  • @AdobeLessons xD Because Torrents are only for illegal stuff?

  • watch?v=SUFwoFWIP0I

  • I am running Ubuntu 11.04

  • OMG! Why u are usinf these shits. They both are made on debian. Use debian directly. It 's ogiginal system and not a parasitic system like ubuntu, kubuntu bubuntu, assbunto, xbuntu shitbunto, gaybunto

  • @sandis52 How about Macbuntu?

  • vv|nc|OVVs 7 4Eve|2

  • No. I don't like how snobbish some Linux users are and I won't associate myself with that kind of snooty, flame-baiting group. Sorry, I'm sure it's a great system and all, but I'm AGAINST flaming people, thank you very much.

  • when you set up the time my vista clock said 4:48 and you selected centeral which ubuntu said was 4:47

  • i downloadin as we speak lolz

and i just noticed ur category for this vid is pets and animals LOL XD

  • hash is illegal, so why is it a terminal command?

  • @TruBluFilms I hope you were using sarcasm...

  • Hey dude i installed Ubuntu with the help of ur tutorial but its not fullscreen, wt shuld i do ???

  • @monegarand The CDs are free of charge.

  • you did not need to download it as a torrent

  • @lamont7710 its probably faster for him that way though

  • ubuntu 10.4 is coming :)

  • @darkside1222 Ow, any release date information or something? Im about to try linux for my first time, ill try 9.10 or wait for the 10.4? :)

  • @HazakyProductions 1 more day until 10.04 yay1

  • @HazakyProductions wait for 10.04

  • What if I don't want to delete everything on the drive to use Linux? I just wanna change OS. How would I do that. And how would I give it the MAC OS Leopard look.

  • I was downloading unbuntu 9.10 from the ubuntu site wiyh microsoft windows driver when it was like 80% done it says error ,this was really bad

  • Whow. That's really weird... My installation is command-based (like DOS installer...)

  • @IllegalMavamaarten Did you download the alternate installer?

  • @attackofthepoprocks ummm... My ISO file says alternate...

    I don't know why though...

Aww I'll download it again... (I used the torrent download, because that's much faster since I have a slow connection...)

  • @IllegalMavamaarten You can install it with the alternate, however partitioning will be harder. I would recommend that you torrent the regular and use WUBI to install it.

  • @attackofthepoprocks I downloaded the 'desktop' version, and now it works.

I was trying to put linux on my USB stick, using some USB installer from pendrivelinux. It worked, but I couldn't save any preferences... Now I opened up my old PC, removed the HDD (so it won't install on the HDD), plugged in my USB stick, booted from a live CD, and it started installing (I told it to create a bootloader on the USB) ! Now installing, I really hope it works :P

  • @thedippytheory He uses WIndows 7 :/

  • vai toma no cu essas porra de videos em Ingles é uma merda pelo menos poe uma tradução para Portugues

  • i use wubi to install ubuntu so now i can dual boot ubuntu, and vista

  • I have a dell with XP installed on it. I want to dual boot install ubuntu on it. I'm worried if the software drivers will be compatible (sound, video, etc.) Anyone know?

  • @Vektr1 same question. Someone should be able to anwser.

  • @fdemey I installed every thing seems to be working fine (driver wise). ALTHOUGH, if you're video card is an ATI, you might experience issues. Screen freezing, not loading up, etc. Happened to me.

  • Dude put ubu as ur primary OS it kicks win7's butt

  • haha sure it does... not

  • @enterZ IT DOES!!

  • does not. tried it today and my games dropped 10-20fps. so no. sux. love the idea but game suport it needs better.

  • @enterZ Well thats the problem, games are made by paid companys mostly (as in paid i mean like activision etc) but the more ppl who adopt linux theyll notice and start releasing games on tht platform or alt until tht time u cud use game consoles :/ but tbh everything else (well mostly) i prefer on linux thn windows. meh

  • well may be true m8. but ive been on ubuntu for some time now. and im testing it for my likings. so far sa i told u before. love the idea... but it still needs some work. atm im still trying it but i allso have win 7 (bought) and so far ive not seen 1 bug and they rly did a good job on win 7. i now like it better than XP

  • @enterZ he ought to put windows 7 in a vbox :P

  • @zikalify From what I'm seeing here, I'm not impressed. How can you do anything in that claustrophobic space? Why the ugly orange/brown color scheme? What's with the weird hybrid of Windows' taskbar and Mac's Upper screen bar up top?

