I think the hidden ending would have occurred if you had the holy glasses but failed to kill the Succubus and were about to free Richter. The orb would have briefly played dead and then the Succubus would possess Maria and Alucard would have to kill them both. The orb would become indestructible or something.

I read an offical report from the games makers. The way the fifth ending went was that Shaft had brought the Succubus back and she takes over Maria and Alucard is forced to kill them both. But an interesting note is that throughout the first castle and at the really good end it seems that Alucard fell for Maria.

My theory: Maria turns into a crazy awkward sex kitten and eats richters soul. Of course she takes the form of everything she tried to be in life, an annoying useless dialogue character that adds little to nothing to the game. Seeing the paradox in the creation the game developers made they did us the favor of cutting it out of the game.

@Ph1reEmblemFan Nah there is already an ending that takes place if you kill Richter with the holy glasses on. Basically in that one Alucard talks to Maria at the end. My take on that ending is that for whatever reason Maria shows up to help Alucard, but Richter dies and Maria is changed.

man, her is something funny, I remenver that when I palyed SOTN by first time, I killed richter having the gogles(i think), and i watched an ending a little longer than the worst....alucard was alone and he said a few lines more(like "(...)he was doomed since he losse the ability of love(...)")....i remember that my % was greater than the usual like 103% or some.... The "secret ending" sounded like Shaft was controlling Maria, because Maria said "so much power, on a little girl" so it's probably Shaft speaking through her body. Then in this "secret ending" i think you was going to fight Maria.

Some protip about the sword of dawn:

When you do the special attack with this sword you can do it several times in a row; meaning that you can do the special attack but you spam the attack button. While doing so you will get more summons depending on how many times you click. Have fun with it :P

its a half circle up, hold up for 2-3 seconds, then down+ square of circle, and do the have circle up going right instead of left, i can do it on the ps version buts its annoying as fuckcus it never works for me on the psp verison

I think that audio rip is from the Japanese version where you can play as Maria. Naturally, her storyline would be different and would explain the odd audio we heard in the beginning.

Killing Richter while ignoring the orb gives you a very slightly different ending than if you had simply killed Richter before going through the song and dance of getting the Holy Goggles.

Don't worry: I found it. It is where you would fight the fleaman flyers in the normal castle. For everyone else that is looking for it, there is a breakable wall above where you would have gotten the leap stone.

I'd say that sounds pretty plausible given the history of the series up to that point. Rondo of Blood had a pretty bitter alternate ending with Annette being killed if you didn't find her before a specific boss fight.

Actually, that's pretty much how it was supposed to go. I read somewhere that what was supposed to happen was as you said, after you get the Holy Goggles you were to try and kill Richter while wearing them. This would then trigger a sequence with Maria running in tell you to stop. Seeing Maria causes Richter to gain back his senses before loosing conciousness which then causes the image of Shaft from the orb.

Shaft then possesses Maria and she turns into a vampire demoness who calls out the four demons of Timbat, Medusa, Akmodan II, and The Creature to kill Alucard. Afterwards, the Vampire Maria challenges Alucard herself. After being defeated she then tries to destroy Richter and Alucard along with herself through the castle's distruction, but only Alucard manages to escape...
