I think JYP base candidates on how good they dance, sing, and I suppose, future success as an idol/stage presence in the future? And I think they have to consider how well a candidate fits the 'JYP ent. image'. It is obvious IU has a lot of talent with singing, but, and correct me if I'm wrong, as far as my opinion goes, she's not a dancer, so that could be one of the many possible factors why she didn't get accepted.

I'm going to guess it's something to do with looks. Not to say IU isn't pretty (because she is), but, if you look at the rest of JYP's talent roster (Wondergirls, Miss A, Joo, etc.), she doesn't fit with the JYP image. All those artists have that kind of sharp, aggressive look, while IU, even though she looks sharp to a degree, has more of a smooth, gentle look.

@Angelstarr24 no this is 2007, July exactly. So, IU was 14 in here. The 1st JYP audition. IU failed at the 1st round. Goo Hara (Kara) passed to 2nd round, but failed too. Doojoon (Beast) got the 3rd place from this audition and join to JYP but move to Cube Ent. Only Wooyoung who passed, got 1st place in this audition and still in JYP now and one of the member of the hottest group in K-pop now, 2PM. :)
