  • Thank you for your military service.

  • Thanks so much for video!! Just upgraded my Mac. Was scared to do it but it came out a success!! Thanks

  • Thanks bud. Dead simple.

  • Why is he in his military uniform?

  • So when u install ram into a Mac u do not have to install any drivers or anything? Just install it correctly and your good to go? Thanks

  • I don't see how you people keep saying it is not an unibody mac even if Apple says it is: support.apple.com/kb/SP499

    "Enclosure Precision aluminum unibody"

It looks like many people still don't know how to google for "macbook pro unibody late 2008" and see that almost every review of around the launch date already pointed the unibody design.

  • pc ram seems to be easyer to upgrade

  • Thank You!! Guy at the Genius Bar told me to buy my ram at crucial.com got the 4gb for 50.00 not too bad!

  • @miyokoj thats bad

  • mac sucks

  • @MrComputereviews dont hate what u cant afford

  • @adamnisdope i got a mac book pro and a pc you retard and macs suck balls

  • @adamnisdope also why the hell would i look this vid up if i don`t got a mac also i am running windows 7 on my mac i dislike osx but for editing its usable

  • @adamnisdope making it today and sending you a message with the link with me standing next to it and running windows 7 and osx using boot camp

  • why not get 8gb? its just 80$ on ebay lol

  • wait so the RAM increase the speed of the computer? and is it also possible to increase the storage memory so you can have more music and videos in your laptop. someone please help me!!!!!!

  • lol what are the odds everytime i search about something to do with tech its either you jon4lakers or chris pirillo which is cool.

  • I dont have that little switch thing... That isnt unibody?

  • @Iknowbetterthanthat It's the older unibody that had a removable battery.

  • 204pin ram?

  • once agian, soldierknowsbest has given me the exact information that i was looking for. and not just that but hes a badass black army guy.... soldier ur the best -SUBSCRIBE

  • Will the Mid-2009 13" MBP support 8GB of ram? How much RAM is too much?

  • You are so damn smart! Are you an apple engineer? :)

  • There is small problem with this video - It is not an unibody mac.

  • @lukas2me haha it is fuckwad

  • @lukas2me Yes it is.

  • @lukas2me yes it is...

  • @lukas2me But is it still the same process to change Ram in the Unibody Macbook ?

  • @HonKyTanKMaN that is a Unibody macbook...

  • @lukas2me this is definitely a unibody mac you dummy lol this just has a battery cover that can be removed.

  • hf

  • @lukas2me you and 15 other people are idiots

  • @FruitiSynthesis No, actually, he's right, it's not a unibody. You sir, are the idiot. Unibody's don't have the thing under to remove the battery and whatnot.

  • @MrFunEGUY internetsiao. com/apple-unveils-new-aluminium-body-macbook-pro/ do a little research - incompetent twat

  • @FruitiSynthesis Pardon me, but that link isn't valid, and yes, I did remove that space before 'com'. And actually, I'm not in the mood for a flame war, but I'll just say this. Unibody's don't have a battery cover. Here is a picture from the actual apple video: gyazo. com/f4976d37035c89c3192eedfd44ba534e.png

Here is the Apple video: youtube. com/watch?v=w6lLdFxiZPc

There's My research. Good Day, Sir.

  • @lukas2me I think it's fairly obvious that you do not have proper knowledge of the MacBook Pro and what the term "unibody" refers to. Please don't be so ignorant and use the small intelligence you have next time you choose to say something.

  • Comment removed

  • @xiocron The fact that you disagree with me does not give you reason to refer to the level of my intelligence. I own unibody mac (2009) and I could not follow this tutorial from the 1st step as my has integrated battery, there is no battery cover and the overall process of upgrading RAM looks COMPLETETLY different. The title of the video is misleading and confusing as it refers the the 2008 model ONLY. Video begs for upgrade itself but unfortunately it could affect the view counter.

  • @lukas2me this is a late 2008 unibody dude!

  • @lukas2me It is also unibody

  • thank you for the tutorial, sir! God bless you guys in every way.

  • You are unable to afford Macbook Air? Check out offer at macbook7 . com Go and get yours

    I like it

  • @RonaldSutherlands

Fucking bullshit, nothing is free you fucker

  • nice video

  • A "silent click"?

  • @fnawesomewes solid click lol

  • isnt this the late 2009 version of the mac book pro?

  • you can do it on the 13in right ?

  • This was super helpful! Thank you!

  • Ugh RAM is too expensive :(

  • Dude, you're awesome! Thanks.

  • Big up ma nigger

  • @StigTube06 ;) ;) hehhee

  • Good video, but the quality is pretty awful!!!

