What can a grandparent do when the parents are no longer together, 1 parent is living with another person and has a 2nd child with them and the grandparent has been helping by buying diapers etc. for both children and the other parent of the 1st child has been in contact with the parent that has the child but recently will not allow the other parent see the child and there is NO custody for either parent and the parent that has the child relies on their parents to help support the childs needs
@DivineTableDesigns If either parent files a claim for custody, you may be able to "intervene" in the case -- that is, become a party in the lawsuit -- so that you can ask the judge to grant you independent visitation with your grandchild. I would be happy to discuss this matter further with you if call me (Stephanie Gibbs) at my firm, Gailor, Wallis & Hunt, in Raleigh, NC. (919) 832-8488.
