  • Larry..Just like your musical skill, your taste in music is THEE BEST.It looked like a nice day to play on your deck..This is a great song and don't get me wrong, i still do really like the original..However, this version of your's i like much more..I don't know what you call it, your spin on it, your own special touch, that sweet voice .Whatever you call it, it's GOLD and It's what brought me here to you and will keep me here with you and the music forever..Damn fine music, my friend.ione marie

  • Hope that helps you Felix

  • Tune your a down to e

    Your d up to e

    Your g down to e

    Leave b and e alone

May have to Re-tune few times to get it to stay

  • Tuning is e e e e b e

  • Muy Buena !!!!!!!!!!!!! Viva Cuba & Puerto Rico

  • dude you got a new subscriber your tase in music is outstanding VIVA Cuba!!!!

  • love the origional and this one just as much.....tuning please? im eager to learn this

  • Pretty sweet man...........inspiring to say the least. Now it's my turn. Is that in D A D G A D or D A D F# A D tuning? Again ,good F'n job brother!

  • Outfreakin standing, Larry

  • Nicely done sir!

  • enjoyed that so much!

  • Great playing and I LIKED this @37 sec. From what I've read so far in the comments re: tuning, I wold like to add that your voice is amazing. I've just entered a new singing voice mode.

  • I guess this is meant to be a performance video rather than a lesson because half the time the neck is obscured.Thats too bad because it's played well and no doubt others would be grateful to see just what it is thats being played although not that hard to work out.

    Still....

  • What tuning is this guy in..anybody?

  • Holy shit, that is amazing. I have been trying to learn that son for years.

  • Hi,I see this is an old video but if you see this and can tellme what tuning your in that would be appreciated.DADGAD?

  • Wonderful!! You don' need a C, N and sometimes Y. What tuning are you using?

  • I swear ... I could hear two guitars and a sitar ... you never cease to amaze with your masterfuyl interpretations.

  • Bravo!

  • Excellent cover, very close to the original

  • Yea for CSNY! Yea for cicadas too! : )

  • Dude, you rocked this tune.

  • There's something about your strumming I really like but I can't put my finger on it

  • great stuff turn off the water spinkler.

  • this is a really good cover

  • I didn't think anyone but Stills could do this song. Fantastic, great, controlled rendition of one of the best songs ever written. Wow.

  • Excellent! Great job...23 dudes just listed their guitars on eBay. My favorite tune you have posted bar none. This is a song from my youth, I'm biased.

Do you take requests? If so, perhaps a bit of Donvan, The Who, Moody Blues, or more CSNY. Thank you for this great song.

  • This is the BEST cover of this song I've ever seen, not only your guitar work but your voice is superb. Do you play professionally do you have a web site. I am also an ovation player, best guitar I ever bought! I play it every day!

  • I've been playing this song a long time... and I try (emphasis on 'try') to sing along sometimes. For just one guy singing, I think you did a fantastic job improvising. Those Ovations are so pretty. ... .. but; I'll stick with my Martin. Good work man, I thought it was a great solo performance.

  • So much soul...Thanks for the post.. very good playing...I own Monmouth Music Center...Red Bank,Nj....Lots of guitars!!!!

  • Excellent

  • I grew up listening to my dad's vinyls and still have the originals as well as the record player. Have you ever done any Van Morrison covers? regardless, you are fantastic. Keep these videos coming! What kind of guitar are you rocking on in this?? I'm assuming custom?

  • The sound of that ovasion is just not for real.. props man!!!

    Sweden

  • what is the tuning on that guitar?

  • Comment removed

  • Best cover i've seen in ages!

  • WOW! Great job man.

  • dumbass count=4

  • Great job! Not many could even attempt this set of songs, let alone do it as well as you. Great job!

  • Dude you play literally all the songs I love to play hahahaha. I'm so used to playing them differently though.. Diggin the guitar whats the make??

  • Great job and that guitar is gorgeous

  • wow what kind of guitar is that? it looks like it went through world war 1. but it still sounds excellent.