I'm sure Ubuntu's a nice OS, but to me it just looks cluttered and messy. I'll keep Win7, thanks.

  • @ThePhantomSafetyPin you can customise everything on ubuntu however i wouldnt but plz check back on the 10/10/10 on their site as ubuntu 10.10 i looking excellent

  • @ThePhantomSafetyPin also the colour scheme is black purple and orange currently in 10.04

  • @zikalify That sounds Halloween-y. XD

  • yeeah this is good shit maan

  • If i install this program will it erase my vista programs and so forth? do you need antivirus?

  • @thethewiLLbuR no it doset remowe vista

  • Also Linux does not get viruses, it is more secure to began with

  • Erm, if you format your harddrive and use ubuntu as your primary OS then say goodbye to vista, if you put it in virtual box then it just runs in its own window as a windows program. If you want ubu running on ur pc as an OS like vista you can partition the HDD but u sound like a noob so i wouldnt suggest it ;)

  • @thethewiLLbuR YES you need antivirus for Linux, though Linux-users swear Linux NEVER gets viruses or spyware because it's "more stable" than Windows. You really do need it, regardless of OS.

  • Yes Ubuntu 9.10 is great just installed it on Vmware and its working pretty good

  • I currently have Vista, but when I try to log on to any of my accounts (including the administrator) I get the message "The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded." Safe mode doesn't work. System Restore doesn't work. I want to try Ubuntu. Is there a way to install it without logging on to a profile? If not, I'm screwed.

  • Yes, there is a way. You will need to use someone else's computer to download Ubuntu, and burn it to the disc using that computer. Place the disk in your drive, restart, and make sure that the CD Drive is the first boot priority. This is default on most computers, so don't worry. Then just install... You can even get rid of Vista completely if you want to. This is a little advanced, so you might want to do your homework and get a little help. Hope I helped.

  • then what is the use of using a virtual machine

  • @sreeju050 He's not trying to use a virtual machine, his computer's screwed up because of Vista and he's thinking of switching completely to Linux.

  • Yes, you can download ubuntu to a flash drive, or a CD (google how to install ubuntu on either) boot from it and poof bi pass windows.

  • what kind of laptop are you using? Whats the ram size?

  • the best way to dual boot it with wubi installer....

  • nothing pops up at 3:13

  • I actually think your pc is too slow xD

  • I currently have Vista but I now get an error message when I try to log on saying that my user profile couldn't be loaded or found or something. I tried System Restore but it failed. I'm not very familiar with Ubuntu or Linux. I don't want to pay for a new copy of Windows right now. Would downloading and using the new version of Ubuntu be practical for me in my situation? Would it be very difficult for me to get used to after using pretty much only Windows Operating Systems?

  • @matthewgsteel Well... do you have the back-up/Install discs for Vista? You may need to format the whole harddrive... I'm afraid I'm not terribly familiar with the picky Vista, though Windows 7 works a lot like it...

  • Hi i got text "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" when i start my computer

  • Is virtualBox safer than Dual Booting it?

  • not really mate. u cant have all the fancy effects in virtual box...

  • but you dont fuck your windows...

  • Can you show me a way to install this without using the whole hard drive? I have it installed right now and I have no other os. I have an 80gb hard drive and I really want to be able to take advantage of the space, thank you =]

  • can you play games

  • when i try to install linux it tells me to install boot helper, so i do and an error comes up right at the end... can you please help me or tell me a way i can just boot from the CD in Bios?

  • Thanks a lot....

  • category- pets & animals??

  • so i have this old computer i am restoring, and i want to put xp on it, but i can boot from an xp disk it says somithing about protecting the computer, so i went to install this boot up and then install xp but it wont read my hard drves when it comes to the partition manager any help?

