The Midnight Club ran from 1985 to 1999, when it disapeard after two persons were killed in an accident when a group of high-speed bikers decided to 'play' with the Midnight Club with a fatal ending for one f them and an innocent motorist. As was the club policy, such a happening would cause the club to be disbanded immediately and forever. This wikipedia entry is very interesting indeed

@vboytan I'm not sure what do you mean... true what? I also like more the touge driving, but I reckon that wanagn racing is not only about more power. It is also very important how to tune the suspension and the aero parts (not to mention brakes...) to have a car that can respond in a controllable manner to steering inputs at very high speeds. And you need confidence and big bollocks to dodge other cras ar 250+ km/h and go up to 300km/h or more in a public road... at night.

@vboytan An accident on the touge 'can' have a fatal end, but not so often. An accident on the wangan at those speeds... well... But as I said, I prefer touge driving. Excelling corners is more to my taste than higway high speed, but I like also to take a look at the specs of those high powered wangan-like machinery.

@alamos8 Well just because their price for failure is greater doesn't mean they're any better. They just have a high risk of biting it at those speeds. But there's a special thing going on with a touge driver and his car. I mean anyone who can drive can drive the wangan style. Yes, it takes a large pair to do so but it isn't extremely difficult to do so. Also, yes they do drive very nice vehicles.

@vboytan The AE86 is reckoned as an excellent school car for touge driving, and even being quite old, is still capable, if well tuned and driven, to compete with modern cars on a touge. But... you have touched my key point with the 911. I loved the 911 since I was a 5-year old twat. I cannot really afford one, so for now I stick to my 250bhp VW Scirocco, which I like to drive on B-road (even being FWD lol :P), but I would take a 911 any moment, any day, and commit myself to 120% to master it.

Japanese insurance rates are higher than North Americas and its cheaper to mod with domestic parts. i bet ethos inflates gas prices since they have no competition. import taxes are high to protect their economy and domestic manufacturers. Most high end imports like E-class Benz or Audi S4 are presidential style than performance but BMI has shown a Viper SRT10, some 911/boxster/carrera Porsches, a lotus and a C6 Z06 vette at used performance dealerships.

@sonic911  even if you got a "better" car, you'd still have to buy racing suspension for it, stock suspension, on ANY road car, is SHIT on a race track. And don't even get me started on stock gear ratios and unnecessary weight and "all-weather" tires, more like "all-shit" tires. A specifically track modified and tuned Miata, Silvia, or civic type R, will hand a bone stock Ferrari F355s ass right back to it around a race track, and you'd still be spending about a tenth of the money, maybe less.
