I saw this movie back in the summer of 1988 when lived in Omaha Nebraska, i was 7 years old and loved it despite being sad over Bambi's mother. I had some Mcdonalds toys, a stuffed Thumper (Gotta admit he's an adorable critter), coloring books, a readlong book with cassette, PVC sears toys and t-shirt. I had the movie on video for my 8th birthday.
@Johnlindsey289 The McDonald's toys for this were awesome! I remember it being the first set of truly neat McDonald's toys that got me into collecting them for years. I only recently stopped and just occasionally still get some if they're really great, but these were the first! I also had a plush Thumper since I was super little, and it got really old and worn out, ha.
I remember going to see this with both of my parents. I think I was about 4 or 5 at the time. I was completely drawn into the story and didn't say a word until the part where Bambi's mother got shot, I cried.
Funny thing is when it showed Bambi and his friends as adults, I kept asking: "Where's Bambi?" because I was looking for the fawn. Ha ha!
Man, I miss the good ol' days. They don't make movie's like this anymore. *Sigh*
@TimKangaroo The movie was released on video in 1989, a year after the final re-release then the video went into the vault until 1997. Later it was released in the Platinum Edition line in 2005 and now currently has a special edition on Blu-ray
Oh, Bambi what a great movie!! I love that movie! The next time I see it and have the money I'm no doubt gonna buy it! Doesn't Disney make the best animal movies ever!!!!? Have you seen the #2 if you have, have you noticed that its very similar to the first one? The fight is scene to scene the same as in the first!

man... they trabsformed Bambi wuith this trailer in what people thinks it is: A sucking child non sense movie... The original shows the action and staf...
But maybe in these times this kind of movie can't surprise today's kids. They prefered Shwazenneger blowing things ¬¬
I also remember seeing it in the theater. It was June of 1966, for my 7th birthday, at the old Hollywood Theater in Minneapolis. I remember that I was completely drawn into the plot and characters, and I was very concerned when Bambi lost his mother, but I don't recall crying or getting upset.
indeed this film has always been my favourite but my kid brother who is a decade younger than me thinks its rubbish! i forgive him as he is only 7 but you cant say resident evil and all that violence is better than bambi!!!
this movie scared me...

If I recall correctly, this was the last theatrical re-issue of BAMBI before it was released on home video (VHS and LaserDisc at the time).

@TimKangaroo It was released on VHS twice 1989 and 1997. A recent rumor of a blu ray release for early 2011.
