My Father was a crewman on a B-29 in WW II. I also noticed you needed 2 people to fly it. A REAL B-29 needed 3 people for a take off. The Pilot would operate the controlls, the Co-Pilot would run the trottles and the flaps, and the flight engineer would have to set the mixtures and turbo boost. The Mixture/boost was very important. The B-29 engines would over heat very quickly at low altitudes and catch fire.

Might be a B-50, not many were built but most likly it's a B-29 and neither this nor the real thing had turbine engines. Early models had Wright R-3350's and later models had R-4360's. That's turbo-compound, 36 cylinders (4 rows of 9 stacked one behind the other) 72 igniters. They were the biggest of the "round engines." B-29's dropped the A-bombs on Japan in '45.

hi, would like to know how large this is,..ie..what wingspan,..currently building a dakota but only 8 ft span. one of my regrets was never seeing " Roy Levers" model lancaster 22ft span and his Halifax 24ft span that he used to fly in the seventies,..also the display flight of ( was it 10ft or 15 ft span spitfires ) that one of the big model shops used to show at various events,..i think there were 5 of them in the display,......anyway great superfortress would like to see it for real.
