I started watching The Weather Channel when I was almost eight. A storm was on that night, so I went and turned on TCI cable and watched. I was instantly hooked from then on.
I remember a couple classic tracks from the Local Forecast segments, and the very end of this clip features one of them. Does anyone know what this is called?
i believe these bumpers and promos debuted later in 1991, as i remember during the '91 ice storm in march "you needs us the weather channel." phrase and associated music scores were still in use...
This brings back so many memories... I remember when I was a kid and I used to watch the Weather Channel non stop. I love the music, and the graphics and everything... I wish the Weather Channel would revert to these glory days.
@SabbathMan8815 I was born in 1995 when I realised whats the meaning of GOOD TIMES the 90's were already far far away atleast I have some memories of those last few years before the suckish 2000,2001,2002,.....
@SabbathMan8815 i watched it non stop too. i first got introduced to smooth jazz here and have loved it ever since. and when i was a kid i wanted 2 b involved in weather forecasting or something. i was fascinated by it
Thanks for posting The Weather Channel promos from 1991! I started watching that channel around that time. We had this channel through Continental Cablevision in Dayton, Ohio at the time.
Anyone from the New York City area remember when they did the tri-state report for us back then? Instead of a local forcast at the end of the hour at night, the studio anchors would give an actual forecast for the tri-state. I was kinda young back then, but I do remember it. The good ole' days.
Ahh, I love these bumps. The best, in my opinion. The five-day planner bump was always my favorite; the clouds at 1:04 used to fascinate me, even at seven years old.
I miss all these promos- TWC was so much genteler back then- too bad I was too young to understand all that, so it kinda freaked me out, but I couldn't turn away!
Everything was so much better back then, I don't know where to begin. If you stop the video exactly at :54, you can see the "good evening" forecast intro. Now that is pure nostalgia.
I really miss these days, when The Weather Channel used to be about "weather" and not "quarterly profits."

It's nice seeing Dave Schwartz in the final shot. TWC will not be the same without him.

Just memories now, things will never be the same like they were back then. All we have is the memories.

I agree. I know exactly how you feel. It seems too commercialized (if that's the right word to describe it nowadays)

Yep, these are the graphics I saw every morning before school. I practically had that 5-Day Business Planner promo memorized at one point!