  • Mr Dreyfus... Good job but personally i don't like the use of your thumb on the first string...I know Stills and Nash does it too.. but... it's like switching gears with the wrong hand.. playing guitar.. playing each note must look great.. but thats óf course my opinion..

  • Ahhh...just what I needed this morning..beautifully done. Thank you!

  • I really really liked this. Such a hard song. Is that a sprinkler in the background going round and round?

  • @parrothead7507 No.. It's cicadas in the trees.. Thank you so much for your very kind comments.

  • Larry...I have to be honest with you friend.Yes i do like the original, good song..but i love yours for two reasons..First, because by you doing it and giving it your SPECIAL TOUCH, its like getting a new song...And secondly, even if you didn't have the skill or voice to do this, i would still respect the attempt made..But you know what?...You have both the skill and voice, in spades..Put your ALL into this...You are a bad-ass musician that has more style and power in what you do..ione marie

  • very good. I think you played the song as well as it can be played by one person. Your voice sounds very goog and so does your playing

  • I loved it start to finish and I thought the vocal track was very good. It's hard to come up with ONE definitive vocal and I thought you nailed the arrangement. Is it EEEEBE tuning?

  • I like your voice, actually. I think you could really benefit from vocal coaching. On the upper end your airway is getting constricted, but it's obvious you have a very nice voice. Amazing guitar playing.

  • Very nice. I think people expect to hear that higher harmony part and it sounds like you do a lot of the middle voice esp in the second to the last part. Your vocals for the part you are singing are dead on. Noone is going to match the vocals solo unless you are using a harmonizer pedal.

  • i think your singing is great man, some people dont appreciate how hard it is to sing like CSN i mean they were fuckin amazing. Keep it up buddy!

  • Stupendous!!! I could not stop smiling and singing along with you ! JUST OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!

  • In my honest opinion, I think you are a gift to YouTube! Incredible perrformance. Wish I had you for a neighbor, I know where I'd be hanging out. Did someone expect to hear stephen stills? You sang just fine.

  • Wow! I wish I could sing so "weak." Great job. You bring Stills' energy to the guitar licks, and bring a nice sound to the vocals. Would enjoy playing along someday. Really enjoying your vids. Keep em coming...........

  • Darn nice job

  • From someone who is from THAT time . . . thank you. Excellent cover!!

  • larry , don't worry you're the best ever on youtube. Judy blue eyes is still here thanks to you. Great Art

  • Please do not apologize to @scumpymanjack for your voice, which is btw very good, nice range! You look like you sing and play from your soul; a great performance by a musician expressing himself fully on a song he clearly loves!!

  • Great job sir.

  • I think you did a great jog on the guitar AND the vocals! You just need me for the second guitar and high vocal harmonies...hehe..; )

  • Comment removed

  • hey its Richard Dreyfus!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Absolutely great job man - thanks! And like so many others have asked...what tuning are you using? Fantastic job...

  • That was outstanding! I just started playing at age 54 and wish I had 100th your talent. Knowing this song from my youth (growing up in the 60's) most don't realize how full you made this sound. History will tell there was more than one bangin on a flatstring at Woodstock! Thank you so much.

  • I love how people with ZERO talent knock the performers on here. Nobody wants to hear your negative comments. Thanks so much for your words of wisdom putzline66

  • Just awesome! You nailed this classic.

  • Dude looks like Dick Cheney...

  • This is an excellent cover!! I really enjoyed it!

  • No one plays the version like edgar cruz does.

    Fuckk.

    Still good

  • I've been playing for 38 years. Excellent job! I'm playing this myself on a 12 string. One full step down & in E modal (EEEBE) - right?

  • good guitar work. You should try to go into the falsetto like Steve does

  • This was wonderfull..Further I can say that your versions of Pieces of April and Ain't now Sunshine when she is gone, are the best I have ever heard...I am in awe at your talent....

  • Holy crap, man, you nailed this one. I learned it in EEEEBE tuning, but it looks like you're using something else. Great job!