  • Hey man,

    Great video. One question

I have Parallels installed on my 15" Pro, I have 2GB's of ram and it starts to lag when running 2-3 programs (lets say safari, windows MS Office, and Itunes). Will adding another 2GB or going to 8GB help with this issue?

    Thanks.

  • can your macbook go up to 8gb of ram

  • I can't say enough times that if you own a "classic" aluminium macbook unibody (you know, before the rename) upgrading your RAM is the best thing you can do to your performance. You know, they are supplied with 2x1GB DDR3 memories, so if you want 4 Gb, they must go. But, on top of that, those are only rated 533 Mhz... and the FSB on the macbook is 1066 mhz. So in short, the ram is slow. With the 2x2Gb ddr3-1066 setup tho, you get the 1:1 FSB:RAM ratio, which is the best possible as far as I know.

  • @zelehun

Hm. Ignore the 533 mhz part. Somehow under windows it shows incorrect number, under os x you can see its 1066. Still, 4 gb helps a lot :)

  • nice work!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • can the 13inch macpro uni body support 5gb (1gb+4gb) memory configuration?

  • @ricosun: yes, it can do.

  • i was searching for your channel for 3 months now....thank God i found you, which was an accident.

  • Very nice cool man!!!! Thanks!!! Very helpfull!!!

  • Is that true that if you upgrade your mac, you void the warranty?

  • Kind of...

but if you decide to upgrade your ram yourself, keep the standard ram. If you have to get it serviced, put in the standard ram for when you get it serviced, and they'll never know as long as you don't break anything in the process.

  • Hi mate, You havent told to unscrew the bottom screws, thats importand

  • @hupa2004 its sort of oviious

  • Hmm...My macbook pro is full uni-body...no little levers to pull on :/ I could get 8 gigs! but obviously not the same way you're explaining...Btw does exchanging the ram void warranty?

  • where did you buy your RAM from?

  • How come your MBP has a 2 piece bottom ?! Mine has a one piece.

Btw i just got it about a month ago in singapore does that make any difference ?

  • @ShINmerZ Your Macbook Pro is a newer version..

  • This vid just made me a subscriber. Great job.

  • Where did you get this screwdriver set from? can you give me a link please mate

  • any local hardware store should have it

  • okay, i will subscribe!

    great video by the way!

  • Great video

  • If you open the back ( The main piece), doesn't that void your warranty.... I heard theres like a little sticker or something that if it breaks off you void your warranty... Idk ( Great VId) :)

  • Did you forget to squeeze the little tabs back in that is located right next to the RAM?

  • what's the name of the website from which you bough your RAM for the Macbook Pro Unibody?

  • is there anyway to make the processor faster?

  • Overclocking, and its dangerous and can't be done on a Mac.

  • Stop spamming, noob. You've been reported.

  • @HelloWaffle LOL @ U

  • Laugh out loud towards you.

  • where can i buy the ram for my macbook pro unibody mid-june version? i want 2 2gb ram sticks.

    anywhere inexpensive?

  • owc or crucial

  • Crucial. Hand's Down.

  • 2gb lol

  • Smart, cool, and a patriot. SoldierKnowsBest is the man!

  • He looks like Dwight Howard!!!

  • was this ram DDR2 or DDR3 please REPLY

  • DDR3 my friend

  • .3.

  • can normal ddr3 rams for pc laptops be used??? or only apple's ram??

  • if your cpu is fast enough, yes

  • Great video! Very clear and well made. My RAM should be with me in a few days. Did you notice a visible difference in performance with 4GB?

  • YES

  • It's kinda funny.. How i keep coming across YOUR videos when searching macbook pro. Thanks for posting this!

  • oh and im in australia.

do u know of any places to buy them ddr3 rams?

  • hey, i was wondering

how much ram did you have before?

how much ram did u put in?

and how much of ram was on each of those ram things?

    sorry if there stupid questions

    im still young and learning

i have a unibody macbook with 2.4 ghz and 2gb ram,

and im gonna buy snow leopard and windows 7, so i wanna double my ram, for smooth use

    thanks :)

  • He had 2 GB (2 1GB sticks) and put in 4 GB (2 2GB sticks.) Each stick he put in had 2 GB a piece on it.

  • He answered every question right at the start man. Listen again.

  • the standard macbook pro alum 13' comes with 2 1gb ddr3 ram (total 2gbs)

he upgraded to 2 2gbs of ram (total 4gbs)

  • Cool thanks man. It helped me install my 4 gig.

  • Why i dont have that latch

  • Wait, if you already had 2 gigs of ram why did you have to get 2 sticks of 2? Couldnt you just get one and add it to the Ram that came with the computer?

