My son had a westie who was brought up with a cat she was like his sister he was very protective with her. He would chase any other cat he saw although he would not harm it if he got it cornered . Im told they were bred to rid the north of scotland from wild cats

They are real "Terriers"..very game and withreally strong characters.
Westies are VERY individualistic, both inlooks and personality.
No two Westies seem to look the same but they are, usually, wonderful with other Dogs and Children and Adults, PROVIDED THEY ARE TRAINED PROPERLY!!:)
Just show them, in a nice but firm, way that YOU are in charge.
Best decision I ever made but they are soooo sociable that keeping one is "almost" cruel I've come to realise over the last 40 years.....
