j'aime trop vangelis et la voix de jon c'est sublime je frissonne chaque fois! quand j'ecoute cette chanson, parmi toutes les autres !!!! thank you jon!! and vangelis too!!!
Lucifer was the Father´s most beloved angel at the kingdom of heaven. He fell from grace when ambition possesed his heart. This is a song that could be related with this sad story. The story of how heaven lost it´s most beautiful angel.
@Aldodecorcega Makes you wonder how any god could make an 'angelic' being so flawed - given that the creator could have chosen to make the angels and the universe perfect, without the need for all these 'moral, ethical and theological mind games'. Of course being omniscient, this treason was not a surprise, in fact according to doctrine it was pre-destined, a form of divine entrapment? Strikes me as very secular: jealousy, war, violence, death, treason, distinctly un-majestic or even god like
Prophet Isaiah says it in three times. 1- This angel wanted in secret to be more higher than God. 2- The rebellion and he was cast on the earth. Jesus says he was launched like a streak. 3- This angel caused Jesus death and was launched in a deep prison to be released in a thousand years. This thousand years is nowadays.
According Revelations, Jesus told John, the Anti-Christ was among men since that time. The thousand years means a lapse of time that is over. The last hour of the World Trade Center is described in Revelations 18. It is like a God's cauge telling us the time. There are few pages to end.
@PeterThenn You need to get out more, hang around some bars, meet some women, make a few friends, and one day you might just find a life. You shouldn't believe everything Paul of Patmos (AKA John the Seer) wrote (note the Roman Catholic church has accepted that St. John and John of Patmos are NOT the same person). Revelation has stronger connections with the OT than anything in the NT, in fact the Christ is totally absence! Satan, the serpent and Lucifer, are different individuals not one
@PeterThenn Actually you are assuming my presumption is erroneous, which is in itself a mistake ... I simply read what you typed ... and the only thing I assumed was that you have a mind of your own and weren't out to play pseudo-philosophical word and mind-games ... My words were quite clear and ambiguous, with no weasel wisdom or dancing round the issue I'm a dyed in the wool heretic. People can enjoy music, it is a powerful tool, & religion has a history of misusing both power and 'tools'.
@FoolOfGods , The only fools on this earth are bible bashers and idiots. I wish people would'nt keep bringing religion into music. It is pointless. ' Heaven & hell DO exist, but only here on earth. It's how human beings behave towards each other that determines the difference. I am proud to be an Atheist, I believe in reality and humankind, not in some unfounded rubbish that is causing most of today's problems ie. the desire for greed. Enjoy your music.
@gandalf200948 Right, here we go,Famine, Wars, Concentration Camps, Racism, Greed, Rich, Poor, need I go on much more? These things are FACTUAL, not some made up distorted story that serves only to keep people in line. We dont need all that bullshit in our life. There is enough as it is. Heaven& Hell (if they exist), are HERE on earth already. Open your eyes, look around. Nothing wrong with faith, but to any religion that has no factual basis, get real mate?
@gandalf200948 We know that Science has proved that no God created us, simply evolution. All the religious teachings of all Faiths contradict each other.People were much simpler thousands of years ago, easier to control them with scary ''Tales'' of what would happen to them if they did'nt toe the line. '' Heaven'' is a state of being, knowing you are making peoples lives good. ''Hell is the opposite. It's happening all the time. We control our destiny. It's what we do that matters, not a Faith.
Science hasn't proven that no god created us. However, it has shown beyond reasonable doubt that a god was not necessary, at least once you have assumed the existence of the universe and its laws.
@KaitainCPS Fair enough my friend, I dont know really how to answer your comment, but I still stick to my comments. I do accept the existence of the Universe and It's laws. Just wished people in general, would take a look around, and decide that mankind has had enough of the chaos we are causing. Wishful thinking I suppose, but maybe one day eh? Take Care.
@KaitainCPS I will contend that science deals with no more than the mechanism of creation, but fails to address who flipped the switch. Stories of Creation simply state that G-d turned the key and the engine cranked. They don't address how the ignition creates a spark that burns the gasoline that pushed the pistons that push the axles that roll the wheels. As a Deist I appreciate that G-d spoke and it happened, but am still curious about the mechanisms that cranked when He turned the key.
the album is called heaven & hell so i guess you make your'e own conclusions. i would say that ure probably quite close to the truth. hell demising maybe? who knows? all that is true is that the song is truly inspiring. LOL. Gman
Thank you for this. What a beautiful song. While Vangelis may not have fit into Yes (he did audition after Wakeman left), his path produced much gorgeous music, and his collaborations with Jon. I love how the vocal is doubled for the last verse; Simply genius. Peace and God bless :-)
I bought the Heaven and Hell LP when it first came out in 1976?? AT 19 years of age, I did not really like much of the Album-just the opening movement, this one, and the last movement. Over the years, as my tastes and appreciation for art increased, this album I know consider a masterpiece.
Can someone out there please post a video for the track "Love is" from the Short Stories album? I am a bit of a technophobe and wouldn't know how to I'm afraid. It's another great Jon and Vangelis masterpiece that simply needs to be out there. Here's hoping !!!
I love the opening track of that LP Short Stories- "sitting here in the television, looking at the tube next to me-He's not been very well lately-He's been crying a little and I ain't lying-so we're sitting it out watching match of the day-Curious Electric.. Curious Electric. Well we've all gotta go anyway-I said we've all gotta go anyway. And I wouldn't mind being last in line to see such joy and fruitfulness when everyone discovers.... Short Stories" This is from memory
I remember the first time I heard this on WNEW-FM radio in NY. The Nightbird, Allison Steele played it. I wrote a letter to her asking what album was this truly remarkable song from.
