Just two comments about your video's of San Francisco. Very well done, and the other. can you just imagine the nightmare the painting staff has to maintain all the different paint scheme from the different trolleys from around the country.
I love the PCC. 101 from Washington finished their days in the city of Barcelona - Spain when the SF's network closed in 1962. Today only five or six still alive in poor conditions. What a shame!.
Great vids! A question for you: Did they ever finish regauging the PCC from Pittsburgh (PAT #4007, I think)? Last I heard, we sent it to you guys in San Fran so you could use it, but the axles were six inches too wide. I kind of wish that they wouldn't repaint it from the black and gold scheme, though (I actually rode on them when I was seven, on the Drake line before it was discontinued). If you see the Pittsburgh one, definitely take some videos. And do ride them - they are a treasure! :)
The olive green and the blue and yellow PCCs are MUNI's own PCCs repainted with their '40s and '60s era livery for the F. They used to run those on the other streetcars routes before the Metro Tunnel and the LRVs were in rolling force in the late '70s.
as a kid I would visit my aunt in the Hague, they had a 12 mile straight ride among others ( Laan v. Meerdervoort ) and how I would love it when the driver would gun the motors and accelerate away with spinning wheels. Also the PCC´s must be about the best sprung streetcars I ever rode. Great engineering, great design !!
In SF on Market St , I never see any passengers on board them but still they are a great decoration
Among the many reasons that I like them, is the fact that they are not covered with advertisements. They are meant to be looked at as an object of beauty as well as being a means of public transportation and as a representation of the city. I wish more public transporation systems were like that.

What's with the alarm bells? Sounds like a fire alarm. When those PCC cars ran in Philly, they had gongs on them. The alarm bells sound awful.

Great video. The alarm bells on the PCCs, that something new, isn't it? In the 80s, each chime had to be rung separately.
