@Noromami A more technically accurate name might have been "Pulse projection". It basically uses an LED light pulse generated for each each frame of the animation. The pulse passes through a small translucent face image and is projected on the frosted white faceplate. I suspect the marketeers wanted to punch it up a bit, and "impulse" sounds more high tech than "pulse".
