  • that sick pig

  • You put alot of work into this... Never made the connection of sexual abuse!! :(

  • Lol Think you're looking too much into the spot rubbing, but yeah the music and what not makes it really obvious that the guy is a pedophile.

  • Comment removed

  • You actually missed one scene of Clara. i don't remember where it can be found. But it consists of Clara on her hands and knees washing the floor with a rag, her shirt having been removed leaving her in just her bra. And Mr Hoffman telling to clean the floor, as though he gets off to it sexually.

  • @MotherRanma

No. This is the scene and nothing has been edited out. Her blouse is somewhat flesh-colored and that may have led some people to misunderstand and misrepresent this scene.

  • Clara was being sexually abused by Mr. Hoffman. She also became pregnant, which is easily identifiable in her boss fight.

  • I always thought that Clara had been impregnated by Mr. Hoffman, that could explain why she shuffles her feet when she walks.

  • I kinda feel sorry for Clara.

Great videos, it's great how you have different theories and evidence to back them up.

  • @randomiser66

    Thanks!

  • Yeah, I read somehwere online that Jinnifer was suppose to have accidentally walked in on Mr. Hoffman with Clara in bed and stuff but she didn't want to remember him abusing her that way, so she altered that memory to Clara just cleaning inside that other room. And yeah, I think Clara actually was suppose to have gotten an abortion because she has an abortion looking scar on her belly in the Mermaid Princess chapter. It's all sad really. I feel sorry for Clara man! :(

  • @chelseaangelandollie where did you read that from?

  • @chelseaangelandollie The zone of the stretcher that Clara is cleaning is the side where the vagina have to be (if you look the stretcher it is prepared for a birth/abortion(really dunno how is an abortion ._."), dont you see the things where the legs are suported?). So she is cleaning all the memories of the abortion, so sad. I Just Love Clara, I feel same as her <3 i'll protect her... forever and ever until i die. x'd why im criying for a game character? x'd

  • I'm sorry if this has been addressed, but it looks as if Clara is walking in a funny way when Hoffman calls her..and that noise she makes sounded like possible pain(along with the fact that she clearly does not want to be around him) What could he have done to her on that table??? and why?? I've heard abortion before..maybe she was still recovering?? my head hurts. >.0

  • Poor Clara.

    Great Channel.

  • @VsionEffectable

    Thanks!

  • The video loaads too slow! D:

  • i hate the freaking part he keeps on replaying the scenes it makes me annoyed!

  • GRRRR I HATE THAT OLD GREEN MAN Ò.Ó

  • CUM lol really game?

  • @ValisHD

No. That was my joke. Using---in altered context---a sound-file of Jennifer calling "Come!" to Brown.

  • @RuleOfRoseMysteries i think it's hilarious

  • Have you read the journal in mr. Haffman`s office? ...Yeah...it sort of clears things up a little bit <_<

  • yeah the noise she makes sounds like a sad and/or disgusted tone cuz >> i use it all the time with guys around my town....well the disgusted tone anyway

  • Other videos - 1,000 views

SEX SCENE video - 78,000 views

  • @LovelyYTRocks

i know i was looking at the side link vids,

im kinda pissed off with that

    no one gets out much

  • Wow that point about the loud music makes sense! I didn't even think of that.

    At the risk of posting an inappropriate comment, Clara "wiping" the floor could have been Jennifer seeing them *ahem* humping each other. You can remove this if it's too inappropriate. ^^;

  • @Sokulski I get what you mean..I don't mean to have my head in the gutters, but they seem to seriously make it look like she is *cough*giving him pleasure on her knees... *uuuggghhhhh *shiver

  • @missNewVegas Absolutely! What I like about this area of the game, is that Clara is a character surrounded with obvious yet misleading hints.[/color]

  • Why te hell is a gineocollogical table in an orphan in the middle of the nothing, better yet, why the heck did the cleanwoman thata did suspect bout hoffman pedophilia didnt notice that there was a ginecological table!, i mean really why do they need them?

