@chinchillawrangler, my 09' Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab with the 5.3L V8 doesn't go over 4,500 rpm. It has a 'rev limiter'. not to mention these trucks have torque management and speed governors that kill the fun.
5.3 not so impressive, however the V8 they're putting in the 2500's is a hoss.. Don't know exact size and specs on it but I have one in my work truck (08 Sierra 2500) and that bastard moves, much faster than that.
FYI Trucks period aren't ment for speed they are for hauling and pulling! Sheesh I don't understand why people have to say trucks are slow when they aren't made for speed. I'm sure if GM wanted this truck to haul ass they'd put a vette motor in it and call it a day!
@terryallent2 I know that also the new silverado is faster than the Denali with the same engine cause they have different suspensions. I'm gonna get an extended cab 6.2l silverado with all the goodies, prolly the LTZ trim.

no. it's not. I owned an 08 F150 and traded it in on an 09 Silverado 1500 with that same engine and rear end. And it's not faster, sorry. You're just a Ford Fan, that's all. And that's ok. But it doesn't make the truck faster. Check the specs, find a test with the 3.73 rear gear (important), against yours. And the Ford rides very rough, and not in a good way. Mine had recalls as well as 3 issues, I wasn't at all happy. So I'm back in a Chevy. Very happy so far, great truck, try it u will love
Dont Worry I did have a 09 Chevy it was the best truck i ever had. But to slow thottle response i always loved chevy but they now rely on the computers too much so thats why they are slow. I traded my 09 silverado for the F150 and I like it but not as much as iliked the silverado there is no dought in my mind that chevy is the good but like i said to many electronics. Thats something they should work on.

Ram's, Tundra's, Ford's, and even the new chevy's cant hang with my truck, for some reason. The only trucks I cant beat are SS Silverados, SVT/Lightning Ford, or the SRT10 Truck, duh. lol
Fords are very unreliable, and they're just not built well or engineered well. I have torn apart every kind of truck there is, being an independent ASE Master Tech, working at a busy shop, and the things we see going wrong with Fords are just mind-boggling. Biggest pos ever, hands down. Chevrolets, we change oil on, not many problems comparitively speaking. In my 28 years as a professional mechanic, with an engineering degree, and constant research and learning, I can assure you, Fords =suck
