People in EU countries democratically elect a leader and government to run their country. Government ministers sit at the council of ministers (European union council) to agree on policy
European citizens from each country elect MEPs who represent them at the European Parliament.
The MEPs and the elected governments of each EU country go on to decide who becomes the president of the European Commission which acts alot like the civil service.
You obviously do not understand how the EU works. Instead of you going about it from the bottom up, I will explain that it works from the top down: 12 or 13 unelected (its called the politburo) burocrats (the powerful) decide on the directives. The EU parliment discuse the directives (they have 60 seconds each) and pass them. Thats it! The only purpose of our so called goverments in London or Dublin is to rubber stamp what the EU tell them. If the 12 or 13 unelected Bureaucrats you are talking about are the EU commissioners then how can you miss out the valid point that the MEPs and the national governments select who becomes the president of the EU commission and approve their team in the first place.
In the USA people elect Senators, Congressmen and a President. The President decides who he wants running big departments (defense etc) and then congress approves them. This is a very similiar practice.
Not enough people bother to vote in the european elections to justify passing on more decisions to the voters but i accept the EU should be far more open.
As soon as you suggest having the President of the EU commission elected by voters across the EU you are moving far quicker towards the federal United States of Europe some dream of.

How would this be undemocratic? Please learn about constituency in democracy. No citizen of a European nation is a constituent to another. A German can not vote for the England head of the state. An English cant vote for a dutch head of the state. Why? Because of constituency. Article 1 : All peoples have the right to self-determination. By virtue of that right they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic and cultural development.
The European Arrest Warrant is also in violation of the same Covernant ( Article 9).

There is now an online petition asking the Queen of the UK to deny Royal assent to the Lisbon Treaty; this would mean it could not become law in the UK and would therefore fail. Just google "queen petition lisbon treaty."

People in EU countries democratically elect a leader and government to run their country. Government ministers sit at the council of ministers (European union council) to agree on policy
European citizens from each country elect MEPs who represent them at the European Parliament.
The MEPs and the elected governments of each EU country go on to decide who becomes the president of the European Commission which acts alot like the civil service.
The EU is not that undemocratic

You obviously do not understand how the EU works. Instead of you going about it from the bottom up, I will explain that it works from the top down: 12 or 13 unelected (its called the politburo) burocrats (the powerful) decide on the directives. The EU parliment discuse the directives (they have 60 seconds each) and pass them. Thats it! The only purpose of our so called goverments in London or Dublin is to rubber stamp what the EU tell them. Nobody we elect can changes anything. Democracy my arse

If the 12 or 13 unelected Bureaucrats you are talking about are the EU commissioners then how can you miss out the valid point that the MEPs and the national governments select who becomes the president of the EU commission and approve their team in the first place.
In the USA people elect Senators, Congressmen and a President. The President decides who he wants running big departments (defense etc) and then congress approves them. This is a very similiar practice.

Not enough people bother to vote in the european elections to justify passing on more decisions to the voters but i accept the EU should be far more open.
As soon as you suggest having the President of the EU commission elected by voters across the EU you are moving far quicker towards the federal United States of Europe some dream of.
At the moment the MEPS and governments are the elected representitives not the EU commission who with such backing would be even more powerful than it is now

How would this be undemocratic? Please learn about constituency in democracy. No citizen of a European nation is a constituent to another. A German can not vote for the England head of the state. An English cant vote for a dutch head of the state. Why? Because of constituency. This silly line brings that China voting for entering the EU should happen because they would collect more votes than the rest of the European nations.

2) the composition of this text was purposely to obscure its reading on the part of anyone
3) "constituency in democracy" The laws are written by an unelected EU Commission, and the MEPs aren't even allowed enough time to debate them, let alone do their own research. MEPs are given sheets with the votes Yes/No they have to give (!!!). TheCZMan wants to call this "democratic" -whatever.