  • Ugh... makes me sick to my stomach about poor Claras fate.

  • the wiki page of Rule of Rose said that Hoffman got Clara pregnant.

  • @Demonmistress101

I am undoubtedly the indirect source of that wiki claim (I never post to wikis myself), but I never presented that idea, about Clara having gotten pregnant, as more than just a hypothesis, a possibility to think about. It shouldn't be taken as an established fact.

  • @Demonmistress101 WTF?! pregnant clara!, jajaja poor clara, she always have to clean everithin..., im starting to hate this old man

  • oh you silly goose

the developers haven't hidden messages in the game

they just half assed everything and used the excuse of leaving things open to interpretation

  • Did you notice how Clara's shirt was off when she was scrubbing the floor? Is there a reason why you didn't comment of that, or was it just too obvious?

  • @Slightlybaka

I don't think that her shirt is off. If you look at the full scrubbing sequence, you can see the line of Clara's sleeve on her arm. Her shirt IS near to being skin-color. Perhaps the game-makers made that color-choice to add some ambiguity to the scene.

  • @RuleOfRoseMysteries I have just come across a section of your website where there is high-res pics. You're right-her shirt isn't off.

  • that chair almost resembles the kind used to examine rectal areas

  • I don't get this game does Wendy die in the end and were the boss fights real? And did the other kids die at the end? o___o

  • @MrFendkg287316 Yes, everyone dies except Jennifer, and possibly Clara.

  • @Slightlybaka It's unclear if Mr. Hoffman dies either, since it seems from his diary that he's very deliberately running away. Either he realized that there's a plot for his life, or he was blackmailed to leave. Ofcourse Wendy being Wendy, that doesn't necessarily mean that he actually *got* away; the Stray Dog has a long reach...

  • @Lightice1 Oh yes, I forgot about him. I believe he either ran away or committed suicide because, either he just couldn't take it anymore, or he realized what he had actually done to Clara and was too ashamed of himself to stay.

  • @Slightlybaka He doesn't seem like the type to feel remorse over those kind of actions. If anything, he'd gloat about it to himself to kingdom come.

  • @selty I disagree. Jennifer states in the "Once Upon a Time" chapter that Hoffman used to be a kind and admirable teacher.

  • @Slightlybaka I think she says that because she did not know about his doings for a while, and assumed he was a kind and admirable older man. There weren't very many adults in the Orphanage, so it would be logical to assume that Jennifer would attempt to see Hoffman in a positive role. However, we don't know what her opinion is of adults, really, so I can't say for sure. I assume this because it's never stated otherwise.

  • @selty I see what you're getting at, but why do you assume this? And we do know what her opinion is of adults - she states that they're selfish. Jennifer is very intelligent - she knows how people really feel.

  • @Slightlybaka Jennifer was a child, remember that. Even if you are an intelligent child, you can still be fooled. In the Once Upon a Time chapter, Mr. Hoffman's portrait is scribbled on with black crayon (or whatever it was.) Wasn't this her untouched, forever kept memory of the Orphanage seen in a positive light? Why, then, does Mr. Hoffman's portrait have graffiti on it? Why just that? That entire sequence is a memory she keeps locked away and cherished. That points to a negative perspective.

  • @selty

On the other hand, Jennifer's memory of Mr. Hoffman's voice, in the "Once Upon A Time" chapter, is only pleasant and warm.

  • @RuleOfRoseMysteries She *wanted* to remember him in a nice way, as she did with *everyone* else. Still, the tainted painting says a thousand words to me.

  • I don't want to sound annoying, but when was the Funeral Chapter set? Because some scene before suggest that the adults, Hoffman, Martha and Clara disappeared.

