I disagree. Have you read his book The Art of Deception? Most of his attacks were not really hacking, they were more like social engineering and infiltration. He became a "famous" hacker because the government made an example out of him. I am not talking him down... he is a smart man, but I wouldn't call him the best hacker in the world and I'm sure he wouldn't call himself that either.

@tfreakvids I agree partially with your statement. I agree that he was not "the best" hacker in the world. However, he was not a dumbass, either. If you watch any of his interviews, he clearly knows something about the phone system. Of course, this does not necessarily qualify him as a true hacker (in the legitimate sense) because phones are not equivalent to computers (even though they bear certain similarities). So, technically, he is more of a "phr34k3r" or something like that.

Ive been researching Mitnick and this man was a genus at his day, but him doing hacking into non-social engineering it would be very difficult in his part. I researched another genus of NST (Network Security Technology) and Bruce Snider which is the founder of security in networking and he has a job unlike Mitnick..man I wish Mitnick could get a job because he is so good....but snider never did that and he is making money.
