  • Splitters!!

  • 2:30 "I love that movie!!!"

  • I love weird turban guy at 2:30 lol

  • Greatly missed. A light has gone out and his like will not be seen again.

  • @paddyfin hitchens is,to quote the great Morrissey, the light that never goes out..he left a great gift to us in his duration here...wrote enough, spoke enough...we have a bottomless pit of Hitchens to read through....his life extends beyond his death, bc his life is his ideas...Hitchens has become immortal and then died

  • The interviewer asked Hitch about "comfort" that comes with belief in the supernatural...which is actually not just genuine comfort, but comfort mixed with fear of an absolute dictator.

  • Thanks for uploading this.

  • "The beauty of science hugely outranks the charms of superstition."

Wish I could say so much with so few words.

  • What's he drinking?

  • @dizzythegreat Everything.

  • this is the most fun hitch interview to watch :)

  • I love Hitch's take on the 'Life of Brian' at 2:22.

  • RIP

  • RIP Hitch. If the Afterlife exists I'm sure Heaven has a spot for you, but I trust you'd refuse out of politeness. You probably wouldn't like it anyway.

  • RIP Hitch you will be missed!!!

  • I love how casual this conversation is.

  • Great men tend to have great weaknesses. Hitchen's couldn't keep the cigarette far from his mouth.

  • 2:30 - I FOUND JESUS!! HE'S IN THE FUCKING WINDOW!!

  • Hitchens is so cool! :-) I don't agree with him on everything though... Then again, who does? He expresses his views purposely so that he can get one of his beloved wrangles out of virtually anybody!

  • 0:25 "We massacred them, by the way, but that's not the point; we left them for dead."

  • 2:22-2:35 LOL!!

  • if this guy is so smart, why does he smoke and drink?

    drunken smelly idiot

  • @cirosuperiore i dont see the connection :S

smart - smoke and drink the two can work by them selfs theres no connection whatsoever

  • @cirosuperiore What are you...13 years old...?

  • @cirosuperiore - because he has to deal with the "stupids"---and THEY are thee MOST sure, 'referencing Hitch', "something they can not possibly know" -science/reasoning are discouraged. Sounds like a nothing word, but "stupid" to me- is the worst you can say of a person. (I) don't mean to sound hostile) Ignorant- simply means not knowing, but willing to learn- "dumb" means, example: a person is smart enough to use a toaster, but puts and in, gets burns. You know better but had a braincramp.

  • @cirosuperiore I suppose Einstein and Bertrand Russell are idiots because they, too, enjoyed tobacco? I smell an agenda ;)

  • @DecmanReturns well the agenda is that he is also an anti Christian boob who knows nothing about faith and transcendent

he should stick to his mediocre journalistic pablum

  • isn't the camera work grim? The man is interesting enough without some half wit trying to make a pop show out of it.

  • haha beginning was awesome. "Massacred them, left them for dead!"

on the question of a rational world. we actually live in one. no matter how rational and intelligent people are, shit will still be fucked up. greed, lust and power will still dominate evil!

  • @8:27 FUCK THAT CENSORSHIP! WHAT THE FUCK?

  • I wasn't going to buy Hitch 22. But now I am.

  • anyone know if theres footage on youtube/anywhere of the debate he speaks of in the beginning, with dawkins & grayling?

  • @ilytopy That would be: watch?v=Jmn-RFiKpRk

  • @TomFynn thanks.

  • Jesus seems to make an appearance in the window at 2:30. Watching on with smiling eyes.

  • That's one Bad-Ass literary MuthaF**kka

  • So funny when a Brit says "douchebag".

  • Great clips of the legend that is Hitchens..............but why the censorship of 'shit' and 'fuck'?

  • ahhhhh.... i smile deep down inside when he says "...we left them for dead"

  • He's right. We're being attacked by theocratic fascistic fanatical movement. It's called Tea Party. Much closer to home than the Taliban. More heavily armed, too.

  • Man, what I wouldn't give for a brief amount of time to discuss the future of religion and secularism with Hitchens.

  • horrible interview. thank god hitch can speak for hours on end about religion and politics

  • Hitch should be a role model for young people everywhere.

  • Charles Manson trying to get some camera time at 2:30

  • @coercingcoexistence good eye

  • @coercingcoexistence Fukin lol

  • I seriously love this guy.

  • What a man of insight.

Hitchens is such a brilliant thinker.

Don't die yet! You need to stay along for awhile.

  • I will shed a tear or two when he dies. That is for sure. God, I just hope he pulls through.

  • Youtube it and see.

  • He is just so rock'n'roll. I love this man.

  • 3:37 either Hitchens doesn't realise that the Zionist crowd took power over many decades or he's lying.