  • @Blazenix1

Chronology is messed up throughout Jennifer's dream. Martha dies in the April chapter, but is bound-and-bagged alive in July, and is going about her business cleaning a lavatory in November. For chronology problems in the Funeral chapter, see my blog-post "The Unluckiest of Days" (written Nov 10, 2007).

  • @Blazenix1

    For an accurate--although limited--chronology of Jennifer's forgotten past, see my two document-based time-lines (written Oct 23, 2007 and Nov 29, 2007) at my blog-site.

  • You should DEFINITELY get a job doing documentaries!

Your voice is PERFECT for it.

  • 6:06 scares me...

  • just what im thinking! I Knew it!! there something between Mr. Hoffman & Clara especially in the Sick Bay >.< and i also notice when you battle with Mr. Hoffman he was like raping you~ gosh!

  • Okay can some1 tell me this...

Why is Jennifer's dress all bloody in this game?

On my Ps2 version it never gets bloody.

Annnd... I havent passed the Mermaid Boss yet...

    Im confused lol.

  • @iOrgastic

It isn't blood that you see on Jennifer's dress in this chapter, it is red crayon markings. She doesn't have these markings on her until the beginning of "The Funeral" chapter.

  • @RuleOfRoseMysteries Damn Poker. I've seen your stuff on the Gamespot forum about Joshua and his dad, going up against SyberiaWinx, your theories on the Rule of Rose Mystery blogs. This game is old as hell but you keep it alive. I wish Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory had about five billion of you.

  • In general in the Hoffman boss battle his entire strategy to kill you is to grab you and fall of you so...

  • @TheDandiestLion regardless of whether she is at the appropriate age of consent or not, clara is clearly showing signs of fear, mistrust and unwillingness. this suggests that she is being coerced into an activity she wants no part of. Mr. Hoffman is also an authority figure. This position puts him in a state of power; particularly power over the orphans. Those who have influence over a given situation have an advantage over those who are weaker (namely clara). He IS sexually abusing her.

  • omg! it looks as if her shirt was off at 4:03 ! am I the only one that sees this?!

  • @Pratty159 I thought that too!

  • remember folks

jen is changing what she saw originally in her mind

in game she saw clara wiping

but in the past maybe she saw something different and wants to forget about it

  • @QaDri93 maybe she saw something worse and is trying to 'wipe' it from her memory

  • My gosh! I totally missed that scene!

  • ah, this is an interesting footage - i must say i didn't get to see this part / cutscene in my gameplay.

tho i think one shouldn't put too much interpretation in the soundfiles XD really ANY soundfile of any game or movie can sound wrong perverted if taken and played out of context. =P

but there are some good points in your thoughts of the general scene.. =9 i'd mostly think so, too.

Clara the frightened princess. I've actually barely recognized she existed until I beat the game Jen's remarks.

  • remember mr. hoffman boss? well during the battle if he grabs you, well you see that hoffman grabs jeniffer in a sexual way (or at least that;s how i saw it) can that prove that he like to molest the orphan girls? and i also didnt get why he was all tied up and bloody

  • @Sempumaru

I agree that Mr. Hoffman makes motions that look sexual if he falls onto Jennifer during the boss-battle.

  • @Sempumaru

That tied up design thing, is a whole different story as far as I see it.

(Sir Peter chptr) in the airship, when you take a peek through the keyhole of the sick bay, you see imps talking Dr Hofman 'into something' and at the same time 'stringing him along' with wire constructions. In boss battle, Jennifer sees him all tried up and enraged because of what the imps (children) told him about her. Probablie lies, maybe she was aspersed altho she was innocent. She sees him as controled

  • do u hav the stripped sound files on utube? if not, can u put them up pretty plz?

  • Hoffman: *Sexual sounds*

Jennifer: Cum! (Oh fuck oh fuck!)

    Hoffman:Oh Jennifah! let's do a threesome

    Jennifer: Uhmmm... No..

