I know how to change a bike tube, but I am having trouble replacing the actual tire tread and also finding a video that knows how to label the correct terminology so that when you search for "tire replacing" you don't get a bunch of videos telling you how to change a tube.
I'm a fairly new bike rider and I don't have a super fancy bike or anything but I do ride it every day to pick up my daughter from school. I had doubled back to pick up a dropped rainboot and was barreling back, full speed ahead, on a very busy road when I drove over a long Robertson drill bit and blew a back tire. After watching your video and learning how to change a tire, I"ve now equipped my bike with an emergency tire changing kit so next time I won't have to walk my bike home.
Cheers for the vid. I was getting frustrated getting the new tyre back on it just wouldn't go, then I saw how you did it by putting one edge of the tyre in then the other after, and magic, it worked! (I must be special?) Cheers
Not mentioned in this video are what to do if you have neither quick release wheels nor quick release caliper brakes. In this case you will need at least an adjustable wrench to loosen nuts and must completely deflate the tire to squeeze it past the brake caliper. VERY important to push tube valve back up into tire before inflating to insure tube isn't pinched under the tire bead. If it's pinched it can sneak out under pressure and explode the tube in your face. Not fun, trust me.
Hi I've a question. I've 26" wheel MTB (wheels are about 2.5" wide) , I'm thinking of changing wider tire to narrow tire like 1" tire for road use. I was curious if I just need to buy new set of tires and tubes or do I need to buy the entire wheel/rim? thanks
ok ive had this problem - basically the tire connects to the metal wheel rim via these rubber edges - difficult to explain but when you next look at your tire wheel (when it is off) you will see these rims. They hook under the metal rim. Sometimes though this does not happen evenly. The experts say that the kink will settle in due course but dont count on it - you will also get lots of punctures. I am gonna buy a new tire - bummer
I changed the inner-tube on my rear tire and after I put it back, the tire didn't seem to have inflated evenly. So when I ride the rear wheel feels as though it's going over a bump. Any help with that will be much appreciated. Thanx in advance.
@asherhalbrindley: I tried that, but there was no change. When I spin the wheel it looks like it wobbling. And the tire doesn't seem to expand out evenly when inflated.
@Gutsukyo it may very well be your airhose not in place in that particular spot. it usually happens at the valve. Before inflating it try pushing the valve away from the rim. All the way to the tire wall. if your tire is sitting too far in the rim. You can adjust that with your hands by grabbing it and slowly twisting it to the opposite side.
if you dont have a tire lever then you should be able to use any durable object with a hook at the end of it, maybe a peice of iron that your able to bend?
Thanks Jeff! 57 yr old female putting road tires I ordered online wanting to change out mt. bike tires for a first! Followed YOU and wow...how easy . Made me feel like a PRO! just a bit of trouble forcing that last bit of tread on...maybe tell others to ROLL it forcefully with palms if you don't have enough strength on some of these new tires. great video. Saved me cash I don't have! BRAVO :)
That was great! I had just bought new tires and tubes for my old 10 speed and would've probably mangled it if I hadn't watched your very helpful video. Thanks!
I liked this up until the point where he says, "You wanna put a little air into your tire..." then he BLOWS AIR into the tire WITH HIS MOUTH!!! GROSS!!!! Please! Come on, just pump a little air into the tire, man.
Do you only put your lips around food and sterilised things? Germs are good. Sticking your tongue in girls mouths (or boys, whatever your preference) is good. They're packed full of germs. Put stuff in your mouth man everything's covered in germs. Don't lick a dog shit though thats too far.
when we change the bicycle tyre , are we also changing the back 'gear teeth' as well , u noe the circular thing that is attached to the middle of the rim?
hi could you please post a video about changing brake cable on drop hndlebars ?
cheers

@raazstone Tire and tube will do. 1.5 inch tire is recommended.
