Canadians complaiend about a $10 per ton CO2 tax, but the swedes pay $150 per ton. What's it about sweden that makes them ok with this? Denmark, Germany and Cost Rica are three other countries I know of that have a carbon tax.

Anyone even considering a carbon tax is very stupid. There is no such thing as a greenhouse gas, all gases capture radiation, and a trace element in the atmosphere will not capture any more infared radiation than oxygen or nitrogen. Doesn't anyone realize that co2 concentrations increase in the atmosphere BECAUSE the earth is heating up, and there is no evidence that more co2 will cause earths temperature to rise. When the oceans heat up, they release dissolved co2, case closed, fuck al gore.

I agree. when faced with serious problems all the politicians can think of is how to exploit the situation and make money of out it. Hell knows what our government (UK) is doing with all the tax money they robbers of daily. That's not a valid comparison. This would tax businesses that make their profits by polluting the air and risking public health. I'm sorry but it is not good business for someone to exploit a situation for personal gain at the expense of everyone else's well being. If left to their own devices, humans have shown through out history that they are very willing to injure others if it helps them get ahead or it may just be from ignorance.

It's a similar comparison because he feels that a tax "penalty" will limit people from doing harm. Whether it be to themselves or the enviroment. I feel Al is the one exploting a situation. The earth is getting warmer. I think evryone agrees with that. However, people forget that CO2 is a natural gas and the chart that he has in his presentation shows that temperature went up and was followed by the carbon dioxide. There is no consensus in the science community. All to create another tax.

I agree with nirosive. Nobody but the rich benefit from all the taxes that are added but the politicians. Many of them retire very wealthy. Plus we have the added headache that they want economic growth to accelerate. They do that now by letting China and India export goods that do not last and there for generate wealth for the rich and pollution for the rest of use.