  • @BouncePounce evidence?

  • @xomiakas AIPAC perhaps?

  • @BouncePounce Not a threat, in my opinion. Tell me otherwise.

  • @xomiakas Trying to Push the US into war with Iran.

  • @BouncePounce "trying" is not enough.

  • At 02:28 a man appears in the window behind Christopher's head and gives a look of distain. This is made all the more hilarious when you consider how very much like Jesus perhaps could of looked at the time in history.

As an aside, what a marvelous mind Christopher Hitchens posesses and it will be a great shame when he departs this life. The world will almost certainly be less interesting as a result.

  • @CallanPage LMAO that was creepy now that i saw that.

  • I'd give up my home, every dime I've ever earned and all my pets to sit down for a half hour with Mr Hitchens.

  • got to be some of the worse camera work ive seen.

  • 2:30 look behind Christopher! It's JESUS! Fucking stalker...

  • What brand d'you think Hitchens smokes?

  • Comment removed

  • Hitchens is such a hero of mine! Whether he's discussing religion or politics, I hang on every word.

  • he makes me want a cigarette

  • has hitchens ever debated rc sproul? i tried to find it on youtube and found nothing. i would think these two giants would WANT to have a debate...........are they afraid of each other?

  • Guy in the window was a little creepy at about 2:30

  • LEGENDARY!!!!!!

  • Hitch, you better get well Buddy. The world is so much more interesting with you in it.

  • @bigboy45454545 well missed,

  • @azman5998 Well missed indeed. He went so soon after his diagnosis. Another year out of him would have been nice.

  • 3:34

The great thing about the United States is that no one group is strong enough to dominate it.

  • @BRussellspouts I disagree. I think the worst interviewers think the audience cares what they have to say or how they present themselves. The best interviewers get or allow the person being interviewed to talk freely. And I don't think Hitch is anything short of badass here

  • 257 people deserve to get shot in the face

  • Hitch is Great. However this Toba guy is one of the most feeble and complaisant interviewers I have seen. Hitchens is someone who thrives on argument. If I had the privilege of siiting down for a conversation with Christopher, I would play devil's advocate, ask him to clarify some of his broader rhetorical sideswipes, dispute his assertions, and generally have a bit more sport with him. Perhaps Toba was handicapped by his admiration for the man. (I'm a pompous youtube critic with no life btw!)

  • World class hitch.Such quality,christopher hitchens

  • i love Hitchen's little smile at 3:55

  • papersplease You ignored the context of the words ignorant and stupid, therefore, revealing both. The self righteousness of the Hitchen's phalanx imitates their commander.

  • Best of health but he is a complete fraud. He has made millions defrauding the world by misrepresenting religion (at least Catholicism) he does so in this interview again by either purposefully distorting the underpinings of faith or by just being ignorant of them. It's hard to believe he's that ignorant or worse that he is stupid. Like a fiddle he plays those with no faith who wish to be justified. Can you imagine going to a family picnic and having Uncle Chris show up ...yeeks!

  • @Marxisto1 I dunno about the rest of you. But when the religious start throwing around the words "ignorant" and "stupid", red flags start popping up all over my irony meter.

  • @papersplease lmao..its almost mind boggling..i was debating someone until he said that the bible made way more sense than science and i used the born in mid east argument and being muslim he said ya he would be muslim and he'd be wrong and burn in a lake of fire...After those 2 comments i said you win I'm out i can't argue with someone like you...lol

  • @screat you should have told him we at least have proof that Mohammed actually did exist. His book is full of crap but the guy its based on did exist unlike jesus...

  • Keep fighting Hitch. Damned cancer.

  • Jesus is listening at 2:30

  • "we massacred them. we let them for dead"

    epic

  • Get better soon Hitch!

  • I love this man. I am so sad he has cancer.

  • well. FUCK that

  • The interviewer is a douchebag...

  • hahaha mother theresa's a douchebag!!!

  • Hitch on fine form as usual

  • LOL at 2:30 someone peeks at him through the window.

  • wow! it's not everyday Mother Teresa is called a "douchebag" lol!

  • Interesting that so many people seem to dislike this video. It's definitely one of Hitchens' less controversial recorded conversations. And perhaps one of his more interestng.

  • Hitchens rules. Check out the creeper in the window at 2:30.

  • @mrw21 Stellar observation. Exactly what I expect in an intelligent video observation. Bravo. May you stop breathing the same air as Hitchens.

  • What is the point of your comment? It appears you're sarcastically implying that I'm stupid. If so, upon what are you basing this conclusion? That I didn't make an astute comment regarding the content of Hitchens' remarks? It's awfully dismissive and presumptuous of you to deduce anything about me -- particularly my intelligence -- based on a comment on a YouTube video. If you're going to bother to insult somebody, make sure you've got some ammo. You're shooting blanks, Ieoca.

