it's best to become extremely proficient at longboarding first to get the flow down. surfing is nothing like other board sports, they help but the worst surfers i see have no style because they can't longboard good. they do choppy little turns and can't complete a nice roundhouse. so many dudes think they'll be busting airs on a sb when they haven't learned the fundamentals of surfing. no matter what you can do, a lame style = lame surfer or kook! get a longboard!
@xCarlosKidx soft top boards, costco 8 footers work really well. dont waste ur money on a more expensive board cus ur sure to hit some things with the board when u first start
@xCarlosKidx if you want to stay logging (hang 5, walk the board) then buy a 9 foot above board, but if u want to go into shortboarding get a board 2 inches taller then u and ur good to go. check craigslist for used boards, u can find some crazy deals