  • NICE VIDEO

  • Do u have to have a previous os system to boot ubuntu? or can u boot on a whiped hard drive??? and if u can,, how do u do it?

  • @Dreambro1 Hey dude, I booted it on a wiped HD today. You'll need access to another computer/burner. But you go to ubuntu(dot)com, and DL the file. Then follow the instructions on ubuntu website to burn the disk properly so it opens as an image file( I used a Mac, to burn ubuntu for my PC, worked great). Then simply put the CD in, and reboot/boot from CD..then relax and follow the easy instructions. PS, find your Computer screen CD(driver), cause youll want to have nice resolution. good luck!

  • why?

  • i have a question. When i do the install without any changes can i download any software or change the graphics while im in the test ubuntu, cuz i cant. Is this normal or does it mean that it wont run properly and can i boot back to windows when i install it?

  • Someone help me please! I did the 6 steps and then I hit install, after it zoomed to 15% and then an error came up "Input/Output error during write on /dev/sda" and theres the option of cancel, ignore, and retry and whichever one i choose, it goes back to 0% and then to 5% and then it just sits there :(

  • Sounds like a hard drive error. Have you had any issues with it before?

  • im using 9.04 and it works fine. maybe it a driver issue.

ill wait a couple of months to c if they fix the issue.

  • uggh :( im having probs with my ubuntu. i cant get a wireless signal or a ether signal. but ubuntu says i am coneccted.

when i click on firefox it stalls out and says connection not working. i did upgrages within the system and now it wont work

  • thanks you really did help once again thanks man

  • oh there have been some problems with the connection to the internet for some. (i still haven't fully fixed mine). but to get the internet flowing the ipv6 had to be disabled for the whole computer (do through terminal). however there was still the problem of not being able to use the updates or the download center, which is a shame. still haven't been able to figure out why.

  • For the download center, you have to update apt

  • thanks will try that. hopefully that was all the problem was.

  • i can't connect to the internet now on my virtual machine. any suggestions? thanks. it's not only with ubuntu but with my other virtual machines.

  • me either

  • im thinking of getting this for my netbook because the best value netbook (acer 531with a 6 cell battery) i can get for my money unfortunately comes with the pathetic windows 7 starter edition. normally i thought of linux as unstable and onofficial, but compared to that pathetic failure microsoft just came up with its worth a shot.

  • you sir are incorrect windows 7 was a huge success.

how come you don't like it its fully customizable and has touch features

  • You can't customize Windows 7 Starter. It's a piece of shit. However, Home Premium and Ultimate are huge successes.

  • You are correct i didn't read that you were getting starter im so sorry

    im embarrassed

    lol

  • its k

    ; )

  • @vlaxatron He's not calling Win7 shit (because it's awesome), he's calling Eindows 7 STARTER shit (which it is). Read more closely next time.

  • plssssssss someone help me . I hav installed ubuntu in my system . but after rebooting the system it gives me options when Im entering ubuntu it shows "errer:no such device : edaa5f20-6eef-4e91-9f00-3e8e8c3f6484" and says press any button to continue..

  • reinstall it. easiest thing to do.

  • what program did you use in the intro again? VMware?

  • Virtualbox

  • BEST OS EVAR

  • windows XP is the best. Linux not suporting all XP. only some is a huge Blow. AMD ATI catalyst there is some known issues from AMD. so some of the earlier ATI earlier models are not working. to tv Graphics card. or for playing games. tvu player & cnet. I might just leave it on . I did a dual boot so I can go into XP then sign out & go to Linux but I still want to learn the darn thing.

  • i agree.

windows xp for me at least has more functionality.

ubuntu 9.10 ath5k wifi driver dosent support tx turbo mode so downloads take forever also i download alot of video using orbit wich u cant use in linux and wget really isint meant for that.

on the plus side linux dosent need antivirus and has alot of neat tools for cracking wifi networks and all the programs are free.

the only o/s that could replace windows would be osx

for this reason i prefer a dual boot

  • Linux > MAC > Windows imo (:

But still Windows > All in gaming :b

  • linux is getting better. it's only recently been accepted by the mainstream so all that really needs to be done is someone release a very good super stable release that can automatically configure drivers and not leave that burden on the end user.

they have a golden opportunity right now with the failure of vista many people are disgruntled with windows and are refusing to upgrade from xp to 7 and instead are using mac and even trying linux.

now is the time for them to make their move.