  • @mrw21 Now you proved you're that creeper in the video.

  • How so?

  • Hitchens Is My Hero.

  • Get a fucking clue about Mother Theresa before you regurgitate that shit. If using money, stolen from poor people, to build convents and nunneries is humanitarian work, I'll eat my hat. Giving poor people a place to die and nothing more when you have millions in the Vatican bank is not even a semblance of charity. The old bitch was obsessed with suffering and propagated it throughout the world.

Ignorant fool. Yes, indeed "Mother" condoms are the greatest threat to world piece - Fucking idiot.

  • If you want to sound credible, you should stay level-headed. You sound like a child throwing a tantrum.

  • lol, if you want to sound credible you should stop speaking shit about things you obviously have no idea of.

  • Comment removed

  • you should check out some of the information that goes against the "humanitarian" label. Hitchens isn't the only one to publish such things, and they have some pretty compelling proofs/arguments.

  • That Mother Teresa line at the beginning was sweet. I literally lol.

  • I have to agree the camera man created a sense of distraction for me. I had a hard time focusing on the interview with all those awkward movements in the screen.

  • Who employed that camera man?

  • Seriously not doing CH ANY favors - making him look like Jabba the Hut!

  • "we left them for dead" ahaah so awesome.

  • Christopher hitchens is such an icon for atheists everywhere, and one of my favorite authors by far. He's way better than Jesus, or any other religion could ever be so it creates a paradox for people to want to worship him, yet it would be oxymoronic to do so. Interesting, studies show there is part of the human brain that wants to worship something whether it be earthly or supernatural and make believe.

I am a life long anti-theist and i believe we need a revolution of secular arts nd culture

  • I love him! If there is a hero that I have it is either him or Dawkins

  • Good Morals were established long b4 religion or the bible. Man created that, just like the bible & religion. They took good morals we already had & put them in our religion & bible, etc. we dont need religion. God isnt here 4 an explanation of things, thats 4 science. God is here 4 LOVE. Jesus may have lived, may just a story. Its the MESSAGE thats the most imp. Always put out Love-positive energy. I hate religion btw. Beliefs should always be changing, evolve!

    go here:

    truthknowledge. com

  • Man did not create morals. Morality is a part of evolution by natural selection, and we are all ingrained in our lifestyle and existence. Everything else you said is right on! :D

  • cool motherfucker with ego to spare.

yet again though, find myself agreeing with everything chris says.

interviewer is shit btw, and not much to be said for the cameraman, hold the camera still and stop trying to be creative just film the interview.

  • This guy's a fucking hero! You may not like all he says, but he says whatever he likes and accepts the consequences. A literary rockstar.

  • The camera guy is retarded... quick, zoom into the cigarette!

  • 2:31 the guy in the window is JESUS BAAALF ASLFK ALSFALF KALFKA LFKSA FLS

  • The super character Mr. Hitchens!!!

  • Hitchens is the man!

  • cool motherfucker

  • Did Hitchens actually just say "douchebag"? This man is even more of a fucking legend than I thought.

  • @QwidgyboMan He called Mother Theresa a douchebag... genius invective...

  • @QwidgyboMan so if i say "douchebag, cunt, slut ,asshole, dweeb, dick, bitch.....etc" then i'll be as cool as hitchens???????

okay then fuck you all you fuckin' douchbags!!!!!!!!!!

  • @withfootnotes Haha! To get into the spirit (purely metaphorical!) of things: Footnotes you're a cunting douchbag! XX

  • @QwidgyboMan well said!

  • Hitchens just speaks his mind. He's an honest guy. People want him to soften up and be a pussy but I say keep speaking your mind good sir. It's all too rare these days to come across someone who isn't afraid to say exactly what he thinks. It's very refreshing. If you want someone to point out how rediculous your religious beliefs are in a more kind and compassionate manner instead of a brutally honest and truthful manner there are plenty of other people you can go to.

  • One thing I've learned from Hitchens just from watching all the videos, is the value of skepticism and independent thinking. So I feel free to criticize him or challenge hi every word. It's not about exchanging one shepherd for another, for there's no way I'll be called a sheep again!

  • Seems like a rash criticism.

    "Lacks compassion"

Maybe he should be more compassionate to the Pope, Kim Jong il and the religious huckster who blame natural disasters on gay marriage.

" The smug, self-absorbed scowl, the hackneyed script and his frequent outtbursts of feigned indignance reveal a petulance usually reserved for rebellious adolescents."

