  • WOW! FINALLY! I have NEVER seen anyone or anything with the name Brenna! That is my name by the way! And This is the first time I have herd it,other than people referring to me obviously! But I find this so cool....finally! Thumbs up if you have herd the name "Brenna" before???

  • at 1:34 horse trys to kill grass and fails:(

  • I think when I break in my first horse I'm going to mount and lead on BOTH sides. There is no need to keep it to JUST one side, that's just tradition and has now become something where it's forbidden to mount from the right. What if you break your left leg, or fell off and are stuck on a trail and your only option is mounting from the right side? Mounting and leading from both sides gets them used to either so there's no surprises.

  • @Kitsunegirl1212 Its a situation where rules become more important than the actual ride or ability of horse and rider. You bring up some excellent points in your comment.

think about western riders its required the horse be mounted from both sides.

a little more open minded from the traditional group might benifit the horses and riders regardless of discipline.

  • TITANIC! :(

    Beautiful horses though!

My horse gets really annoyed when I mount him bareback from the ground. :)

  • This was really cute. =) That horse was like "Are you girls getting on or not?"

  • I've tried so hard to mount bareback but I could never get it! I'll have to try this way now :)

  • it looked easer for u becouse you look tall and that horse looks like it is a twin or something..... while the other girls at seemed to be a little short...

oh and at 1:22 that horse looked as if it was going to bit/buck her. s/he was not happy....

also is that horse pregnet??? couse s/he looked alittle big....lol

  • in my riding school we some times ride bareback and i coudent do it but thx to you i hope i will be able to do it thx a lot!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You actually are right on mounting on both sides! If you are in an area where there are trees tight in on the left side, or something else that makes it hard to mount from the left side, your horse won't be caught off guard if you have to mount on the right side. On of the popular horse trainers have suggested mounting on both sides! Keep posting videos, I enjoy this one!

  • it took me like 10 trys hahah

  • Comment removed

  • The last pic is SO cute!

  • Good job! I've never managed to do that lol

I agree with you.. wether you handle a horse from the left or the right side shouldn't matter! I mount and lead my horse from whatever side I want, I don't even think about it and neither does my horse xD

  • @sarahkyra Thank you!! lol. I feel like a loner out here cause everyone makes their horses so one sided! My horse and I dont care what side I get on or off, or walk, or do whatever. I just am breaking a new horse into saddle and the first day I was mounting from both sides- she didnt care! I think its just the people are more one sided. ;)

  • @KatyGirl93 Yeah! I don't even know where that 'do everything on the left side of your horse' came from lol. Besides how reliable can a horse be when he freaks out if you put a bridle on from the right side? xD

  • @KatyGirl93 i agree with you...and i hate it when people say its wrong to get on the right side...the only reason why people are so programmed to get on the left is because way back when they used horses for battle they had to get on the left side because they had their swords on that side and they didn't want to hit the horses with them when they mounted...well we dont ride with swords and either side is appropriate for getting on, its better for the horse too

  • @sarahkyra same with me and my horse

  • For one you are getting on the rong side of your horse

  • @appachelover3423 ...read the description

  • @KatyGirl93 sorry i was looking on my phone it dose not show the description

  • @appachelover3423 No problem. I just have a lot of people who say that. lol.

  • @KatyGirl93 sorry

  • @KatyGirl93 you are completely right far to much is done on the near side of a horse years ago a jockey friend of mine was asking , ever notice when you get dropped ( fall ) you nearly always come of the near side its becuase the horse ducks by nature from the near and you go out the near mostly , yours is the first video i saw that is doing it all round and your totally right XD

  • your mounting from the wrong side.

  • @slayerandhorsefan911 ....read the description.

  • @KatyGirl93 idc .

  • @slayerandhorsefan911 then why comment?

  • @KatyGirl93 because i felt like it. XD

  • @slayerandhorsefan911 ok...lol

  • Titanic!!!!!!!!! :d

  • I can jump (or scramble) on a 15hh cob its really hard though, I can only get on from the left because I'm used to it that way.

But I can get on a 13hh pony from both ways and sometimes when she is walking!!!!!!!!

  • That's how I do it. XD It is hard!

  • that was hilarious when she got on the pony

  • i'm going to try this :) i just need to teach my saddlebred/arab how to stand still when i'm trying to get on him bareback :P under any ind of saddle he is fine but once its not there look out because as soon as you go to get on bareback he'll back up :P haha should be fun though

  • i tried this. took me two days but now i can do it... i have to strggle a bit to actually pull myself on as my horse is 15.3 hh and i am only 153 cm :)

  • I have difficulty doing this on my little horses (one is 15hh the other 14.3hh, and i'm not short either, i'm 5ft 7 of somthin) while my friend gets on her 16hh TB like this no problem, and i'm just like O.O.....

