  • "no taxation without representation" words to live by

  • Bla-bla-bla-bla... i mabe make a song of your "bla-bla-bla" .... I think you`re nice... But - is this really American?????? - (You are talking about... Hmmm. The world would be very embaressing of that!!) ;-PP

  • this is cool go Melissa ! love ya

  • So, either I get fucked in the ass by state *or* from some guy. Interesting.

  • Yes, they have awoken a sleeping giant.

  • Lets remember that Prop 8 BARELY passed....52% vs 48% I would NOT consider that a majority. Know what? Just wait. yeah, its taking awhile but we will win.

  • @akfunnyguy Yeah, passed that closely because of the Morons pouring money in from Utah.

  • She doesn't want to pay her newly-found ex child support for Tammy raising her children either.

Ethridge is self-centered and does not care about anybody else.

  • @HypnoToad72 Like you would know anything about the subject. Now go crawl back into your cool, damp, dank, hole loke a good toad.

  • @HypnoToad72

Not true at all. Stop spreading lies. She wants shared custody and has NEVER said she would not pay child support. She has also been giving Tammy $10,000.00 per month since they separated. Melissa cares a great deal. Too bad you didn't care enough to do a little research before you spread this lie about her.

  • Taxation without representation!

Google it and you will understand.

Bravo Melissa for taking this bold move to support equality. Equality among human rights.

Can you imagine if this was an issue of race or color?

The LGBT community should be outraged to the point of anarchy.

I am grateful to be me and I should be free to be me!

  • If Melissa Etheridge doesn't want to pay her taxes because of Prop 8 not being passed, then I don't want to pay for National Health care since I don't want to be told what I can and cannot eat, exercise or do with my own body.

  • the California Supreme court gave a kiss up to the right wing by upholding prop 8 but wanted to throw a bone to the gay marriage people by upholding the existing gay marriages..this was a total political ruling not a legal ruling

  • then later continued by Peter (aww... what a faithful disciple)

Today it has becomes some sort of crazed and distorted hierarchy, and sometimes if you examine closely (between the bible, and common catholic/christian practices) CHRISTS WORD IS IGNORED.

Now lets talk about homosexuality. Jesus was in fact in love with a man. READ THE BIBLE. And Im sure he would rather have a homosexual who wanted to do good, then a fast talking hypocrite who does nothing but shun homosexuals all day.

  • Christ didn't only loved ONE man. Your misguided concept is quit weird. To those who believe Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah, the Savior, etc. Christ loved ALL men (meaning mankind), otherwise he wouldn't have come to Earth to die for them. I hope I'm misreading what you write if you're implying that because Jesus loved a man (meaning John "the beloved") Jesus was gay !!?? That's ill conceived and pure malicious missinformation. John 17 reads that Jesus loved ALL His disciples.

  • The bible refers to John as 'the disciple whom Jesus loved'. If you read John, the language makes it pretty obvious that John was more special to Jesus than any other man. Of course he loved all men. Who says different? And the language may be a bit ambiguous, but to dismiss the assertion that Jesus was in love with John based on the language in the book of John by saying that he loved all men is a cop-out.

John was plainly different and special for Jesus. That is obvious.

  • I'm affraid you just want to read between lines and obtain the information that appears to please you or advance your personal view. You're wrong. Jesus loved other men (Mark 4:21). Mark mentions Jesus beholding a young rich man and loving him. Does it mean Jesus conveted this youn man? Please read the verse and tell me your interpretation. Mine is this, that as anybody, you may have favorites or feel special affection for someone. Please explain that passage.

  • As I said, the bible says Jesus loved all men. But if you actually read John, and you are honest, you will come to the same conclusions I have laid out.

You are being childish, and I have no agenda, other than truth, which I have told.

As a Christian, I am honest. Do what you will.

    Peace, out.

  • I'm glad you are Christian and that you think you're honest but, in every way I find your analysis of Jesus' relationship with John intelectually DIShonest. Do you agree with Al Sharpton's idea that Jesus was black? If you think that he's got an agenda, then you should HONESTLY wonder if you're not driven by your own agenda. I've studied the Bible now for 33 years and read it countless times and particularly the New Testament and I don't read what you can read. I must be "childish" then!

