Don't realy like the movie because of it's innacurate portrayal of the band (especially Jim), but i do love this scene, my favourite part has to be the shaman spirit at the end.
I'm from Greece and I'm 19 years old. I made the ''mistake'' to listen to the doors when I was 12. This concert should be remembered, not only for the qualitative music, but because it represents a completely experimental, rebellious, spiritual situation. Through these Morrison's extreme actions people broke free and watched themselves dancing ecstatically in some sort of a pure madness. We need this kind of ''heroes'' more than ever to tell us the truth. We live in the darkest times...
Theres a book called "wonderland avenue" by and about danny sugerman it´s about when he met the doors, the agency where the doors worked and recordet. and about iggy when he had his crazy party´s and when he discovered the doors. ...its a good storry, wich suposed to be real. i love it.
In March 1969 Iggy long since was leader of The Stooges (from 1967). He was nearly 22 years old (like Morrison in 1965). And he was jump down from the balcony?
"the doors and their concerts were the reason why iggy started to make music". Yes (probably not "started to make music", but Iggy created his own band). But it was not on concert in Miami 1969. It was on concert in Michigan University 1967, as far as I know.
@andyclayborne "the guy who´s jumping down the balcony (0:50) is iggi pop in his very young years." - What you mean is that they guy who jumped back in '68, what Iggy Pop.. Not the guy in movie
I don't see how they look alike at all. Maybe the hair? But whatever. Jim is a one in only. One in a life time kind of guy. Who will never be forgotten. And even if they left out A LOT, and didn't portray a lot as what really happened, it's still an amazing movie.
and im sorry to all the people who are gonna hate me for this, but i think ray hates oliver stone cause ray's a bit of a cop out. tryin to recapture the doors by getting a singer that looks a lot like jim but sounds nothing like him, feels nothing like him. no respect. fuck that. sorry. not how jim would have wanted it. long live Jim; rock on John Densmore for STAYING TRUE to Himself, the Doors, and Jim; and rock on Oliver Stone for a great movie.
for everyone bashing oliver stone, it wasn't horribly inaccurate. jim had many sides to him that they left out in the movie, they never all did peyote out in the desert, at least not that any of the band will admit, and robbie, ray, and john had all already done acid before they met jim. besides that, not TOO far off. remember, it is a movie, not a documentary, so they gonna dramatize to a degree. i'm just happy someone made a movie bout my favorite band. loved it.
i think the end was exagerated but thats what I think, the band kept playing after the stage collapsed XD and with jim running into the crowd i think thats kinda goin overboard
i agree with you too a point mate, although the portrayal of Jim may be innacurate at parts, this movie was still fucking amazing!! as is this band!!! I fucking love the doors, and i love this movie!!! I complement Stone on his work for this film, and especially Kilmer for his acting!!
lol@ the idiots that thought this was REALLY Jim Morrison. Do your research numbnuts. This is from the movie "the Doors" where Val Kilmer played Jim Morrison.
the real stage they played on was falling apart and according to robbie krieger, jim put his foot straight throgh a floorboard at one point,it was very shabby indeed, and he never said ,-cant u see that i need some head
let me just ask you one question!! if this was live footage, why in the hell would there be a fucking indian that appears out of nowhere fucktard?!!!!!
With the whole story of when he was a kid and he and his family see the indians on the road!! he, Morrison himself, has said that he felt that 2 of the indians souls left their bodies that day and jumped into his!! therefore, the indian is supposed to be a depiction of what Jim felt inside and out!!
I myself have seen Indians "seemingly" appear out of nowhere! At a Doors concert magic truly did happen! I've talked with others who've seen the Doors live. By the way, I do respect the way that you called me out; in fact, I may be falling in love..."locken69"- sounds kinky...

Val sang the songs. (but not LIVE)
Miami began with Back Door Man and then came Five to One... the movie shows, how it was in Miami. It is very similar to the real Miami show
the lamb were given Jim between Light my Fire
and no dead cats, dead rats in Miami, no Break on Through, too... but who cares? ;)

This is joke, isn't it?

@kuznik67
no it´s not a joke. you should read "wonderland avenue" by danny suggerman.
the doors and their concerts were the reason why iggy started to make music.
after reading the book i was surprised seeing him in a video doing the "balcony jump".
