  • I love your channel and I love this recipe, but the ingredients screen at :05 doesn't mention noodles. It might be tricky to make a noodle soup without them.

  • It looks SO GOOOD!!! I'll definately try this one day! But question (I feel kind of silly asking this): Why do you take the foam out of the soup? I've seen you do this before in some of your other videos and I have been wondering about that. Just thought I'd ask.

  • maangchi really, don't u own a restaurant? if you don't you should totally get one, there aren't many korean food restaurants , specially in my country they don't even exist here, you can very popular your food looks awesome! so open one : DD so we can all enjoy your awesome food <3

  • hi there, about the stock, can i use chicken cube??

  • @dilmagemorefors yes, you can.

  • why would you want to add the garlic and ginger mixture first? wouldnt it burn?

  • @electricmoo88 same as when you're cooking a rissotto. Gotta sautee the aromatics to get the flavours and oils released. Should add the veggies in before the ginger and garlic burns and it will be no problem.

  • i add more pepper flakes to mine. i did not add noodles i ate it as soup!!! taste great.

  • Yummy

  • i missed out on some of the ingredients but it tasted awesome...thank u Maangchi! :)

  • i love how there so much greens in your dishes! i love my veggies!

  • hi i love this recipe but i'm cooking it for a BUNCG of people can i just make the broth and have the pre-cooked veggies and meat on the and people can just add what ever they like ...or wik it not taste the same?_? thanks in advance:)

  • @DirugazeXD It sounds great! "make the broth and have the pre-cooked veggies and meat on the and people can just add what ever they like ."

  • i tried this and i can honestly say that my family and i enjoyed the spicy Jjamppong better but dont get me wrong i love them both, they were so delicious! thank you soo much :)

  • @lidoxvietxbeb use a can of chicken broth.

  • Maangchi, thanks for your recipe!! I know how to cook this one and am eating this at least once a week. I do have a question. In Korean restaurants, often they cook with Monk Fish. Where can we buy this Monk Fish in US/Canada?

  • How come its not the bright red color I normally see in the Korean restaurants?

  • @renata13725 Add more hot pepper flakes.

  • I finally had a chance to make this and it was soooo good! I only had cuttlefish and shrimp and instead of the cabbages, I used bok choy and okra.

  • Maangchi...!!! you burned your garlic:P

  • @elzlin did I? lol

  • I have not watched this video,BUT,just by reading the ingredients, this is thee best recipe I have seen so far.Practicley nothing is left out.I would call it this recipe,

"The Asian Everything but the kitchen sink, stew" ! As Racheal Ray7 would say......YUMMO ! Now that I've said this,I will watch the entire video !

  • I made this, but it's not the same as made in Korean restuarants...the restuarants style Jjampong is much more colorful and the broth is amazing!

  • 그 야채를 뽁은후 stock을 넣잖아요

    그건그냥 물이아니고 무슨 물이죠 ?

    다시다 물인가요 ?

  • yes, it's delicious stock made with water, dashima (dried kelp), and myeolchi (dried anchovies). The detailed recipe along with some tips and photos is on my website.

  • I wonder why they make the grit pattern on the squid? I guess I can google it...

  • the grid on the squid will give it a certain texture and shape after its cooked.

  • after i seen this, i want some jjamppong right now. :)

  • the spicy one looks so good!!!

  • maangchi i make the spicy version i never taste jjiampong my life but i cook one yesterday and so delicious the other ingredients cant find so i make a repalcements n-n

  • what does the bamboo shoots bring like flavor? and can it be replaced by something else?

  • i guess its ok without it i eat ramen everyday so i knw :))

  • Hi Maangchi! here's a tip, i noticed you cooked the garlic until it turned brown. If you cook garlic for too long, it becomes bitter. :) I love your videos though! keep up the good work.

  • Great news! Say hello to your class for me!

  • wonderful! Let me know how it goes.

  • Do i really need pork for this recipe? i'm muslim so i can't eat pork, can i replace it by some other meat?

  • yes, you can replace pork with chicken, beef, or lamb

  • you can remove the pork meat and substitute it to pure beef instead. ^__^

  • You can always change any recipe to fit your life style ^_^

  • Can I Use something else than fish sause?

  • salt

  • Thank you.

  • Do I have to add squid in this dish? I don't think I can get it were I live.

And can you tell me how long you cooked the soups?

  • hi maangchi... i'm just curious. who films you while you are doing your videos?

    just asking!

  • I have a few friends helping me film

  • Could I use beef instead of pork strips? Would it make the soup taste bad or something? Thanks.

  • Yes, you can use beef.

  • Ok, Thank you.

  • Maangi, you're so fun to watch! YOu make it look so easy to make all of my childhood comfort foods I haven't had in ages! Your hands are skillful and quick, and your knife seems good and sharp...

  • Very nice looking meal! Keep on cooking those very delicious meal that i am jealous of!

  • why do we have to remove the bubbles? =D

  • it's the impurity that make up the bubbles. so essentially you are removing it to make the broth clear and "clean" for a better taste

  • Aaah I want it -Yum yum !

  • Your eccentricity is charming

  • I checked your channel and found you put "judge judy" as favorite. I love judge judy, too! : )

  • looks good! im hungry now. LOL.

  • i am drooling at 2am in the morning right now.... ahhhhhhh

  • Hi maangchi,

is there a reason why we can't add the raw noodles directly into the soup in the spicy version?