  • I hate how whenever homosexuality is mentioned the word GOD is thrown around. Anyone who has had any sort of education would know that the two ARE NOT EVEN RELATED. Well, we could spend all day talking about the many sins that there are in the bible, LUST being one of them. OH my. Does that mean that practically everyone in the world is a SINNER? God forbid!

Lets talk about God & religion, shall we? Religion is an age-old practice that was started by of course Christ himself

  • No. Religion existed long before Christ walked the earth. And it was his greatest enemy, as it is to all mankind.

Spirituality, Faith in God and Christ, love. These things are what matter.

  • I would love to see all members of the Gay and Lesbian community refuse to pay their state taxes. Why should they considering they are not treated equally. Constitutionally prop 8 is absurd, clearly we are not the land of the free.

  • Great idea, and when they tell the other inmates that they are in jail for tax evasion, then they can get raped in the showers. That is the best idea ever!!!!

  • "love to see all members of the Gay and Lesbian community refuse to pay their state taxes"

I would love to see them in jail then.

  • man wrote the bible, not god, and man is fallible, therefore it is not unreasonable to think that there are parts if not all of the bible that is written to serve the narrow minded views of man and not the all embracing love of God.

  • True.

    And I am a Christian.

  • We have a right whether you think we do or not. I should be able to have the same rights i believe in god. God made us in his image hmmmm yea. Duh!

  • Yes GOD made you in his image and he loves you. But he wants you to do his will not sin and homoxesuality is a sin. If you believe in God why dont you believe in what his word says? If you went to God he could restore all the hurt in your life and he could find you a husband. God has made you for a man. I am guessing you are a woman because of your screen name.

  • they do NOT have the same rights. A man who's partner is in the hospital can't see him because he can't get married. cuz of people like you. no one says eating shelfish is a sin...

  • I have been in the hospital and I've been in intensive care and many, MANY men friend have been able to come and visited me. I don't know what hospitals would close their doors unless the person is in such a critical condition where not even relatives can see them. I don't understand your point. If you're refering of marital rights I understand, but visitation rights depend on the instructions of those in a legitimate relationship.

  • Where do you live? I am in Texas, and couldn't see my friend (not lover, just friend) who is intensive care. I was told "immediate family only".

    Good for you...

  • I'm in Utah and the difference here is what instructions I gave those in the nurses booth or what instructions my wife gave. Furthermore, My doctor had to approve and he did. I'm sorry to hear what happened to you but in Utah you wouldn't have entered either if I'd had given instructions to prevent visitors.

  • how does someone give instructions when unconscious?

Sorry, but most folks (that includes most straight, married folks and everyone else) don't take of that beforehand.

Gays don't have the same rights. I understand the temptation to claim otherwise, but it is simply not so.

Many fear that if gays are allowed the right to marry, it will open the door to polygamy, for example. But that isn't necessarily true, as this is is about discrimination on the basis of gender, nothing else.

  • @ChristinaWatkinson the funny thing is all i has ageinst gays is the unprotected but sex.....

  • @jannikmt So many spelling mistakes...

  • @jannikmt as if straight couples don't have unprotected butt sex... RIGHT.. lol... we all know these days girls are takin it up the bum

  • since when is second class citizenship acceptance?

  • Comment removed

  • Coloradem, please read my entire response before demonstrating ignorance. Thank you!

  • Coloradem. To me, every different version is like a witness. They may say it differently but ultimately everyone says the same thing. That homosexuality is a sin. You call me whatever you want.

  • Call me a bigot, stupid, whatever. I dont know you and I dont take offense. But dont call good bad and bad good. You are a Parish leader, learn, repent and apply. Ask anybody outside your circle to help you understand these passages if you dont. Dont reason Paul in favor of your lifestyle. Dont lie to yourself!

  • Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

  • New American Standard Bible: Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

  • For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

  • Contemporary English Version: So God let these people go their own way. They did what they wanted to do, and their filthy thoughts made them do shameful things with their bodies. They gave up the truth about God for a lie, and they worshiped God's creation instead of God, who will be praised forever. Amen.

  • God let them follow their own evil desires. Women no longer wanted to have sex in a natural way, and they did things with each other that were not natural. Men behaved in the same way. They stopped wanting to have sex with women and had strong desires for sex with other men. They did shameful things with each other, and what has happened to them is punishment for their foolish deeds.

  • Holman Christian Standard Bible: Therefore God delivered them over in the cravings of their hearts to sexual impurity, so that their bodies were degraded among themselves. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served something created instead of the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

  • This is why God delivered them over to degrading passions. For even their females exchanged natural sexual intercourse for what is unnatural. The males in the same way also left natural sexual intercourse with females and were inflamed in their lust for one another. Males committed shameless acts with males and received in their own persons the appropriate penalty for their perversion.

  • New Living Bible: So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each others bodies. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.

  • That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.

  • Alex spends so much time on this video it reminds me of one of Melissa's best songs...."You Must Be Crazy For Me". He's more facinated with Melissa than most lesbians I know!

  • I'm fascinated with people who cannot defend a position with out recurring to ridicule. You lack a defensible argument in every answer you've provided. Typical Liberal, Pro-Gay Agenda lefty. I'm here because you tried to attack those who believe in true religion by misinterpreting passages from the Bible. So far you haven't prevailed. Paul spoke well about people like you in Romans 1:29. Read if you want to see yourself at the mirror!

  • Your "facinations" are very strange indeed. The fact that you are unable to understand the positions that I have laid out for you says much more about you than it does about me.

  • Funny you find my fascinations strange. You were the one misussing the Bible and now that you cannot defend your "biblical" arguments you find me strange? Boy (or girl) you're a piece of work! Let's focus on your original argument and you'll find yourself cornered. You want to use Paul and even Jesus to your convenience. SORRY, I do believe the Bible's are true and not relative to the moment, vogue or convenience. That's your case. Call yourself what you want, gay, homo, pseudo. I call you wrong

  • I strongly suggest you seek counseling. Any person who claims to be heterosexual who spends so much time perseverating on gays and lesbians has a serious psychological issue (look at Fred Phelps for instance).

I'm not saying this to be mean, I'm seriously concerned for your stability. I fear you could be another Scott Roeder or James von Brunn.

You may not like my understanding of the Bible, but how does it affect you? It isn't as if I'm trying to convince you to be gay or anything.

  • Dear Coloradem, I don't need conseling and NOT, I'm not fascinated with you or YOUR choice lifestyle. I don't care who is that Melissa lady. I don't care about her music or acting or whatever she does. You decided to misuse the Bible and I cannot allow that. If you see, EVERYONE of my comments has to do what that. If you want to continue the Bible debate I'm ready, otherwise you're just a waste of time just like every Anti-Prop 8 celebrity. Remember your note about fibers and seafood?

  • You do need counseling and you are apprently quite fascinated with Melissa and all things gay or you wouldn't frequent this particular video of the millions on this site.

I will reiterate what I said earlier, the fact that you are unable to understand standard, American-English as I have used in my responses to you (for instance, your not comprehending that I am a male) calls into question your ability to comprehend the Bible which is written in much more complex English translations.

  • I'm sorry about thinking you were a woman, why does it matter if you like to behave like one anyway? Call into question my mistake but the Bible is a separate thing. Out of the more than 50 different versions of the Bible in the Englishlanguage I have 29 versions of the Bible in my personal library. When something appears turbid or unclear I consult different versions and then I form an opinion. You should do that too! First though, have a mental enema to clean your mind from the wrong agenda!

  • Maybe in a future TYT video, they can talk about those annoying-as-hell Flip Video ads!

  • Mark99k- You obviously dont get it! Im sorry to tell you that you and your Pastor have no clue about the Scriptures. Im sorry for those you teach. You may be sincere and youll be blessed for the goodness of your heart, but otherwise rendered UN-innocent for your misguided ways.