  • haha i like the titanis music in the back;) i have never tried it this way.

  • Indian style! lol

  • I have tried so hard to do this. I'm 5'2" and have an 18 hand quarter horse :/ I'm having a little more luck with neck mounting but the real problem is that I can't get me feet high enough.

  • reallyy good!!! :D

  • Reminds me of how Legolas jumped on Gimlis horse in Lord of the Rings O_o

  • WELL you definitely put me to shame XD GREAT job!!!

my issue....I'm too small for my horse lmao

  • wow, cool

  • that depends if your one of your horses lets you do that, phaaha! he's so naughty!

  • ar 2:0 you got on that pony just like a bike! XD

  • i bet u dont now many 16 year old guys who can do that i can

  • You're gonna wreck your poor horses back...

  • @CourseJumper

really? everyone i know does that.....all our horses are fine......

Pardon me but i though i only weighed like 100x less then my horse.....but i guess thats just me....

  • @CourseJumper no she won't? the horse doesnt even look remptely bothered :)

  • That was hilarious the little pony! lol!!!

  • people say its easier to vault on tall horses is that true??

  • Wow i can't do that! lol that would be sooo bad if you kicked his flank doing it haha XD

  • Wow. I was riding bareback today and I didn't succeed. I ended up standing next to the trailer and using it as a leg up. I'm gonna try this again tomorrow. Good job guys.

  • Does that horse have colic?

    its kickn its belly

  • @Pebble132 In my neck of the woods we call those "flies" not colic....

  • I wish I could have a horse. Thankfully for the next 8 years I will be learning how to be a veterinarian and then I'll get my horse. I can't wait to try this once I get my own horse.

  • Thank you for mounting from both sides! There are so many stupid people with lopsided horses!

  • tht hats like a bicycle helmet whts up wiv tht ?

r u even supposed to ride a pony tht small

  • tht hats like a bicycle helmet whts up wiv tht ?

  • @Beckiiy100 What's the point of wearing a riding helmet if you have a bicycling helmet? They both have the same function and serve the same purpose!

  • @mshobohorse actually no they do not riding helmets are padded out more for riding becasue you fall from a higher position,, they also have more protection as they are harder than cycling helmets,, cycling helmets can be damaged easily and the cushioning is not as strong as riding helmets ,, xx

  • whats with the music?

  • You'll notice my video responce!! I could never "jump" high enough so I climbed on!!! LOL

  • I didn't even know there were people that considered it difficult or a talent to get on a horse from the ground. I've never used a mounting block in my life! The world isn't full of mounting blocks so you shouldn't depend on having one! That's just silly.

  • you are an idiot could you not see that one of the times your horse was kicking and swishing its tail the whole time?! wow you are totally clueless

  • @LuvMySorrel She isn't clueless. If you have been around horses at all, you would know the horse was "kicking" because of the flies, not her. The horse was staniding very well I thought.

  • @LuvMySorrel Wow, just wow. Did you not stop to consider it was kicking at flies? if the horse was uncomfortable with the girl then it would have been unmistakably obvious.

  • lol, now, on the pony, Bucky, I've gotten tall enough(I'm 5'9"ish xD) to where I can just throw my leg over his back and push myself up from the ground and pull from his hair on the other side xD

  • @ladymelmew same here lol!

  • Great video :) whenever I try this my horse looks at me and is like...wtf are you doing you freak? Haha beaufitul horse :D

  • @kfletchable haha i get that look evey time i ride my horse, at some time during the ride

  • The horse is beautiful! And I really liked the music in the background.

  • poor shetland you are wayyy too big for him

  • That pony at the end (Bubbles?) is SO adorable XD

  • Awww the shetland was so cute

  • is this the horse that got hit by a car?

  • I'm just afraid, that, with my bad balance, I would fall, but I'd end up pulling the horses hair x''D

  • great vid, but can u plz change the song? its sad ):

  • is the little pony called bubbles??? coz i have a horse that looks just like him and he is called bubbles how many hands is the little one??

  • It's a lot harder than you would think.. when you are standing by the horse and try to jump like that :P I haven't gotten it just yet.. keep colliding with the side of the horse.. then sliding off :P hahaha.. "the slow descent of shame.." :P

  • @happypumpkinsoop That's hilarious!

  • i just wasted like 3 minutes of my life...

  • @krazyhorsebackrider your real nice!!!!!!! dont be a jerk to her!!!!!!! this video is awesome!!!!!!!!!! so keep your mouth shut

  • @kristian0gallops hhhahah! it was funny tho. Great job (:

  • @DaisyT101 not everyone uses one.

    fyi.

  • I so want to try that, but I can guarantee I'd get that leg over, hit my horse's side and he'd be OFF ! hahahaha!

  • what is your horses name? it looks just like my horses dam!

  • i have been trying and it works x thankyou x

  • hahaha', Now what do you do if you've got a not so calm horse like mine?

