I think even the chi hua hua NEX 5 's at 1080p video quality can beat the video quality of the 5D that you produced here in your show. But in real life it will be never.
Using a Canon 40D at the moment, and really ready for an upgrade.
My brother was wondering which one would suit best for video recording. I'm pretty sure its the 5D(How is the DoF on it compared to 7D?) besides I know 5Dmkii is an excellent camera for photography as well. lenses available for us is 24-70 F2.8L and 17-40 F4.0L
the AWB is a bit off especially with the higher iso. pay attention to the light coming in the window hitting the ceiling. 7d looks much warmer and the 5d is greenish. if you manual WB it the green color shirt on the 7d would pops out a bit more.
Idk what's going on here cause the 7D looks really bad and blurry compared to the 5D in this video. I know the 5D is great at video but it cant be this big of a difference.
Im very new to these kinds of cameras. Does the autofocus work in video mode? Does the bigger mm lens give you more zoom? Im thinking of getting this for my first "dslr" camera and just want to know because ill be making lots of videos and need zoom.
in daylight, the sharpness of 7d is a better deal. but in lowlight 5d kicks 7d to the grave. makes me confuse which one to buy. when will 5d mark iii out to market?
@newhousefilmsuk Your comment is a month old, but I'm gonna respond anyways.
The ISO performance of the 5D II isn't worth the upgrade. the 5D II is a whole year older than the 7D and literally the only REAL advantage is the full frame sensor. But they are for different purposes anyway: 7D a sports camera with it's 19 point AF-system and 8 frames per second. 5D: landscapes, portraits, etc.
Also if the rumors are correct the 5D III will be a low light camera. Probably with the sensor from the 1DX.
@thefan12345 he says because the lens performs worse on 16mm but he is just plaine out of focus lol. the lens mentioned may not be at its best on that focal length but still is the best available and is very good lol
@zAtt1337 So your point is, with the 7d you can achieve almost perfect performance in low light, but with the 5d you can do the same with a tighter aperture. Am I right?
@namrur2 because of his sensor. look at 1:16 that on Canon 7d you can se more of that is inside of the window. But with 5d u can se more in shadow area. So take that in mind while buing that :)
I also got both the cameras. 7d is useful cos u got 60f per second, and not just 30 as 5d mkII, and also a double digic 4. good for slow motions, to push the lenses thanks to the mid frame etc, but when u compare the two with the same lenses the difference exists! Even for videos 5dII is a step higher.
Something wrong there on your first shot with the 5D so blurry. Looks like you did not focus the camera. The background is sharp but not your subject. The 5D is way better than the 7D by far.
@skyh2k the canon 16-35 probably covers a better focal range for the 7d IMHO. The canon 24-70 is nice but it's also huge and if your going to be shooting in smaller spaces (indoors) the zoom length isn't as useful.
I was really torn between the 5D and the 7D, mainly over the outdated 9-point auto focus of the 5D but after watching these videos, its obvious the 5D is the clear winner with video. Even at the disadvantage of shooting at a less than ideal zoom level, the 5D still kicks ass. I guess that's why movie producers prefer the 5D over the 7D. Great video, thanks for posting it!
@PaulPradaShow Once you get used to the very nice auto focus system on the 7d, the 5d's AF system feels lacking. But in video mode the 5d mark II still beats the 7d by a fare margin. I'm hoping the 5d mark III is just a 7d with a full frame sensor, no line skipping, and audio level meters. That would be enough for me to upgrade. But canon will probably do something stupid like release a 4 1/2d with one feature that no other camera has, but nothing you actually wanted.
@onelonedork i'm a newbie to DSLR, never had one. I like the full frame thing but there is a big price diff and the slight advantage the 5d has doesn't seem worthwhile and i only care and need great video quality.
Frankly, i have seen great and bad youtube videos for every single DSLR camera thus far, its seems like everything needs to be corrected in post anyway and they can all be made to look nearly identical, is this an accurate observation?
@PaulPradaShow My 5D II always shot on the "soft" side. Got real tired of that real fast. Sold it and went with a 7D. Shame they put such a crappy focus system into an otherwise great camera. 7D is working way better for me.
the 5D looks better in low light. but still if i had either camera, id be very happy because they're both amazing cameras. i have the t2i and i love it too. but id be happy to have a 7D if i cant afford a 5dmk2. great test video! keep em going! :D
@charvelgtrs The audio fix for the t2i makes it a much more useful camera overall. I wish the 7d had the audio upgrade given to the 5d mark II because the build quality is much better then the t2i. Until then the t2i is a much better value. For the price of the 7d you could buy two t2i's just in case you brake one.

Take in mind that 5d markII is better in dark lpaces, but the 7d is performing better in lighter areas.

@77mrd try to look at the videos not full screen but as u see them on youtube. The smaller is the video size, the less you see the grain.
FrancescoTNM 8 months ago
@FrancescoTNM absolutely, when I trans code HD to standard def the grain tends to be a lot less noticeable.
