I did the takeoff (instructor handled the rudder during it) then once we exited the patern we just flew around for an hour, enjoying the scenery. He complimented my smoothness, and also said it was good that I kept my head outside the plane unlike a lot of sim flyers. Apparently people can't figure out the trim lol, because he was surprised that I figured that out pretty much instantly, probably courtesey of flight sims and RC airplanes. I flew until 5 miles from the airport, then CFI landed.
@MrWarlover777 Yes... normally, you cannot start flight lessons until you are at least 14 years old. Even then, you cannot solo, which is vital in obtaining your private pilot's license, until you are 16 years old. But keep flight in your mind and play simulators whenever you can, because they help a lot. I felt that I knew what was going on when first stepped into the cessna just because I had played flight simulator and recognized all of the gauges.
@MrWarlover777 you only need to be 11 to Start Flight lessons, i found that out on About 4 different sites, you just need to be Tall Enough to reach all the controls
@MrWarlover777 Go for it dude! There are some aviation schools you can attend, a bit like scouts only in aviation. The sooner you learn the easier it will become.
@MrWarlover777 I have known many KIDS at 16 who have started to learn to fly. There is a lot of information you can read about on the NET and in books to learn before you start. Flight simulators also will help.
My first flying lesson was great. We only had a 20 min pre-flight briefing and I had never been in a light plane before so that made it much more fun. I got to do a partial take off, then once we were up in the air, the instructor optained some altutude, then hands the controls over to me and told me to do various movements and told me to fly to various destinations we could see. We then ended it off with a 60 degree turn which was great. I then got to do a partial landing aswel.
I'm 15 and have been wanting to get my license for a few years now...and I'm finally starting to get enough money to start getting lessons etc. I was wondering tho, I dont quite have enough cash to get my flight lessons, but I would like to get the book end of it to study until I get the rest of the money to get the lessons. Does anyone have any idea where I could get the books?
@jjtrucks There are 5 volumes of "The Air Pilot's manual" by Trevor Thom, you can probably buy these from several places online, I found them in my local library to save the money, might be worth a look before buying, however you should probably buy a new version of avaiation law (volume 2) as it has recently changed.
@jjtrucks Don't only look up Trevor Thom though. Also consider Jeremy Pratt, his books are generally considered to be a bit more enjoyable to read whilst providing equal quality of learning.
Went for my first (of hopefully many) today. I was fine for the most part, but then all of a sudden I started to feel quite hot/sick mid-flight. Was quite annoyed at that coz I was really enjoying it, I don't really know why I got so sick all of a sudden. >:\
Ah well, I hope to do it again sometime, hopefully that won't happen twice. xD
good and congrats! just make sure you don't stall and crash...the dangers of aviation are: stall spin during traffic pattern, icing on wings/tail stabilizer, inclement weather including thunderstorms and huge wind gusts, jet wash (never follow a big plane), mid-air collision (including trees), not preparing for potential emergencies like engine failure (always choose pleasant terrain underneath in your flight plan), running out of fuel, ignoring preflight check, etc.
@chris5812341234 Well if you are coming up to New Hampshire, I could recommend 10. But I would recommend my instructor, as he charges $100 an hour wet in a Cessna 150. If you have your own plane to fly in, it's $30 an hour. Great Guy.
Not to mention get MS Flightsim (FS2002 and up), and as with this aircraft type, get Dreemflight`s detailed Cessna 172. Fly that a lot - doing every manoevre possible (PFLs, navigation, even things not possible in real aircraft like real FLs). Before even stepping in a 172 you will know so much, you are a good way there already on your first real flight.
Just watching this video revives that feeling of excitement that I felt in the pit of my stomach teh first time that I flew. It's one of those things that sticks with you forever, no matter how many hours you end up spending in the air.
All I can say is that you have to do it yourself one day soon. That;ll answer all the questions you ahve about it. There aren't any really good ways to explain what flying makes you feel like. You just have to do it your self. Gie it a try ASAP! I'm sure you'll never see the world the same way again!
I think, depending upon your point of view, it can be viewed in a religious sense. The higher we are, the closer we are to God, therefore, flight is in a sense another form of enlightenment.
For a non religious viewpoint, people who fly are tipically leaders; great people who acomplish great things. Think Charles Lindbergh or Chuck Yeager. These peole have done great things with their lives which, hopefully, we all should be trying to do.

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology on aviation:
*Why do we love flying?
*Why do we relate flying with our full potentials and with our successes?
*Why do we use the phases "take off" and "fly high" as a kind of adjectives to describe our success of our hard working?
*Why do we used the word "runway" as a expression of optimistic future of a person/ a team?
*Why do we relate aviation with freedom?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!!