  • You can't compare those operating systems in that way. Windows is for gamers, Ubuntu is more free and is way faster and I use Ubuntu on my laptop so I quickly can take notes and surf the internet and watch movies, and then use my desktop PC for gaming which runs XP (: Linux is faster and safer than XP and therefore I'd prefer that if it was easier to play on it (: You just have to learn the basics of the UNIX, then Ubuntu is pretty easy (:

  • ATI catalyst is not working ?

    Majicjack is not working

    TVU is not working

Download cnet dose not support Linux

I installed ( Wine ) for installing Windows Software on Linux. not getting any ware Help what should I do

  • go to ubuntuforums(dot)com and searc for a solution to your ati problem.

wine only supports a few windows programs so i would recommend doing a dual boot install of ubuntu and windows that way you have the ability to run any windows app you need and when you want to play around with ubuntu you can do that to.

  • @camboy1132

1st of all, ATI doesn't keep it's Linux drivers up to date. So don't count on any native Linux support for an ATI card outside of unofficial or old drivers.

  • oh man i just got a laptop with 9.10 installed.....AWSOME

  • uhuhu it has hrvatski :DDDD

  • is there a way to use netflix under ubuntu ?

  • Why would you torrent something free?

  • Because it's faster. I get 800kbps on regular downloads, but when I torrent stuff I get about 1.5mbps.

  • thanks.

software logos all look like a "biohazard" warning to me.

  • Any particular reason why you downloaded this file as a torrent? That's just asking to waste your time. Essentially you can download Ubuntu _free_ from their official website, with a pretty decent download speed.

  • Well, because if you've got a high download speed, the Ubuntu servers won't have enough upload speed to give you the full download speed. Torrents, however, do give you that ability.

And besides, it feels good seeding Ubuntu, knowing that you can spread the word without saying anything :)

  • You've made an excellent point clarifying. :p

  • Thank you :D

Torrents are great, legally and illigally :)

  • Going by the post date, this video was released *on the day of* the final release of Ubuntu 9.10. If you chose to NOT download via torrent, you'd be making a mistake. Ubuntu's servers are notorious for crashing on release days, and torrents are the perfect invention to counter-act this. On download days there are hundreds of users seeding the download and you get great speeds.

  • Couldn't have said it better.

  • does this ubuntu support my driver of my GeForce FX5500?

  • Does this version of ubuntu have 1440x900 resolution ?

  • Depends if your graphics card is supported, which it should be.

  • yeah i know but ive never been able to configure it, im not new but i could never do the xconfigure thing w.e my grapics card is nvidia geforce 6150 le , i dont know how, if u could help me that would be great, i love ubuntu

    thanx

  • Looks like NVIDIA isn't supported, but you could search for "nvidia 6150 driver ubuntu" in Google.

  • Wait.. Would you need XP, then install Ubuntu?

Or, can you install it without XP?

  • you could order the free cd that would come in 6 weeks and then install it without windows by putting the cd in before you turn on the computer

  • 600 kb/s?

i can get 170 kb/s if im lucky.

  • No offence but why not use Wubi for windows.....I mean that's simpler..

  • Vbox can be used for a bunch of other OSs too. Vbox also has more options for Virtual Devices

  • Just curious, How much RAM do you allocate for the VHD, I just started using virtualbox. I got 3 gigs of RAM running win7 64bit, whats a good amount to give the guest OS?

  • around 1GB/750MB

  • Ok thanks, also quick question. On ubuntu 9.10 have you had problems with the Guest Additions? After awhile I finally got them to install but still couldn't change resolution and started running really slow? Is Vbox's GA not up to date for 9.10?

  • Ubuntu 9.10 disabled my soundcard output on Windows 7. I'm not sure if it's a Ubuntu bug or a motherbord bug. I'm just hoping that the next April 2010 release does not screw up a lot more devices.

