@kylewilliams1000 Not directly as it doesn't support computer control. The Elite has a computer interface built in to it, but the Select doesn't. If you can make another computer interface work with it (the Lenz LI-USB might) then that combination would probably work - but the cost of an LI-USB isn't far off the cost of an Elite, which definitely works and is IMHO a much better controller than the Select anyway.
Wow! Lovely idea! Looks great and perfect to work with your modelrailway and run some trains at the same time! Do you have a central stop to? And is it possible to give the switches commands with your voice?
@railion6513 Yes, when completed you will be able to control any aspect of the railway whether it's loco's, accessories (points, signals etc) or higher level things like routes (i.e. one command and fourteen points and two signals change, for example).
@rosiefan04 Not coming out for a while, but it's getting there now, i'm making great progress. The ernie models are not bad at all to be honest, for what they cost. Plus they are DCC ready which was a superb surprise as it's not advertised anywhere.
@samson374 voice Recognition is built in to Windows, I used some free .NET libraries (in fact also built in) and wrote my own code to actually hang it all together, but the hard work is free and built in to Windows.
This is exellent stuff,i can see this would be of real use to the elderly,or severely disabled rail fan. There are lots of people who will build a nodel railway for you,but you would still have to operate it in the conventional manner.A real boon for people with restricted movement.Get yourself down the patent office.
( though i want it NOW ) however if you are the first to come up with this speech control then you should pursue this idea ( concept ) further ( even go on dragons den ) i think money could be made from this and i commend you
If I get access to the systems I will add support, yes, definitely, it's written internally with exactly that in mind. Thus far however, no manufacturers are interested in helping (and my pockets are not that deep!). Contact your reseller and get them to talk to the manufacturer, i've got one guy trying to see what he can do with Digitrax at the moment but I haven't heard from him in a while now so i'm not holding my breath.
Sorry the news isn't better. Elite, LI-USB and LI101F are all in.
Thats awesome with the speech, can you tell me where you got your software from and how much it cost, i have the elite too and want to control my layout through my pc.
Strictly for control of loco's, probably negligible, though it is handy not having to remember loco numbers or cycle through favourites to get to the loco you want to control; just saying its name is far easier.
The real power of speech will come through when I can demonstrate route setting and other related things, I think that'll make it much more apparent. Still, Speech isn't going to be for everyone but it's another alternative that might hit the spot for some.
how does it cope with accents my phone does not understand Glasweigen

What program is that for the voice command and how do you programme it with the elite
istich123 11 months ago
@istich123 it's called RailDirector, it's not available yet. Once it's done, speech will be a doddle, no expertise needed at all.

does the layout HAVE to be dcc for it to work ?
kylewilliams1000 1 year ago
@kylewilliams1000 Yes it does require DCC. Currently NCE, Lenz LI-USB, Lenz LI-101F and Hornby Elite systems are supported.

@UKDccRail will the single digital select be supported at all

Good stuff! Much easier than having to enter the codes! Amazing! Are the bachmann ernie models good? In your opinion?
And also When will you release this as a download?
Personal message me please!

Great system I hope it becomes a practical system in the future. All you need now is a "Clapper" for the 37's lights

Would this work with the hornby dcc select???
davfun1 2 years ago 2
@davfun1 No, it won't work with the DCC Select as that unit does not have the required computer interface.

You said this was a concept at the min, is there any plans for it to support other systems, Like Digitrax or Bachmanns controllers?

I wrote it myself, it'll be out eventually as a free download. No idea when yet unfortunately.

It's very clever. However, I do wonder what genuine benefits there are to using a handheld throttle. An interesting concept.