  • Good thinking! : ) I like clear soup for spicy jjampong. Noodles are cooked separately so that any starch from the noodles won't come out to the soup which makes the soup clear. The not spicy jjampong is called "woolmyeon" at Chinese restaurants in Korea. A little sticky soup goes with the mild taste.

  • ahhhh okay. thanks!

  • i liked the spicy one better but i still like both@!!! thank you maangchi!!!

  • chef is soo cute! :) she looks adorable/.. and I love her accent

  • it's kind of like hot pot with noodles except everything it's cooked before you actually add in the broth. it looks so yummy and want to eat it now!! thanks maangchi for providing these oral recipes

  • Thank you for all the good receipes and shows you made,, Maangchi. You're fantastic. I like Korean food.

  • I made this yesterday, and it was a big success. Thank you very much for the video. I've saved some soup so that I can have it with rice. ;-q So good!

  • wonderful! Congratulation! : )

  • Delicious i do it ... in i like it.

    Desde México

  • Really delicious! one of my favorite korean food... looks very nutritious too.. :-)

  • CHAM PONG IS MY FAVOURITE FOOD!! ^_^

  • Wow this looks so good! I'm def going to try this. I think you should have a cooking show on Food Network. =]

  • The starch from the noodle is going to make the mild version of Jjamppong thicker. If you add some sesame oil at the end, I'd say that looks like Wool Myun. Jjamppong is my dad's favorite.

    Thank you for your video.

  • haha, yes, it's kinda woolmyun.

  • My mom's friend used to own a restaurant that served these kinds of dishes. According to the owner, Woolmyun and Jjamppong all came from their basic House Noodle Soup (I can't remember the name). For Woolmyun they made it thicker and put some sesame oil. For Jjamppong they made it spicy. They had great noodle soups. I still remember eating them when I was pregnant. |-) :-()', I'm drooling.

  • whats the different between green onion and asian chives?

  • good question! Check my ingredient section on my website. I posted the photos of asian chives. It's called buchu in Korean.

  • oh, thank you, i think i get it! i was wondering to know what different between green onion and chives, asian chives are very different to them.

  • Jjamppong

Is it the cooking of what country?

    delicious

  • wow

  • I believe it is Chinese but with Korean twist. Traditionally people who make these kind of foods are Chinese-Koreans. And they are the best.

  • Korea

  • hi Maangchi how are you!Hope your doing good. Anyway i just have a question can you put fish in jjamppong and what kind of fish? and also in bibimbap can you also use thin slice of beef! instead of ground beef.Me and my husband absolutely love korean food they are soooo good. Thanks and take care...

  • yes, you can cut beef into thin strips for bibimbap instead of using ground beef, but in Jjamppong usually shrimp, squid, mussels, pork.. ..etc are used. If you use fish, it will be like "maewoontang"(spicy fish soup)

  • i make mine with thin sliced strip steak its awesome

  • thank you so much for this dish i make it 1 or 2 times a week now not only does it taste great it makes you feel good 5 star !!!

  • thanks a lot~!

  • What stock did you use for this dish?

  • I used 2 kinds of stock for 2 kinds of jjamppong in this video: anchovy stock and a can of chicken broth. Check my written recipes on my website.

  • Mmmmm I had this the other day It was AWESOME. I love the fact there is a huge korean community close by to were I live...The restaurant I went to was just a mom and pop place and a bit of a hole in the wall, but it was SO good. Plus you know you are in a good korean restaurant when you only see korean people eating there ;) hehe

  • I agree with you. : )

  • oh that is so true. The best restaurants (a good chunk of them) is a hole in the wall. The golden rule of "you know the food is good, if the natives eat it" is always true.

  • your shrimps are nice and fat hehe..I like big shrimps on my noodles too..

  • oh, yeah? then don't cut it in half then.

  • I love your videos! You make cooking Korean food look so easy. I wish you knew how to cook Vietnamese food too so I can cook some for my husband.

  • omg that looks so good!!! You make things look easier lol, can't wait to try it at home!

  • Oh my, I'm literally salivating - LOL! It looks so delicious!

  • thank you for posting this. when I was in Korea I would always get what I think was called sam sal jjampong which was 3 seafood. It had sea cucumber, baby octopus, shrimp and vegetables in spicy broth with noodles. regular jjamppong had only pork, vegetables and noodles.

  • hi! long time! You requested this dish long time ago! yes, samsun jjamppong contains sea cucumber. You can use more hot pepper flakes and oil according to your taste. Check out my written recipe on my website.Thank you!

  • You should definitely make a video for Ddeok-Guk! I absolutely loved this soup when I was younger!

  • rice cake soup (ddeokguk) recipe will be posted

    later. thank you!

  • I think Jjamppong is making with a big pot, but you use small one. :)

  • I love eating spicy and hot food in chinese restaurant, so I order Jjamppong and eat lots of onion with Choonjang :)

  • I really want to try both the spicy and non spicy versions!

Could I use the chili flake / vegetable oil mixture to add a little spicy flavor the non-spicy Jjamppong?

Great recipes as always thank you for sharing!

When can we expect to see you on your own cooking show!? :)

    Jamie

  • Next time Can you cook 수제비 plz!? xD

i really wanna to know how to cook it :)