  • originally it was 2 sticks of 1 gig ram = 2 gigs

  • There were two 1 gig ram sticks and there are only two slots so he had to do it this way

  • Thanks for the help! I really like your nice clean 2 window presentation. Good job.

  • Don't you need to take off the sticker? Won't it cause your Macbook to catch fire or something?

  • no you dont

  • SKB - was looking at OWC. they have a 8g ram kit for 15" early 2009 macbook pro unibody. can the 15" take that? i thought it could only take 4g max as stated on mac site

  • only mid 2009 can take 8. but i've seen many people install 6 gigabytes on theirs. one 2gb and one 4gb

  • dude you are uncrowing with 2 hands and i see you talking with your 2 hands so you have,

    my god 4 hands

  • Comment removed

  • Im confused. If you upgrade your ram, are you still going to have all your stuff that you had before the upgrade ?

  • yes, its only if u remove the HARD DRIVE that all ur data is gone. NOT THE RAM.

  • Do you void the warranty if you do this

  • yeah i heard that too.

  • No you don't

  • no you dont

  • Great Video! This has helped me a lot! :)

  • whats the name of the ram so i could look for it...

  • The full name is DDR3 1066mhz PC3-8500, 204 pins. The brand is not too important, but there're a few (Kingston primarely) that specifically say they're for macbooks.

  • I just got that same RAM upgrade for my 2.4Ghz unibody pro from OWC for $69 (including tax)...you really can't beat that.

  • You can actually buy one single 4 gb, (from OWC) but however they say you get the best performance if both sticks are with the same amount of memory, I saw some tests with 2 gb + 4 gb in the Alu MacBook Pro - and it actually works.

OWC - there you can buy a pack with (4+2gb). But its very expensive - if you ask me.

  • Question: I'm going to buy the 2.4Ghz macbook model, and I am wondering whether to upgrade to 4GB of ram. I will be doing casual video editing, mainly for yotube and maybe some casual gaming, on games like the Sims 2. Thanks in advance for any answers, and I would really appreciate you opinion.

  • you can buy the 2 gb ram version and upgrade but do not buy from apple...their ram is pretty expensive...and yes upgrade is always usefull ^^lol

  • Remember that some ram can screw your system up / in a form of computer-crashes etc.

    - but I have checked the Kingston ram for Mac, they should be 100% failure free.

  • You can NOT buy a single 4gb rambar/stick/whatever right? Only 2 4gb or 2 2gb? If I want to upgrade to 6gb.....are there 3gb ramsticks?

  • If you wanted 6 GB, you'd use one 4 GB stick and one 2 GB stick, but it'd probably be more worthwhile to just get 2 x 4GB sticks. Note that the 15" MBP can only take up to 4 GB.

  • it can address 6 GB

  • does it void the warrenty?

  • nope.

  • Where did you get your RAM from?

  • You can but them at any dedicated computer/tech store..... generally. Deepends on your country really.

  • Can I perform it with my old iBook G4

    which has 512MB Ram

  • how do u do it with the new 17inch mbp

  • my best guess is your going to skip the battery cover and go straight to the unscrewing of screws.

  • its the same.

  • hi all, i intend to upgrade my mac to a 4GB RAM as well. I also hope to have windows running on it. Do I have to assign the memory (RAM) usage to 2GB per Operating System or would the computer automatically do it. by the way, does Activity Monitor have an option/ function for assigning memory/ RAM usage for every operating system?

  • Are you going to use Boot Camp to run it or Parallels or VMWare Fusion?

  • hello, sory bout d late reply.

just installed windows on my mac using Bootcamp.

bout the Ram upgrade, i was hoping to run Windows only programs such as Autocad, 3ds Max etc (bearing in mind they are VERY Ram Intensive) whilst in Mac OSX.

I've just got d latest version of VMware Fusion.

Do u think it wuld b advisable to go ahead wit d Ram upgrade to run d afore-mentioned appilcations using VMWare fusion? Or wuld they require too much Ram to run via VMWare fusion that it wuldn't b reasonable?

  • thanks for the nice video

  • id like to do that if i only had the money to buy one XD

  • No. Thats if you do the hard drive

  • You probably got this question already but I'm gonna ask anyway. How do you like the new 17" MBP? Will you invest in this new product?

  • i think he already invested :) lol

  • LOL Funny probably did huh.. The 17" Battery that last 8 hours long..

  • could you do a vid on upgrading ram in a macbook air. cuz i just got one that only has 2 gb ofram and 75 gb of memory and its just not enough.

  • 2GB is the maximum that can go into the Air.

  • you cant. it comes max out with whatever spec u have. i think you can upgrade the SSD to 128gb max

  • Ignore that, i meant, ESD from the RAM packaging, from clothing and the Mac Book case, Should always be wearing you ESD Strap :P