  • @TheDandiestLion "Lets it happen" does not mean "consent." It could suggest fear of possible alternatives.

  • @TheDandiestLion:

I see. I don't really know anything about that legal age stuff and that sure makes sense... Poor girl.

  • what is this supposed to be? people get offended by this must be paranoid.

  • Poor Clara :(

  • Well, honestly although the "act" didn't happen, that's what the scene provokes us to think. So obvious, Clara's actions, movements (well.. yeah!). Maybe Hoffman might be fooling Jennifer that he just wants Clara to clean (since Jennifer was still in the room). He would've make sure first that no one is really there before executing that sinful act to that poor child.

  • Whoah, I thought you were really the Narrator PokerNemesis!

  • I don't understand your comment.

    -- PN.

  • Oh sorry, didn't made that clear. I mean, your voice is so good I thought the "real" in-game narrator was the one speaking. You could be a great voice talent ;D

  • Thanks! :D

  • haha never thought there were unused files.. i always thought in that tho... and before the mermaid battle too.. hey nice vids... i have to play this games again is been 3 years... but i always liked it .cheers!!

  • lol theres dust over there wipe it up

  • Oh I love these clues and theories X3

Even the evidence makes you wonder lol

Yeah, it's a really big headscratcher solving things in this game since Jennifer's memories are jungled all over the place. I always try to piece some bits together for Clara.

  • I hated that old man before for being such a dick to Jennifer, and now I hope he burns in Hell for all of that.

  • I was one of the original members of the Filth Room forum. I extracted the audio files from the disc and converted them over to a wav format. With help of a friend, we were able to tag all files with names. I still have them if you want. There's A LOT of Clara dialog missing. Including sounds of her, presumably, freezing to death begging and pleading for someone.

  • You are, it seems, the original source of the unused sound files that I have. Thanks. I think they're very important and interesting. I think my set of sound files is probably complete.

  • Where can I hear that? o.o

  • XD My stepsister thought I was watching porn too!! She was all: "O___O....so...dear sister...what uh...what's this?" and I was all: "O_O IT'S NOT WHAT IT SOUNDS-...well it is...BUT I'M NOT WATCHING WHAT YOU THINK I'M WATCHING!!!" But yeah, I'm glad someone else thought exactly what I was thinking. >_> I was definitely suspicious...if it was just going to be an innocent cleaning, why was Hoffman all: "*seductive low old man ew voice*" and Clara was all: "D:" ? Anyway, awesome job!

  • This is a video game.

  • this is pretty obvious, actually...

  • lol mhm

  • So the produers (Atlus?) took the unused sound files and replaced them with something else?

  • Totally looked like it. That's what I thought.

  • Of all your videos I've watched, I must say this one is by far the most convincing. I would say without a doubt that you figured this one out completely.

  • My mother thought I was watching porn, she passed by when you put on the 2nd audio clip. Haha :)

This is pedophilia from Arg to China...

Where did you found the unused sound clips?

  • They were made available in the past on a link (long gone) from a Rule of Rose forum. Sound files can apparently be obtained from PS2 game discs using some sort of software. There are a lot of unused Rule of Rose sound files.

Hope you didn't get into trouble with your mother!

  • I'll try to rip them then :) Seems really interesting.

  • hello n_n I found your beautiful website some months ago, and I almost read it all; thank u so much for all the beautiful and sensed explanations of this wonderful story.

oh, I wanted to ask you a thing =) can you please tell me where did you find these special audio files? :o I never heard them in the videogame..

  • The sound files can be taken from the game disc if that disc is run on a computer. I suspect that there may be some software involved, but I don't really know how the process is done. I didn't strip mine from the game disc myself, someone else did it and made the files available to me years ago.

  • oh okay, thank you

very much for the info -^^-

  • Jeez, Pokes, you and your video made this game five times creepier. Good finds, though.

