  • Dude, you are pro with snakes but that is not a good setup for tegus. You need a basking spot. You also need cypress mulch for him to burrow down at night. Tegus dig down every night!

  • @SKExotics

Dude, there is a basking spot in his cage and my tegu loves to burrow into the newspapers at night.

    Thanks for your comment.

  • Lizards do not benefit from radiant heat, they need a bulb for basking, they dont absorb heat well through their stomachs. Tegus need UV lighting to prevent metabolic bone disease. You already have a vision cage, I would recommend a mercury vapor bulb. Lastly, I dont think he loves the newspaper, its just his only option! Give him some wood chips!

  • @SKExotics Buzz has an over head ceramic heater and below tank 11 inch flex watt heater tape. I can't imagine him enjoying digging into wood chips any more than crawling underneath the newspapers. I went away from using wood chips many years ago. In my opinion using newspapers allows me to know when he has gone to the bathroom. I am able to keep his cage very clean. I have a sky light in my snake room which gives my animals a source of UV.

Thank you for sharing your opinion with us.

  • I love tegu, one of the best reptile in the world

  • @LATINOLOCO187

I couldn't agree with you more.

    Brian / FGS

  • Basically that is his cage that he lives and sleep everyday? =) If it is i like it hehe quiet simple

  • @Lamsam123

Yeah his cage measures 18 inches high X 3 feed deep X 5 feet long. He gets a lot of attention and excersize. He is one of the stars of my reprile presetnations.

    He's a lot of fun.

  • @HINuCleaAr u know when u first get them they may be alittle mean and u may be bit but I never have been and I can open my Argentine tegus jaw open and she doesn't care so they have the mind mentality of a 5 year old and there great pets better friends and the best family they offer love and compassion and protection there fun and playful and once they get to know u will always want to be taking out go look at my little 3 ft long baby shes still growing 4 1/2 ft to 5ft iguana on steroids=tegu

  • great video man i was wondering if you had a link or address to the place that you got thanks for your time.

  • Hi do you let your tegu hibernate and I'm trying to get my parents to get me a tegu from varnyard for Christmas do you have anything for me to say to them

  • My corn snake recognizes me anyone can handle her but she always is trying to get back to me to wrap around my arm

  • @jth112

    That's very cool.

    Brian / FGS

  • Awesome video Brian. I really want one. I thought they needed eight foot cages. I might be able to pull off a five foot cage.

  • @ThumperChris1

My tegu seems to do well in a five foot cage.

    Brian / FGS

  • @ThumperChris1 i would really do a six foot enclosure as a minimum, if you do a five foot enclosure just make sure to take him out all the time

  • You know, maybe that isn't such a bad idea.

    Brian / FGS

  • I think buzz needs a girl friend so I can buy one of his babys. Lol he's looking great brian. Good luck with the rest of this season.

  • Hello. I have just one more question. Where did you get your vision cage?

  • @KidBluey

I bought all of my vision cages used from a guy in the Bay Area.

    Brian / FGS

  • @djh9595

I did a lot of research before Ibought my tegu.

My research showed me that if you want tolizard to be more like a dog thana lizard then get a TEGU.

    Good luck

    Brian / FGS

  • @fgs9 can you give me the measurements on the vision cages for the tegu?

  • Thanks for showing him, he is super tame.

  • Can you do an update on your albino Burmese python? He's gorgeous

  • he looks a right softy......really nice lookin lad, same here with the dogs, totaly different than snakes, dogs share my bed, never done that with my boa :)

  • Brian i know you take good care of your snakes,i respect you a lot for that. Your tegu looks healthy as well, but when i look at how he's housed i can't help but feel really sad for him. A lot of snake keepers make the mistake of confusing snakes with lizards when it comes to housing, even snakebytes Tv.. And its really kind of sad and then others go and house like that, but a few 10-14" of substrate would not hurt, and a much bigger cage as we'll.And I mean no disrespect at all..

  • @PythonMania364

Every other day or so my tegu has free rayne of a fenced off area in my back yard. The fenced off area is around 30 feet X 30 feet. I hope now you feel less sad for him. Believe me he is very well taken care of.

    Brian / FGS

  • Was wondering if you could do a quick vid explaining more about genetics. Specific focus on whether or not certain strains are true hets or if they're all just "possible" hets until proven. I just see a lot of baby ball pythons that are being sold as het this and het that, but I thought that they all had to be proven. Thank you sir.

  • @sweetaznate

    Nate,

I'll put something together for you.

    Brian / FGS

  • @fgs9 thank you very much sir. I think its awesome how you share so much when there are countless amounts of breeders out there that simply keep all of there knowledge to themselves. Love your passion for creating quality balls too.

  • hey brian have you madeb new ball python morphs if so can you make a video about it sincerely cristian

  • @TheMultijohnnytv

No I have not made any new ball pythons morphs.

    Brian / FGS

  • Is he the only none snake reptile you have??

  • @BrianFerriera

    Brian,

I also have a blue tongued skink.

    Brian / FGS

  • u can also line it and take a walk with it;D man the more i see these thing the more i want them!:( just cant afford it and my mom wont let me buy one!:( but im already lucky she let me buy snakes!:D

oh and brian, is it possible that you see buzz as a pet cuz you just got 1 tegu(well i think you have) and like a 1000 snakes. if you would see your snakes as a pet you would be like really really really really busy!

i see my snakes as a pet but i just got 2 and spent lots of time with them!:D

  • @OG035

I guess I should clarify something. I look at a pet as an animal that I can have a relationship with. I hope I don't offend you, but snakes are not a very inteligent animal. Where the lizard seems to know who I am and makes a dedcision to walk over to me and crawl up into my arms. I look at my dogs as pets because they have a personal relationship with me. Maybe it's just me, but I have never cried because one of my snakes died, but have cried like a baby when my dog died.

    Brian / FGS

  • @fgs9 well that makes sense!:D and no you didnt offend me;)

  • Can you tell when your Ball Pythons are ready/going to be willing to breed? If there are like any signs you look for? If so, a video about that would be awesome!

    Thanks!

  • @ClassyHerps

No there are really no visual signs of when the females are ready to breed. You just have to keep putting males with the females.

    Brian / FGS

  • Wow he is so cool !!!!!

  • He's so cute! I want one. :P

  • Don't they like to dig? And does he not need UVB?

He looks so happy with you!

  • @ClassyHerps

There is a huge sky light in my snake room that gives him UVB. He's also given free rayne in my back yard a couple of times a week.

    Brian / FGS

  • very nice tegu i love him he's brill

  • How much did everything cost? Him and his setup? Very cool pet btw!

  • @TheGamerOnWii If you have to ask then your not ready for one...

  • @PythonMania364 I dunno why I couldnt ask how much his $500 dollar cage and a $150 dollar lizard...Im not planning on getting one lol i was just interested in how much a lizard of that size would cost....

  • @TheGamerOnWii

I had him shipped out to California from New York for $280.

    Brian / FGS

  • @fgs9 Ohh ok i was a website selling them for $150..

  • @TheGamerOnWii

$150 seems to be the average price for these guys.

    Brian / FGS

  • aww :)
