  • One of my favorites!

  • dopo john grant non potevano mancare i grandi Midlake

  • 60th thumbs up !!!!

Am It has made my day to see that there are no justin bieber fans listening to this song hitting the WRONG thumb !

60 to zero and zero is where is shall stay !

  • @italllies

i just hit the dislike button in order to punish you for another mindless Justin Bieber comment. I like the song though.

  • @snavlis21 ha way to go dude !

  • Great!

Artists like Midlake are willing to take time to realize a direction/ vibe (it took them a year of playing everyday before they had made any progress and then another before it was finishedholed up for 2 year diligently working on something they were unsure any one would care about). Just from a $ perspective, it takes courage to believe in the value of what's not making $. These were the PsychExFutureHeart songs of the day yesterday. Check out todays at FutureHeartDays twitter.

  • A friend advised me to listen to Midlake just a few weeks ago. Im so glad that she did, because it's one of the best things I've heard for donkey's years: beautiful songs and wonderful harmonies.

  • MrGer1952...great BECAUSE you are 58!

I'm not far off your age & this band are one of the best I've seen in 30+ years of gigs.

Interviewed them for my show on 103 The Eye & they were so friendly. This track Rulers is just wonderous!

    Steve Edwards

  • great even when you are my age 58

  • racingsnake

Occupanther and Courage of others blow those away.

  • If you`d heard bamnan and slivercork and milkmaid grand army you would be amazed.I`ve been a midlake fan for a good few years now and songs like moppers medley and paper gown are still just as good.Onwards midlake

    Peace and love x

  • I love a rehash from decades past!

  • They are great and so unique, every song is different but you still know it's Midlake right away.

  • just re-read my comment. is the last line hilarious or is it just me? i laughed my ass off.

  • it's just you.

  • These guys really make a political staetement with this album.Throwback to the 60s.Refreshing to see it done with classy nice sounding vibes.

  • This is brilliant stuff in a day when we live in a vast wasteland of quality music.Touches of the Moody blues.

  • Here are the for Chords Acts of man if anyone is interrested:

    Verse: c#m c#m/a b b/g# - c#m c#m/a b g#

    Chorus: c#m a b6 e a a g#

  • It's like The Decemberists' 'Hazards Of Love', their indie teeny bopper fan base didn't like the fact it had no sing-a-long songs. "Courage" is a much, much more focused album than "Van Occupanther", which is showed by the fact that people aren't just picking out "Roscoe" or "We Gathered In Spring" as "reasons" why it was good. Reminds me in principle of Decemberists' "Hazards of Love" because it looks like one that's going to divide opinion. Personally I love it. But that's only my opinion.

  • hahahahahaha, The Decemberists. give me a fucking break...total garbage

  • That's a well thought out, well construct repost. I couldn't possibly respond to a rebuttal so well structured and contrived. I could call you a musical cretin simply looking for "stand out up beat rock songs" on an indie/folk album, the sort of kumquat that plays "Van Occupanther" for three tracks. I merely used The Decemberists comparison to highlight what people are going to think of the album in comparison to previous works, but evidently such a "subtle" point was lost on you...

  • ...I mean I only spelt it out in plain English, but nevermind. You've heard King Crimson right? Point out the prog-rock elements to me in this album? While "Hazards Of Love" is prog-rock in its very nature. Honestly, I make a point purely to highlight why people are going to find this album, perhaps, more difficult to get into than their previous works and you have to come back with that one line garbage.

But hey if "meatybeard" thinks Midlake's album is only "ok" then we should all take note.

  • I am a massive Midlake fan, going to see them at the 400 capacity Tabernacle next week in London can't wait. New stuff sounds as brilliant as ever.

Apologies for the inevitable lyrical mistakes below but maybe someone can correct them !?! Just thought I'd attempt, as some people on here are wondering what the lyrics are.... here's a start!

  • Before the grow(?) starts to fade, starts to falter, Oh, Let me inside, let me inside, not to wait (?) .

Then on and run through the fields, through the quiet,

Though not their own, not their own, hidden ways(?)

When all the newness of gold travels far from where anyone's been, but like the earth over years

When the acts of man cause the ground to break open,

Oh let me inside, let me inside, not to wait

Great are the sounds of all that live

and all that man can hold

    Sorry 4 mistakes!

  • sounds like,

if all that grows starts to fade, etc. then,

let all that runs thru the fields, thru the quiet, go on with own, on with their own, hidden ways. the last part of the 1st line, not sure of it's meaning. the 2nd, i'm thinking they're telling the slash and burners to leave the animals and their habitats alone. the hidden ways are all the things critters do in their daily peaceful lives we're not aware of. peaceful when they're not eating each other.

  • can't wait to finally listen to the whole record. these song here are excellent...