  • Thanks! I think that there are a number of creepy things from Jennifer's previously forgotten past, hinted at in the game, that Jennifer avoids telling us about in the "Once Upon A Time" chapter despite the fact that she says she now remembers "everything" (at the mirror in the Bath Room---where the showers are).

  • I think the innocent cleaning scene is more like when little Jeniffer walked in on them, she heard Mr. Hoffman saying what he said "There some dust over here...(etc)" and she thought he ment by cleaning. So in her vague memories, she only remembers what she assumes Mr. Hoffman and Clara are doing as in, just cleaning, and not what they're actually doing and what she actually saw.

  • 6:50 Okay, I don't think it gets more obvious than this. If someone says those moaning sounds are NOT of Hoffman doing what I think he's doing, then I'll promptly say that person is lying. Even if that sound file is unused, they probably chose not to use it because it would piece Jennifer's memories about Hoffman and Clara instantly, and they simply wanted to make the players' scratch their heads about it. Plus, everyone was already wary of the supposed "lesbianism" found in the game.

  • Wow Clara looked totally freaked out at 3:24

  • @RoyalScarlet01

idk maybe because she's going to be raped

    JUST A HUNCH

  • You're actually asking me for an opinion? XD Don't you think i'm opinionated enough without the asking?

I'll take it to your blog. Seems this isn't quite the place for it.

  • xD You're evil, PN.

Your voice is very eerie... like you're a ringmaster in a dark carnival.

Hmm... I'd never heard of that last unused soundclip. Which reminds me...

Someone told me there were clips of the other orphans (the boys namely) screaming in The Lying Princess and the Stray Dog chapter (maybe) but they are unused. I was wondering if you'd found them; what your take was on them. (I don't have anything to say about this vid, unfortunately because I think I've speculated on site)

  • Yes, those unused sound files of screaming exist. I heard them while skimming through the sound files during the making of this video.

I don't really have a "take" on them. What sort of significance were you thinking they might have?

  • i need to get this game again and find all these clues

  • I'm sorry. I burst out laughing at the end.

    "Come!" Jennifer, you dirty girl..

  • ...filthy, they say.

  • Well, yes, my mistake.

  • I like how all the characters are in a European setting but they still do the Japanese gesture for saying "come here."

  • I noticed that too... It gave me an idea for a video.

  • Well, it was probably because they used Asian motion capture actors, there's actually a video on YouTube depicting this, but I'm sure you've already seen it.

  • It's in my list of Rule of Rose Mysteries favorite videos.

  • Usually, after pregnant woman have their babies and have to get up and walk, they shuffle their feet because their in a bit of pain. Clara does the same thing.

  • @ShinyBlackNails But if she DID have babies, what did Mr. Hoffman do with them? I wondered that when I saw your post.

  • @Zabuza123456789 Through them away (If they were aborted) or even killed them. It would be funny if one of the younger children at the orphanage were hers.

  • One thing I've never understood, in the timeline of ROR; perhaps you can help me? In a letter from W to J, we see that they break Jennifer out of Gregory's house on Jan 28th 1930, but Jennifer is only recorded to have arrived at the orphange during March of 1930 - I can't wrap my head around this, what happened to Jennifer during the two month gap?

  • See the comment thread for my blog-post of July 14, 2008: "The Little Princess" Storybook (Part 3): To The Orphanage.

  • Notice the position of Mr. Hoffman's rod near Clara's face (at 4:01). Is it perhaps a phallic symbol here?

  • Oh Gosh. You know, as much as I'd like to say that's disgusting, it's very very true. So unexpected to see when I signed onto Youtube today :)

Also, when you said 'innocent floor cleaning', I thought you said 'innocent foreplay'. How fitting to the video 0_o

ROFL! Please tell me the part at the end was edited by you. I was so scared I was about to find the sound files online and see for myself. Nice vid as usual, Poker! :D

  • Yes, the ending is editing by me using actual RoR soundfiles ripped from the game disc.
