipment that places like disney did, so the quality is especially low in these felix cartoons. Not to mention they started making talkies years after disney was making them. Sullivan's stubborness along with his cheapness at the were the nail's in felix's coffin then

Well, the first Cartoon to have sound back then was only in 1929 (Same year)... So not much a surprise that it wouldnt have HiDef sound.
