@hermiesquishydance, no I dont think so, because even though the hamster is still smaller, hamsters in nature run around many kilometers in a night. There they cant do that...
@expertvillage quit dishing out good things about petland we know its a bad place to buy animals and a bad place for them to live. I can't believe my hamster from there is still alive

Don't get that cage. I had that and my hamster was like, always on his wheel, praying it'll let him actually move around there. I have a 15 gallon tank, now. their WAY better.
never get a regular hamster cage for a syrian, they are always to small, the best thing to get is a rat cage that have small spaces for bars, the sizes are perfect :3
the cage is too small .. the suggested bedding is not good for them as they can dry up the mouth and get stuck in there mouths .....suffocating them .... cedar chips are ok ... if there are kiln dried ... other than that i would strongly reccomend aspen as it has no smells for the hamster to inhale...natural bedding is good too... wood chips arent good but there not as bad as she makes it sound... lets remember these anilams live in the wild i think they know what there doing
GRRRRRR! i jst accidentally clicked on this video and now all of the options at the side are bout expertvillage! no offence 2 them but i really dont like them!!!
@georgeman21222 i disagree. i've had many different types of hamsters and dwarfs are by far the easiest. they stay small, hardly ever bite, don't chew at things, are quiet but energetic. i don't know. they're the friendliest i've ever had. i actually had one and 3 months later bought another one because i liked them so much.
"If your hamster tries to bite you, stick it's head underwater for a few seconds. We here at Petland believe that drowning your pet can train them to better your relationship. If the pet gets sick, completely drown them and buy more from us!"
people complaining abt the size of the dog's cage, tbh it is really sad but compared to those dogs and animals that are in china going thru all the cruelty (google china animal cruelty) this is much better..
i know hamsters are small...i've looked after syrian/golden hamsters for 7 years but that cage is too small. like most pets they like space to move/run/play...they can't do that in there. :|

I have the same cage as the one she showed in the video but my hamster keeps biting on the bars...i just got her about four days ago...is that normal?! i can't get her to stop biting the cage at all...what should i do?
2) or u can take her oput of her cage, he may be jut bored
3) or, you can keep her buy in her cage by rearanging the stuff, makeing different floor levels out of cardboard, and hiding fresh food in different hiding spots
it means that she'd bored, before the same happened to mine, them i added some toys and tunnels, and Waffles(my hamster) was constantly playing in his cage
yeah...i'll probably go and get her some of those...but she is more of an excercise freak...she LOVES to run in her annoying wheel...and she's weird...she ate some of her litter...LOL...i hope thats ok?!
That cage was too small for a syrian, this is stupid advice. If you want to know how to take proper care of a hamster check out specialist forums.
Don't take advice from a women who gives you advice whilst in the background a puppy slowly goes mental in a small plastic box. You should always expect to see a puppy with it's mother so you can gauge the well being and temprement of the dog. This puppy was probably factory farmed.
Always research a pet stores ethics before buying any pet.
that is so stupid and wrong, i have been using wood shavings or chips for all my hamsters and they are fine, besides the recycled newspaper stuff is expensive and comes in small amounts, its much better, and the ceder chips are recomended.
Pooor dog he looks so sad in that cage he can barely move. :( Pletland should get them bigger cages. Like I saw at Petco the cats had big cages with scrath posts, all 5 or 6 times the size of that dog's cage! And the cages where connected! And there where 3 cages, so around 25 times the size of that poor dog's cage! They also had like 3 cats. Those poor puppys.
@CheezSalad hi im joy thats just a look at cage so that ppl can see him/her during the day yes it should be bigger but when the petland is closed he/she is more than likely in a much bigger place
i got 2 russian dwarfs yesterday and theyre sooo cute theyre called mojo and bean. a really good cage is the rotastak adventure zone altough may have to be adapted for dwarfs

that puppy in the background is so cute! good vid new alot of it already but good vid and good loud and clear voice so overall good video good graphics and good loud and clear so good video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not all together sure what breeds my hamsters are, since the PetSmart where I got them only classified the casual hamsters as long-haired or short-haired, but my hamster, Pip is a light-tan colored long-haired with a loving attitude and only bit me once when we first got him. I assume that he is a Syrian. If I were you, I would ask the staff the try petting or holding one of the hamsters first to see if it's friendly before you buy it.
Never do that! Well you can. But give it a few days before even holding it at all then allow it to crawl onto your hand or sniff it. If you dont it can lead to a disease called wet tail which comes from stress and will kill your hamster.
That all depends on the hamster's attitude rather than breed, but I heard that one type of Russian amster was very aggresive as a breed, so staying with Syrian will be good. Just don't put two of them together.
Its probably an orhpan hamster from owners who didnt like their ham ham anymore :( shelters arent just for kitties and dogs u know dont forget about da hammiess!!!!!! :(
one of the crittertrail cages. They are very good, mostly made of plastic, and never leave your hamster bored. if available, get the crittertrail x, y, or z. my hamster Rico LOVES his crittertrail x. Good luck :)
ok if ur going to talk trash obout this lady and she is trying to help us dont even bother watching the videos if all your going to do is coment mean things
I use the asperger method, where i put my hamster in a box in the size of a dead infant, and then i put strawberry fields by beatles on - and let it play for days. then i switch music to deutschland über alles and force the hamster to watch minorities get tortured on my iPhone.
the results will be that the hamster actually starts speaking to you in german, and so u must poke it with a pen until it dosent move no more. use the asperger method
and it's realy good for hamster to have woodshifts at the bottom of their cage, it's got a nicer smell than paper and is better for burrowing and it dosnt cause any problems as long as it's specialy for rodents! I cant believe how bad this info is! I'v had 5 hammies and they all have lived between 4 and 6 years >:(
i have a 9 weeks old syrian hamster i got her 7 days ago she use to wake up at 7pm or 8pm but now she wakes up at 12! can sum1 plzzz tell me that how can i get her wake up at 7pm or 8pm again

A puppy!

That all depends on the hamster's attitude rather than breed, but I heard that one type of Russian amster was very aggresive as a breed, so staying with Syrian will be good. Just don't put two of them together.

cuttiehammie 2 years ago
one of the crittertrail cages. They are very good, mostly made of plastic, and never leave your hamster bored. if available, get the crittertrail x, y, or z. my hamster Rico LOVES his crittertrail x. Good luck :)

Is it normal for Hamsters to be very hyperactive and for them 2 bite their cage? Almost like they're trying to escape?!
spiderlegs1987 2 years ago
yeah its normal...just not all the time
my hamster used to do that
yoyoyo1418 2 years ago
if he/she does it excessively than he/she is overly stressed, try holding it more and giving it some fresh veggies
SquirrelMan1313 2 years ago
Yes, it's completely normal.

oh, i see you use an alternative method.

This is really bad information. That cage is not suitable for a hamster, it's animal abuse to put an animal in such a small cage!
VegAngel123 3 years ago 3
and it's realy good for hamster to have woodshifts at the bottom of their cage, it's got a nicer smell than paper and is better for burrowing and it dosnt cause any problems as long as it's specialy for rodents! I cant believe how bad this info is! I'v had 5 hammies and they all have lived between 4 and 6 years >:(