  • Guitar Sounds Great, and Man you made a Great effort with the Voice, whoever sings this song Gives Great VIBES.....Stills is a Guitar GOD!!! and CSN just are without any comparison......

  • this is great, this is a real person singing a real song and doing a damn good job of it.all the way through.just try it.

  • A monument of a song, and well performed. Good thing you kept so close to the original version.

  • Well - I could come and listen to you! It's a case of which part do you sing from a song that's probably got all three of them multi-tracked singing as a trio anyway. And it's only a weak vocal mix - not the actual vocal in my op. I'm going to look for you doing Bluebird now...

  • I've seen you do several other songs very well on here, but "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes," is my all-time favorite song, and I'm a big Stephen Stills fan, and this is truly one of the greatest pop/rock songs ever written or recorded, but you just didn't get this one quite right. Sorry. For one thing you should have sung it in a lower key. Good guitar though.

  • Very nice. Thanks for sharing. Incredible guitar.

  • I JUST SO TOTALLY SUBBED U MAN!!! OMG-I love u man, ur so unbelievable. I'm speechless!

  • I'm completely stunned beyond words!!! I had to re-listen to it 3 times and it got better each time, the sound mix and ur vocal was beyond completely marvelous!!!! God, I'd love to add my back-up vocals to this. ...and any of these fools here who gave u a hard time-they are tone deaf - and also didn't realize that often u were singing one of the harmony parts. I loved it with a CAPITOL 5 stars and way beyond that!!! This was simply unbelievable. I got to cutt it out now, going back n for a 4th!!

  • I don't know how Judy reacted to this song, but Larry...will you marry me?

    Just kidding. Sort of. ;-)

  • Fantastic. Really enjoyed this. BTW, Scrumpymanjack is entitled to his opinion, but truly, most I imagine would disagree with his evaluation of your singing voice. You sound just as good as Stills when he was in his prime (which was a whole lot of years ago!!!). And you don't have benefit of Crosby and Nash harmonizing.

Keep on rockin' in the free world!!!

  • Fricking awesome

  • what chords do you use around 6:39?

  • I'm impressed with the guitar AND the singing interpretation. Each artist, is by definition, different. If you emulated CSN exactly, it would be easier to just buy the CD. Thanks for the performance!

  • aurally incredible

  • Sweat...wish they had this one on guitar hero so i can paly it

  • Right on !

wow lots of assholes on here love to judge eh ??

    shit ...

    keep rockin man !!

  • very cool!

  • Podline, I have been playing for over 35 years, pro and for fun and just wanted to say, you're the kind of guy I would really enjoy hanging out with over a backyard BBQ (noticed the one in the background) and a couple of cold ones playing all the good old tunes we grew up listening to. I've been on stage and had my 5 minutes of stardom but honestly prefer the "for fun" kind of playing !

BTW, podilne sings awesome and with "feeling," something most of you store bought singers never heard of.

  • wow.......awesome....chills

  • very good man! accolades from a fellow player

  • Guitar sounds spot on - not so the singing, which is weak. Thanks for posting.

  • @scrumpymanjack Thank you for such a frank evaluation. But why would you thank me for posting weak singing.. I should be apologizing.

  • @podline66 I thank you for posting because there is something very communal about youtube, and you are adding to it. All posts (well, most posts) are worthwhile, and yours is really worthwhile. You are sharing music with us. It's not a talent contest, it's about sharing and that is exactly what you're doing. I really enjoyed your clip, but I also tried to add something by giving opinion from an impartial observer. Good luck to you, friend.

  • @podline66 nice job. And I like your comebacks to the vapid pricks who sit on their asses, too lazy to pick up a guitar let alone learn how to play it,and yet criticize you. You kinda have a little Crosby in you. Check out the vid somewhere on the Tube where Crosby was gonna go into the crowd and beat the crap out of some idiot who yelled that they had sold out for materialism.