  • I DID IT!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!

    :-)

  • i have to use a chair.

  • i don't do that i just go up (not grab onto the mane) and just leap and sit then go i ride bareback alot me and my friends pretend to indian relay so you get used to gettin' n and going i'm a native my self i'll have to try this today or tommorow i heve never did this before

  • ez for u 2 say u have a trained short horse i have a untrained 17hh horse!! that ones like 14hh! big difference i dont think she would run away but she might jump away!

  • your horse is really pretty but i would have fell off on the other side lol im gonna try this weekend and see lol

  • Get your poor horse some fly spray- she couldn't get on because he was swatting them with his legs and tail!

  • @ChocolateMooseHunter mabee they do have some but the spray doesn't get rid of 100% of them

  • My horse Cara would've thrown me off in two seconds. Or anyone that tried that xD

  • i dont think think would work for me our horses are almost 16 hands lol

  • i dont think think would work for me our horses are almost 16 hands lol

  • cool!

  • i wish i could do that, my horse puts his ears back and chucks his head up in the air hahah

  • that is cute very creative and funny di d they ever get it

  • Cool! I'll try it sometime when i ride. lol.

  • @ladymelmew I do that too! xD

  • @ladymelmew Haha- thats another way I mount! Usually on my shorter horses.. or when im really out of shape. lol.

  • @KatyGirl93 lol, the other way, i typically fall. but getting on the pony, i can do it the way in the vid =D

  • @ladymelmew haha. Pony's are great for ground mounting!!

  • @KatyGirl93 yes, lol. ponies are wonderful to mess with as well xD

  • @GirlsRidin One: Im not an idiot. You know nothing about me. I've been riding since I could walk and I know stuff you probably don't, just like you probably know things I don't. Two:You have no reason to tell me off. I was not speaking to you. There are SEVERAL different ways to mount (i.e. logs, stumps, fences, hills, etc...) Just because the Indians do something doesn't make it right for everyone. And my input may be a 'Complaint' to you, but really, I was just voicing my opinion to KatyGirl

  • @KatyGirl93 I have tried time and time again! my friends say i just dont have the momentum, but heck to that! i say its just cause i have stubby legs! (im not short btw im 5'5) but apart from that, would you have any tips on how to improve?? THANX!! :)

  • @goodyhorseshoes haha. I'm only 5' 2".. so I know the short part. ;) And, really its a matter of just putting all of your momentum and thought into it and then the follow through. Trust that you arent gonna get hurt- thats a big thing. When I started ground mounting I was REALLY nervous about it. But now I just dont even think about it and just jump on. Hope this helps a little.. if I think of anything else I'll let you know! :)

  • @2309Lisa Same way- But it takes some time to build up too. lol. I use the jumping on the neck technique for taller horses. Its a little easier.

  • i bet that horse isnt 17hh

  • @WrongCrazyBliss No, she's only 15.2 - but, i've used this technique on a TB who was close to 17h & i've ground mounted Clydesdale's using it too..

  • Dude, I did this on an 18.2 hand horse. I am only 5 foot tall. You think that was hard? Well, getting on Majic was EASY!

  • @horsepower060 lol. Ya. it takes time to get use to mounting taller horses.. ive used the ground jumping on a Clydesdale before.. and it was easy for me. But, that was when I was a little more in shape for it too. lol.

  • @KatyGirl93 hahahaha. tall horse r nevr easy to mount

  • Well me horse is 16.2 and he's only 5 so I don't think he would tolerate that...maybe in 5 years though heehee

  • @horsiegirl97 hahaha. Ya.. it's definitely something that takes a tolerant horse!

  • I really want to do that but idk if ill make it on the horse

  • @gabbiedoglover11 lol. Maybe not initially. But, in time im sure you'll be able to. :)

  • @KatyGirl93 Ok thx

  • lol love the pony. I have only watched this a million times! My mare is too tall so I usually climb up a gate and jump over on her. Any advice for taller horses?

  • what if your horse dosnt have a mane? XD

  • is that your mini? adorable :) your horse is too :)

  • Lol that's cute my horse shadow is way shorter even tho he is a quarter horse so I will try

  • god I wish I could do that. I tried doing it on my 13.2hh horse and I ended up like a fridge magnet stuck on the side of a fridge.

  • I've always wanted to learn that! But too scared, don't want to hurt the horse!! Will it not hurt them?

  • @wolfheart86 No, Don't worry about hurting them. :) It would take a REALLY hard kick up to hurt them. But, that would be almost impossible. :) So, don't worry. Im sure you'll do great!

  • @KatyGirl93 It is quite easy to hurt a horse with a not so hard kick. Im not trying to sound mean or anything, but you should definitely worry about hurting the horse. You could easily kick them in the stomach or the hip and it would hurt plenty. In all honesty, this is a very unsafe way to mount bareback, for both the horse and the rider. I ride bareback all the time, and I can assure you, this is NOT a good way to mount.

