  • Sounds like a '69 Charger at idle and a Zonda when revving! :D

  • better than sex.. yum! Don't tell my man!

  • any down-sides or is it all good?! nothing sounds like that!! awesome...

  • Does it still try to kill you at every corner? :-)

  • mmh...yummi =P

  • That sounds fit as fuck on idle

  • I was gonna leave a comment saying how my R6 with a straight through race exhaust sounds better, but Jeez i think you may have won this one!!

  • Beeeeeeeutiful! If TVR's had better build quality and reliability, they would be the best sports cars in the world. I HAVE to get a Chimaera at some point...

  • @dauer962roadcar

The TVR quality/reliability stuff is mainly myth...given the type of car.

    I've had 5. Get one bought ! :)

  • @grahamw56

I used to own an Alfa Romeo...no worse than that? Too bad I live in the U.S. :(

  • Gawd makes me come over all funny - is that normal for women? ;-)

  • makes you wonder why the hell they put those on there to begin with!!!

  • is it california sage color?

  • Possably the best sound in the world, gives you tha horn

  • nice

  • sounds amazing! Im gona get dad to revome the silencers out his chimy :P

  • Sounds like an old tug boat on idle lol

  • My dad's sounds exactly the same XD

  • I came twice...

  • sounds just like my land rover, its the same engine and everything

  • slightly modded by tvr... lol

  • sweet!!!

  • ahhahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

  • brutal

  • porca troia che sound!!!

  • BONER!! wen im 26 im getting 1, surprisingly cheap, i mean i cud afford 1 n i work in tesco XD

  • oh my god. I just had a small sex wee...very tasty indeed....

  • that sounds tasty!!!!!

    love it!!!

  • makes a corvette sound like a ford sedan or somethin lol

  • @deathrehab as far as i know its based on a 60's Buick engine, prob wat gives it that old GM sound

  • @superdooperroofer Yep, based on the alloy Buick 215, but substantially rewored to suit British cars and production methods. By the time this TVR was built it had been stretched from its original 3.5 litres to 4.0 or 4.6 out of the factory, and specialists have stretched them to as much s 5.3 with over 520bhp. Not bad for a 40+ year old engine design.

  • Mine is in this weekend getting a sleeved silencer ready for the Thunder in the Tunnels run later this month - 150+ tvrs cruising London early on a sunday - awesomeness on a stick!

  • Absolutley Incredible!! one of my top 5 favorite sounding cars!

  • roaring, running and beauty only TVR

  • the tick over sounds like the Merlin engine from a Spitfire!

  • i want one! that can't be legal surely lol

  • I bet thor drives a tvr...

  • so u just removed the silencers thats all????

  • just removed the centre silencer... all cats still in place!

  • now thats a good sound.

  • Sounds like Thunder

  • WOW fantastic sound !!!!

  • is this a 450 ???

  • 400 with high compression

  • HC stands for High-Lift Cam

Came with a hotter Cam than standard... hence the nice bumpy idle!

  • oh thanks, i tought that HC was for High compression

  • HC on the V8 stands for high compression not hotter cam.. the 4.0 ltr HC engine runs a slightly higher compression ratio to the 4.0 ltr . The cam profile is the same in both engines.

  • NOPE! HIGH LIFT CAM!!!! Same cam as the 5.0. The 5.0 also had a badge saying HC and some didnt... come people think they are different, they arent. Comp ratio on all TVRR8s is about the same... actually qute high anyway! Look it up in the TVR literature or the Steve Heath bible. Make sure of your facts before correcting someone! thanks.

  • Hi .. ok if thats what you want to think then fine... you keep reading the books.. and i'll keep building and modding the V8s... ;o) thanks.

  • who need a radio when u got that under the bonet

  • Probably the only car you buy because of how it sounds. Who needs a Radio?

Always fancied one. Probably too old now. Would struggle to get in it. Would forgive all the idiosyncracies just to marvel at that soundtrack every day.

Just have to stick with my Stag and take the Radio out.

  • Try RPi engineering. I'm sure that they can put this engine in a stag for very sensible money.

They're on the web. Give them a call.

  • This was mine for 12 months! M305 Bloody Loud Noise! It spat flames out the back on full chat between gears! Im having another one! mots aren't a problem when you know the right people.

  • chezzylee look at the reg plate you thick gay cunt

  • Is it true that tvr's always break down due to electrical problems?

  • No, although if they do break down electrical faults are often the reason.

  • erm... no owned 2 TVR's for 2 years each not a single problem

  • and how does the owner of the car get it through and MOT test, because its illeagal to have no silencer or not cat

  • it is quite simple actually. you have to go through the trouble of putting them back on then taking them off again once you finish the test. and if you dont know what your doing, you have to pay for some mechanic to do it each time.

  • yeah true, bit like slick tyres, there not illeagle on british roads, because of of the grip they provide, just a ball ache changing them all the time

  • lol @ slick tyres. who in their right mind would try to run them on the road? you need to get proper amounts of heat into them to get them to work properly, and that's not going to happen on the A48 now, is it?

If you want "slick" tyres for the road you are much better off going for some track-biased road-legal semi-slicks like the Yokohama A048s or Toyo 888s.

you'd gain no advantage by running slicks on a road car.

  • Oh, and slick tyres ARE illegal. minimum tread depth you have to have is 1.6mm... slicks have NO tread.

  • very true, how ever... you can have slick tyres but police look at it as dangerous is weather was to changes,

  • my point is, slicks are all but useless on the road, even if they were legal. As I said before, you would gain no benefit over something like the R888s I mentioned before - infact slicks would probably be worse.

  • slicks wouldnt be so slick in rain,,, dry... diffrent matter as you can appreciate

  • in the dry - on a track.

racetrack surfaces are a LOT smoother than just a normal road. you can go a lot faster on a track as well, which of course helps to build heat in the tyres. you will NOT be able to get the tyres up to an effective temperature on the road. Slicks are pointelss on the road, and probably bordering on dangerous

  • Fuck...

  • That sounds beast lol

At work im used to the silenced ones :-(

  • TVR's dont have silencers anyway.... just 2 cats..

  • 3cats. well i know the chimaera does. 1 main cat and 2 smaller ones on each exhaust

  • 3cats. well i know the chimaera does. 1 main cat and 2 smaller ones on each exhaust

  • yeah they have 2 pre-cats and one main cat. ive ripped the pre cats out of mine and had straight through pipes to remove the silencers! sounds ace!

  • yeah they do sound so gd. try taking to main cat off too, then put a vid up of it haha.

  • Sounds very nice :)

  • They should make an alarm clock that loops that sound :-) what a way to wake up in the morning!!!

  • Actally, there are many free programs out there that you can install and set an alarm on your computer AND here's the kicker - you can set your own sounds :) record that beast and put it on PC Alarm or something.

Sweet dreams, and an even sweeter morning. Ciao.

  • HAS to be done.I'm onto it. I have TVR 4.3 Big Valve with straight through exhaust. I will be posting my contribution shortly :-)

  • Good man, good man.

I've got 2 30W guitar amplifiers in my room, and I can hook them both up to the audio out on my laptop to make 60W of pure TVR grunt, if I ever need to get up in a hurry that is ;)

Look for "TVR Sagaris Start london", that sounds nice through my setup.

  • OMFG!!!!!!!!!

  • What silencers did you put on? Straight-through without mufflers?