  • @podline66 i really really enjoyed this version, rhythm is spot on and the tuning is very interesting. Please tell us hackers who want to learn from you what tuning you are using to give it a test drive.

  • @podline66 the singing needs work, but there are parts of it that are amazing, you hit the highest note perfect, damn hard song to play an sing,

  • @podline66 Don't apologize. That was a great cover of a very difficult song. You sang the song perfectly in key....I had fun harmonizing with you. Not everyone has a Steven Stills rasp...I'm the same way. I'm just starting to learn this song...Great jam. Korie in WV

  • @podline66 Dont listen to the troll. Great job!!

  • @podline66 That was kind of a back-handed compliment, man. Not cool. What happened to positivity and camaraderie between musicians? AND, hes' covering multiple, unique voices that are some of the most recognized from a generation of fantastic music.

I watch this vid at least once a month because the singing is so honest, especially at 4:05. The guitar playing ain't bad either (actually, it is awesome! [5:42])

  • @podline66 No apologies, brother. You do it well. Keep it doin' and never stop. For a solo performance you're very entertaining and that's all that counts.

  • @scrumpymanjack I disagree--with a few exceptions, I thought the singing was pretty good. Great cover.

  • @scrumpymanjack Dude, but also remember how much harmonizing there is by the 3 geniuses who played this song!!!! The singing is spot on!

  • @scrumpymanjack - The vocals are a 3 part harmony. I would assume that this person chose the one that best fit their own range.

  • @scrumpymanjack lets see you do better shmuck

  • @MuggsyStyle I can't do better. Not even close, but that's not the point.

  • Hands down the best Stephen Stills cover I have ever heard..Thank you so much for sharing Thank you......what guitar tuning did you have here? Thanks Again, Jim

  • WOW..This rendition put chills up my back,That was breathtaking, beautifully done..You nailed it to a TEE!!!!

  • Mighty fine.I play it with this tuning but always had a little problem getting the end part figured out.Took along time to decipher.

  • Very fine. Have you thought about overdubbing the vocal harmonies?

  • great job brother, csn has always been one of my fav's. also u nailed [so begins the task ] thanks man

  • forget what anyone else says man this is amazing. anyone can just play suite judy blue eyes but you made it different and incorporated your own style and thats what this kind of music is all about. good job dude stills would be proud if he saw this

  • sweet.......one of the best versions ive heard on youtube.....great job!! whats the tuning?

  • Sir that was amazing! Nice job.

  • Fantastic job. I learned this in EEEEBE tuning (but couldn't put it together like you can), but it looks like you're using something different.

  • great job man!

I find this song hard to sing, u doa good job of it

  • This is awesome, way to go man. Don't mind the ignorance of others

  • What a great performance. Superb brother, vocals, guitar, feel. A+

  • Very nice. Picked up every nuance in the original. Keep up the good work.

  • great job! That one's next on my list to learn. as soon as I get an extra set of strings hehe.

  • Love the guitar. You got it tuned right. Nailed it. Good job.

  • Amazing!!! Thank you very much that was beautiful. Definitely in my top ten Dessert Island songs.

I love the cicadas in the background, the rhythm section, lol.

    Great job.

  • Are you tuned DADDAD? I have been teaching myself for 22 years w slow and steady progress and this song has baffled me. thank God for technology as it is a pleasure to see someone like yourself play with such raw talent and emotion... I am not in a race get there because the ride is all of the fun for me in learning. Having said that, it is good to have some inspiration to get to the next plateau so thank you! Beautiful guitar! Prettier than every piece of furniture I own...

  • Great cover, 5 stars. I grew up in the same generation (54yrs old)...we had the best choices of music. So many styles of rock. The late 60's and seventies will be hard to duplicate. Awsome sound you have on evry one of you covers I have listened to this morning.

  • great cover man.

was just about to cover this myself.

above all i gotta say your playing and that tone out of that guitar are fantastic

looks like the ovation style but i have never ever heard an ovation get a sound like that so its something else isnt it?

  • Great job!!!! Love it!