  • Just because you are incapable of understanding it does not make it rubbish, thank you very much. ;)

I'd rather that dumb people stick with Windows anyway.

  • @rhillner See, this is the reason I will NEVER use a Linux-based machine. Assholes like you pick on Windows users, and I DON'T deal with elitist shitheads that pick on others because of their freaking OPERATING SYSTEM.

Linux users that can't be nice aren't worth my time, and frankly, most of the Linux users I''ve met *aren't nice*.

Save yourselves the time, guys - use Mac OSX before a Linux machine. Do you *really* want to associate with people who slam other because of what OS they use?

  • no offense dude, but why would you install ubuntu linux on a virtual machine? it's pointless as technically you're still running windows. linux is there as a windows Alternative. If you wanted to try it out I would've suggested a dual-boot

  • Because installing it in a vm is easier than duel booting if you just want to test it...

  • when i tried to install it through an upgrade when finished and on first boot it would just freeze when Compiz Fusion thing popped up. i then reinstalled 9.04 and upgraded without that and it was not compiz fault. then i downloaded it and burn it to a disk and when i get to the partition creator nothing comes up :/ the 64Bit version brings up the partiition menu but not the 32 and this is a 32Bit PC :( I got windows 7 RC on it now >.>

  • Its to buggy, no sound drivers and its slow

  • i upgraded to it, and i have no problems with sound, and it's not slow in the slightest. maybe it's something with your hardware configuration? :\

  • I know, I have sound problems with all linux OSs EXCEPT for Ubuntu.

  • no sound in 9.10,,sorry I ditched Jaunty..

rollback time, not worth upgrade trouble,

    still Ubuntu is good OS

  • on my desktop:

    core2 duo e7400 2.8ghz

    4gb ddr2 ram 800mhz

    gigabyte 9400gt 512mb ddr2 64bit it runs so slowly !

windows is still better & more reliable!

  • yeah i know i just use vm

  • Kill the noise next time.

  • hey anybody? will windows crash if i overwrite task manager and registry editor?

  • @storm4me As far as I know, yes...

  • how do u install windows me? the beeping cd isnt bootable

  • I downloaded at 1mb/s but my installation freezes on that glowing ubuntu logo... can you tell me if im doing anything incorrect?

  • Does it work with Broadcom Wireless?

  • i think so check the forums to be sure

  • it does!

  • mine did. I have a gateway mx7118 and it uses broadcom and it worked. worst that might happen is you need an ethernet to hook up and download a driver.

  • Problem is I CANT USE ETHERNET because the router is in a different room.

  • @Windows446 I'm sorry. Don't get it just yet. I updated and it worked fine. I fresh installed and had to take 2 Tylenol for the headache I got after 4 hours of internet digging. I have it back up and running so if you ever need a guide for BCM4318's driver let me know. I found one floating around that worked.

  • get a 100 ft ethernet cable :)

  • Fuck ethernet :)

  • Ubuntu rulz

  • Wtf I have 9.04 now went to download 9.10 and it's downloading only 191 KB/s, wtf is this shit? I'm not paying for that... God damn Internet...

  • What the f*ck 700 KB/s upload speed ?

  • Good or bad?

  • THATS AWESOME, I've got like 32 KB/s upload speed and 400 KB/s download speed.

  • Karmic is garbage. Stick with LTS releases

  • able the last ones were.

  • can you play games on ubuntu (like GTA IV or Half-Life 2) just like on Windows XP?

  • Yes you can.You need to get Wine for Linux,

    winehq()com

    Replace () with .

  • ok so that means no

  • No it doesnt. You actually can run.Look on other videos here. They can play GTA SA on linux.

  • if you have Wine then I think so

  • @SmileysAreForN00bs You have to get the Linux version of the game, because if you want to run Windows games you need WINE.

Seriously? If you want to game, use Windows, not Ubuntu. It's just not a gaming OS.

  • BEST OS EVAR?

    what is that?

  • finally something I enjoy!

  • I will try it using Wubi!

  • bravo!

i might switch to it someday lol

  • I really like ubuntu, i have 9.04 but i will try out 9.10 soon.

  • i have 9.04