  • @Epiphify Hi. Sorry I didnt mean to sound like I wasnt saying horses can't get hurt & you shouldnt worry about hurting them. But, what im saying is- horses do have a high tollerence for pain. When you have to kick them to go it pushes them on, it doesnt hurt them (unless you are being cruel and mis using spurs or other forms of disipline). There isnt anything wrong with ground mounting. It teaches horses many different things... But, I do appreciate your input! Thanks. :)

  • @KatyGirl93 Not all horses have a a high tolerance pain, but you're right. Most of them do. And kicking them has also been proven to almost always leave serious injuries in the long run. Though, I can't talk...sometimes I have no choice but to give them a kick cause they don't always listen to voice commands, though I never use spurs. And I do ground mount when I dont have a choice, I just hop onto my belly instead. And Im all for giving horses all types of experience :)

  • @KatyGirl93 On a happier note.....I really wish I was that flexible :D

  • @wolfheart86 Horses also have a high tolerance level to pain

  • @dg506 Mhm. I'd agree with this theory as well... when a horse is more well rounded they know how to trust you when you throw different things at them- like a new inexperienced rider. They dont freak out because its something new, they just trust you.

  • This helped immensly! thank you!

  • @marcieincooke You're very welcome! So glad it helped!

  • your getting on from the wrong side haha

  • That little one looks mighty hard to mount! haha

  • @LifeLovinCowgirl Hahahha! oh yes! SHE's the REAL challenge!

  • This video totally taught me how mount bareback. I thank you so much :)

  • @MollyP09 You're welcome! I'm so glad I could help! :)

  • alittle X]

  • Hahahahah Nice video!! :) I really liked the end!! Whats the music called? Cuz i liked it too!! Haah

  • @BarrelRacer955 haha! thank you! The music is My Heart Will Go On.. its from the titanic soundtrack, but its just the instramental, without the words.

  • @KatyGirl93 Yeah, thanks :)

  • it must be really cool to have your own horse....

  • @kristian0gallops It is... amazing. I don't know what I would do without my girls. :)

  • kool! ill try...im 4'2 and my main horse is a 16hh bad mounting horse...it will be intersting, ill get on vid :P

  • @addictedtohorzez That would be awsome! I will make sure to check your channel and see if you have the video up yet. If you want you can even post it as a responce video to this one!

  • @KatyGirl93 Ok!!!! I dont have it yet, but i will put it as a vid response lol ;)

  • @addictedtohorzez awsome!! cant wait! :)

  • one tip: you should get on the other side, you know the left yeah the left thats it!!!!! but lol i have to get on that side everyonce in awhile too!!

  • @Moracco1010 There are no rules that say you must mount a horse on the left side. I mount my horse both sides and there has been nothing to suggest it hurts her. Mounting from the left, dates back to the Medieval Times; where the knights mounted the left side because the swords would get in the way if they mounted from the right. Its just some tradition thats been passed on thats all.

  • @brahmancheerleader1 Thanks.. I appreciate your back ground on the mounting. I've heard that theory before. And, tradition is tradition.. so that is also why I believe people mount on the left today- out of habit.

  • or do u hold on rope thing?

  • hey do u garb its hair and get on?

  • @CHAHAL95 Yes, I grab directly onto their mane.... if you have a lead line, or reins usually I hold onto those as well, if i want control once im on my horse.. but if you dont hold onto the mane you'll end up pulling a lot on the rope, and that pulls on their mouth.

  • @CHAHAL95 Both.

  • Haha, that's hilarious with the mini at the end. TOO funny :) good job though, I will be sure to try this step-by-step your way! Thnx

  • @ILoveMyHorseComet You're welcome! :)

  • Wow! Hopefully Ill be able to get on Mickey, the little evil pony school horse lol! I know my horse won't let me lol.

  • @TumbleweedDG hahaha. Those ponies can sometimes be the hardest.. because even though they are little.. they do have little devilish attitudes sometimes. ;)

  • i think its good to mount from the right.way to destress your horse

  • @thedandomaster Exactly. It doesnt leave all the stain of mounting of just the one side of a horse. And, it makes for a more well rounded horse.

  • I can vault on the right sometimes Its harder than the left tho. I agree you should mount and do things on both sides of your horse! great video!

  • @countrycowgirlable Thank you! :)

  • great thanks ;) but you need to get fly repelant for that horse ;) X

  • Whops Typo..."I always Do Mount" I Meant *I Always Mount*

  • Awesome!!!! I always do Mount Bareback with a *Mounting Block*....but I have been wanting to try to Mount Without it!!! THNX!!

  • @Jerseyandchico You're welcome! I hope it goes/went well! :)