Basically, you are suggesting that his truthful and outright rebellion towards religious hucksters and totalitarian run states is childish.

  • I too, find the antics and preachments of the snakeoil peddlers objectionable, but it is Hitchens' method of delivery Gwiss, that I find rather patronising. I think he rather enjoys the cut and thrust of the debate, as I most times do, but there are moments when I wince, when he becomes insufferably rude and boorish, and jokes about good manners being "overrated". Well, I don't think they ever are, and he would better serve his cause if he kept that in mind.

  • Hitchens has no respect for religious cheats like Falwell, Pat Robertson, and Mother Teresa. When he talks about those people he is straightforward and blunt. Don't confuse bluntness with rudeness.

  • Yeah, people don't hesistate to call hitler all kinds of names. Just because the people you listed didn't kill people, doesn't mean we can't call them names that describe them very well.

  • Lol. You threw a tantrum too.

  • "We massacred them" HAHA

  • They did.

  • I have no doubt they did.

  • it was brutal, a sight to see. fantastic.

  • They indeed did. It was the most incoherent group of theists CH has ever been set against. That short event (billed as a debate but upon watching it "debate" seems laughable because of the form it took) revealed how thin the knowledge and perspective of many theists is. It was as if CH walked into a room with a machine gun of logic, and sprayed it about massacring the theists while leaving them to bleed to death. It was as if none of them had even had to defend their utterings before.

  • Cool response.

Where do I find the video?

  • Right here on YT. I don't recall the exact title of it but it was CH, RD, and I think Stephen Fry against a Rabbi, an Imam, and a priest. RD really got into it with a Muslim in the audience about killing "infidels".

  • Thanks.

    I'll do some mining....

  • hitch is the man

creeper in the background at 2:30

  • movie is Monty pythons - Life of brian

  • Hitch rocks.

  • anyone cought the name of the movie he mentions in the begining?

  • I'm pretty sure I found that debate to which he refers:

    Hitchen,Dawkins,GraylingVs.Spivey,Neuburger,Scruton on you tube

  • Thanks!

  • Can PlumTV not afford a tripod? This is making me dizzy!

  • Dont mute his swearing! It is somehow very poetic when Hitchens curses and puts people in their place

  • @wowowowye3 Totally agree. Hitchens has such a fantastic vocabulary and when he swears he chooses his words because they are the perfect words for what he wants to say.

  • Yes I know what the word 'trance' means and I am familiar with the concept of talking in tongues. Your first message was so fragmented I couldn't discern your meaning. The majority of your ensuing diatribe amounts to nothing more than verbose name-calling: childish. And this was all triggered by you're disagreeing with the way I use the word "democracy"? Next time take a deep breath before insulting people, you'll lose alot of allies this way.

  • Solon's work LED to Democracy in ancient Greece it didn't arise in his lifetime.

  • To meet Hitch: Try the public bath-house

    or a Texaco's men's room.

  • Is the debate he mentioned in the beginning available anywhere? =)

  • Smoking is bad for your health!

  • Hitchens = badass

  • 0:25. Exhales cigarette. 'We massacred them by the way'. What a fuckin badass. And the way the interviewer responds is perfect.

  • haha

  • we masscred them, but that's not the point, we left them for dead. Hitchens FTW. lol

  • Proof that noone can resist a Python quotefest.

  • hitchens leave the ciggies alone your to cool for that : )

  • lmao. I agree with that.

  • yeah he grew up when the smoking was way cooler and powerfull. plus europe smoking is even more powerfull lobbyers and socialy aceptable

  • here in england its banned in most public places, im not sure about the rest of europe / i was only messing about by the way.

  • wow, i remember being in berlin and being able to smoke in their feature french shopping mall thats all airconditioned and that. i thought that was europe, i guess not england. australia, they have a facist view on smoking.

  • Skinner's right about morals & freedom. Wrong only on philosophy. Man is not a "caged ape," but rather able to condition more fully by thought then by action in environment. Still thought is controlled by external stimulus, but thought conditions more. Hence your free will is merely a sharpened discriminative control.

Ray, B. (1969) Selective attention: the effects of combining stimuli which control incompatible behavior. J. of the Exp. Analysis of Beh., 12, 539-550.

    Now is it interesting?

  • You do realize free will itself is not proven? Many (myself included) think determinism is more likely. My view is that everything we think and do is controlled by the interplay of our bodies and the environment. It all comes down to matter, that in your body, your genes, etc. and that which is around you. It feels like we have free will, and for practical purposes we essentially have to pretend we do have it, but in reality we might not.

  • Free will, freedom, morality, and ethics is an illusion is what I am saying.

Still God will judge you for your sharpened discriminative control.
