Many gov't plans also require you to get pre-approval & if you need a knee replacement or something they feel can wait-the average time in 2007 for knee replacement was 17 1/2 weeks. I don't think America's REALLY ready for that. Emergency room waits average 7 hours. Regular visits often sit 2 hrs to see a regular doctor. That's AFTER you wait 6 days to get into the office. Therefore, anyone employed under your company is guaranteed insurance. So you're paying for the people that have pre-existing condition or the higher risk individuals. All I know is that my wife had a baby and then 2 months later had surgery and all the bills racked up more than $20,000 in less than 3 months and we didn't have to pay anything but a $10 co-pay, my state is one the most expensive state to buy your own health ins. I could NEVER afford health ins. on my own here.

What will you do when your "private, for-profit" insurance company tells you that they won't cover the medical care you need? What will you do when your kid's operation totals $235,000.00 and the "private, for-profit" insurance company tells you they'll only cover $75,000.00 because you reached your "annual contractual limit" and you have to declare bankruptcy? Would universal health care sound good then? In other countries, citizens don't pay one dime for health care; it comes out of taxes!

She qualified for Medicaid b/c she has a pre-existing condition.

my grandmother had firstcare (a premium HMO) AND medicare and it still took her 6 mos to get her knee replacement. And when she developed a brain tumor, the hmo dropped her completely.

If you have a pre-existing condition or you lost your employer group health insurance because you lost your outsourced job, then you have NO CHOICE in health care. Families that are uninsured can't make health care choices - they get no care.

In grade 9 I was hit by a car in the middle of an intersection an ambulance came, I was taken to the hospital a doctor saw me took an X ray put me in a sling and I was home that night. Didn't cost me a cent, my mother is not particularly wealthy had I been in the States I probably would have stood up and walked home. The ambulence worker said not to move at all as there was a chance I had damaged my neck and not realized it if I had standing up could kill me

I would agree. I think it's important to have arguments that way nothing is for certain, because if everyone agreed on the war it would last forever. Politics are all about disagreements. However the question is "Is Obama the guy for the job?" I would say no, because he hasn't held up on his plan. His plan goes against the American philosophy of free markey and capitalism. Many gov't plans also require you to get pre-approval & if you need a knee replacement or something they feel can wait-the average time in 2007 for knee replacement was 17 1/2 weeks. I don't think America's REALLY ready for that. Emergency room waits average 7 hours. Regular visits often sit 2 hrs to see a regular doctor. That's AFTER you wait 6 days to get into the office. Michael Moore is wrong. Most gov't healthcare is disastrous! Go read a/b it.

Therefore, anyone employed under your company is guaranteed insurance. So you're paying for the people that have pre-existing condition or the higher risk individuals. All I know is that my wife had a baby and then 2 months later had surgery and all the bills racked up more than $20,000 in less than 3 months and we didn't have to pay anything but a $10 co-pay, my state is one the most expensive state to buy your own health ins. Let me say this as a person w/ a mother who has a pre-condition-my mother had to apply for private health care & be turned down, & had to purchase state health care for 1 yr at $600 a month & after that she was eligible for medicaid. That was the condition for her to get medicaid-be denied coverage, then 1 year of state insurance. Now she has medicaid & she loves it. She qualified for Medicaid b/c she has a pre-existing condition.

Seems to me Canada's and Britain's health care system works a hell of a lot better than ours does. I'll take whatever imperfections their systems have ANY DAY over the NON-system in the US. We are the ONLY industrialized nation in the world with no national health care plan for its citizens. That's beyond pathetic. C'mon American, have the smarts to focus on real issues! If you have a pre-existing condition or you lost your employer group health insurance because you lost your outsourced job, then you have NO CHOICE in health care. Families that are uninsured can't make health care choices - they get no care.
When are we going to put together a system that works for everyone, all paying in on a fair basis according to our means and receiving care according to need? Not welfare, an equitable fair health care system.

Uh.. Canada has fantastic healthcare. In grade 9 I was hit by a car in the middle of an intersection an ambulance came, I was taken to the hospital a doctor saw me took an X ray put me in a sling and I was home that night. Didn't cost me a cent, my mother is not particularly wealthy had I been in the States I probably would have stood up and walked home. The ambulence worker said not to move at all as there was a chance I had damaged my neck and not realized it if I had standing up could kill me

My question is how is a $2,500 tax credit going to help a cover an entire family? Because it would decrease the quality 10 fold. You don't seem to understand this crucial aspect to the subject. If everyone has healthcare free of charge, the quality is going to drop. Waiting timea will increase tremendously. And worst of all since the gov't is going to pay it, it's going to have control over what you eat, your physical exercise and other aspects of your civil liberties because it has to pay the bill. It's not a black and white issue. You need to start realizing the subtleties.

If managed care programs and their concomitant provider networks are abolished, then doctors would no longer be guaranteed patients solely on the basis of their membership in a provider group and regardless of the quality of care they provide. However the question is "Is Obama the guy for the job?" I would say no, because he hasn't held up on his plan. His plan goes against the American philosophy of free markey and capitalism.
