CHEAP labor is by far the major factor. waaay bigger than anything else. Besides, rather than domestic markets, geography is another begger factor in terms of, once again, expporting. Again this depends on your luck when purchasing Chinese goods, if ur lucky, then u get a good one which will sometimes be more durable than japan stuff, if ur not lucky then u get crap stuff. It's true that they steal tech from big brands, but I mean, isn't that what every developing countries are doing from time to time? At the time when Japan is still a developing country, they copy brand names and tech from the US lyk, Bridgestone is from Firestone, and Sony produced radio which are copies of US made ones. Japan eventually stopped and created their own tech based on gathered tech from developed countries. China will eventually stop and create their own tech lyk japan.

Chinese companies only take the base design of a successful product, but then modified it into a different product, which means they don't steal. Japan and Korea had protectionist policies because they wanted MITI and Chaebols to dominate the domestic markets before evolving into internationally competitive business conglomerates by doing what China is doing right now, acquiring foreign technology, exporting, etc...
Only difference is that China, there is foreign investment, whereas there was no such thing during Japan and Korea's time period because of protectionism.

Chinese products are usually about 80% of the global cutting edge quality at 50% of the price.
Chinese products aren't that shitty, they have improved over time, especially since 2000, when I remember China was famous for making Mcdonalds toys, but now she is making PC laptops, IPads, and pretty reliable LCD TVs etc..

有时我在想，中国喜欢在坦克上装红旗，会不会更容易被发现并摧毁。但是我想到当年我们的对手日本喜欢让军官跑到最前面，我就觉得中国人喜欢用红旗还不够。看来日本永远是最大的对手啊。

Just remember folks, the United States, it's European and Aussie allies, use better materials in making weapons, the chinese use shitty sardine can metals that rust easy, I had a Chinese SKS and it rusts to dust, I got a Russian SKS, better quality than the POS Chinese copy, btw, would you buy an HK, Smith & Wesson, colt, Glock guns, etc, that was replicated from China? I didn't think so! Chinese products pollut the earth!!! and thank you Walmart shoppers for supporting china economy!

keep telling yourself that if that makes u sleep better at night... but in reality, china not only make Walmart stuff.. but your iphone, ipod, computer, TV, DVD... most of the basic electronic components are all made in China (China has 90% of the minerals for electonronics in the world)... so how are you going to make F-22 if all your transistor components are made in China??