  • very nice cover 5*****'s

  • I thoroughly enjoyed this flawless performance. Gotta go find my tie-dye tee-shirts now. Thanks!

  • Which model Adamas is that...I used to have a black full body one but traded it for a PA system...want another one. Can't find one. Let me know when you have a minute.

P.S. I really enjoy your site.

  • Well done! 5* I like this style. I play in a band and we try to play suite Judy Blue Eyes too, include the close harmony's. We used your vid for the first line singing.

  • Comment removed

  • It's a half step lower, to sing easier. Obviously you don't get it dude. Like I didn't know that. Don't make stupid comments. They show only that you're clueless.

  • Honestly. Punks like you who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground are SO useless and annoying. Go play your xbox...

  • @podline66 YES! hahahah thats hilarious. By the way, i happened to love the cover, its better than most on youtube

  • And FYI.. The word is 'you'll' not 'u'll'. Further evidence of your empty head.

  • Way to hit those High notes !!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Hello chap! I don't know you, but I wish I did! This is simply incredible. I have never seen anything like it. Thanks for sharing your talent!

  • Great job!!! Is that EEEEBE or DADDAD??

  • Can I come sing the harmonies with u pal,,,,, am still smiling . Amazing

  • WOW congratulations... I love CSN.. but this cover is as good as the original piece!

  • fantastic, i'm sure this is better than Stephen can play and sing it now.

i see from your youtube channel you were in a band, back in the day.

you still have it, very nice

  • bravo! bravo!

  • Awesome version Sir keep up the good work!!!

  • Love the liberties you took with the melody! If you get a chance, check out my version. * 5 *

  • SOOOO SICK. Very awesome dude. This is the best cover of the guitar part I've ever seen. So good!

  • Great job brother. Excellent performance and vocals.

  • Ooh, CSNY are one of the best bands ever. And this track was one of their best. Not an easy song to sing but you nailed it. Will you ever cover Guinnevere? I would love to see/hear you do that! x 5 stars

  • Larry, I have enjoyed all your videos on youtube. You seem to play all my favorites! Thanks! Mark Fagerburg, Kingman, AZ

  • Thanks Larry, I missed Woodstock by one day , my leave ended on august 14, 1969. I was going to go AWOL but my hair was to short . Also 59

  • Ok I had to sing along and do some harmonies!!! Have a great day Larry :)

    We LOVE you!!!!!!!!!

  • Outstanding!

  • amazing!! i admit i am a csn purist and even snob (joking) anyway, this is first song i ever taught myself (the intro and lead break anyway lol) truly amazing guitar work and vocals on a very difficult song!!!!!! only one negative comment---------hey man get a better grill!!! lmao. thank you for posting. by the way i am 59 years old so i've been there from the beginning. you are awesome

  • Are you using EEEEBE or DADDAD tuning?

  • Great Cover!!

What is the tuning? Drop "D"?

    Keep up the good work.

  • Very VERY nice just the way it is, Larry. Bravisimo.

Too bad all your fans couldn't kinda camp out in your yard for the weekend and make our own Woodstock/Larrystock.

  • Great Job Larry! I like it when you just go for it...Very nice!

  • Very, very wonderful! I'm kind of glad you cut back on the echo-ey stuff. Excellent! Thank you for posting this, and all the other ones! Great guitar.

  • A virtual pat on the back...well done. No overdubs is perfect here.

  • very nice, Larry... 5 stars

  • just outstanding Larry...my favorite CSNY song and you gave it new life. 5 stars.

  • Man, are you getting better and better with every video or what? :) I love the garden setting and this is just stellar in terms of performance musicianship and delivery. How does it feel to be awesome?

  • STANDING OVATION!!!!!

  • Great performance, meastro!

(wow... those critters must be the size of horses... they add perfectly to the outdoor 'Woodstock' atmosphere, wonderful, nature rules!)

  • Wow....speechless!! Amazing playing LL.....love what you do with that beautiful red guitar. I think the critters liked it too by the sound of the backup vocals!!