  • Mark 99k- Certainly Acts 13 17 talk about the early Christians struggle with the Law of Moses that forbade to mix fibers and eat shellfish. You say there is nothing of the sort in Chapters 16-17. Well you must study the Scriptures to find the answer.

  • Mark 99k- Read and learn! If youre lazy to read the entire section then Im including a portion here. Sorry pro-Gay agenda defenders. Heres a religious message for a misguided soul that pretends to use the Bible to justify homosexuality under the pretense of Christian faith.

  • actually the misguided souls would be the ones using the bible to justify their hatred of homosexuality

  • Interesting comment. Since when the Bible can be used to support homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle? In his epistle to the Romans, Paul repeatedly spoke against it and John the Beloved against it in Revelations. 1 Corinthians 6:9 is another great example. These passages do not incite to hatred but establish that homosexuality is not acceptable to God. Questions?

  • Mark 99k- Paul talking about homosexuality (Romans 1:23-28) among the Gentiles said: And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever.

  • Mark99k- According to Paul, those Gentiles who had been created at Gods image, dishonored their bodies. How did they do that?

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.

  • What recompense Mark99k? Read on:

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. TRANSLATION: God gave up and allowed them to obtain perdition by way of their reprobate minds that reason everything to their convenience. Sounds like the Gay Christian establishment.

  • Coloradem mentioned shelfish and migling of fibers was prohibited under the Law of Moses. Mark99k You dont get it. Chapters 11 17 of Acts talks about the struggle of early Christian Jews in regards of many Gentile practices that included homosexuality.

  • MArk99k - The Jews wanted the Gentiles to adhere to Jewish Law. Chapter 15:19-20 says:

Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world. Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

  • Did you read Mark99k? No fornication meaning no sexual sins allowed but most everything else yes! That means that after Chapt 15 I can eat as much shellfish as I please, but, if youre homosexual, youre not to do ANY homosexual act anymore.

  • Mark99k I hope you see how we love to whip ourselves into such a red-eyed frenzy. We love to do that. Obviously you dont read your Scriptures to do it or you want to ignore whats not convenient for you. What is it?

  • Mark,

I want to contribute to the gay movement,

1/2 off for faggots and dykes on vasaline

1/2 off on ladies night for fags and dykes

1/2 off on cucumbers and carrots for all fags and dyke whores

DUDE!! You are gross I was just thinking of how desperate and perverted homosexuals are that they engage in anal sex and I've been married almost twenty years and I have never had anal sex with my wife! I mean what guy want shit on his dick? This is the institution you are championing? You're a douche!

  • Since gays are denied more than 1,000 civil rights on the Federal level and countless more from state to state, why are we paying the same taxes? I think we should start a movement to get an even 40% reduction across the board. I know it sounds kind of like selling our rights, but hey why not? They arent doing us much good anyway and it would be something for all the other abuses we must endure just for being gay!

  • Funny....I would imagine that most of the Republicans who were "teabagging" would support Ms. Etheridge's position.

  • No, the teapartygoers paid their taxes and they paid too much in their opinions. That is why they had the right to protest. Etheridge does not.

  • Melissa Etheridge pays more taxes than 95% of the loser teabaggers. She is an American and as such, has every right to protest.

  • "Melissa Etheridge pays more taxes than 95% of the loser teabaggers."

That's because she MAKES MORE MONEY than 95%, not because she WANTS TO.

  • I didn't say she "wanted to", I said she does.

She also has every right to protest.

  • Most of us DO NOT care about your point of view either...so I guess you could say we are Christ-Like in that sense....

  • Most gay people know how to spell straight though.... A "strait" is a narrow body of water between two land masses.

  • Why should anyone be forced to pey their taxes? Particularly if the money they pay is going towards such homophobe amendment as Prop 8? I know I'm not planning to pay my taxes if something similar happens here in Washington state.

  • she is a human right's hero

  • What does this anchor mean "It could get out of hand"? It already IS out of hand! Income taxes are 100% pure tyranny. Marriage is an important right for everyone but I consider Melissa Etheridge to be a great American hero just for refusing to pay income taxes. She's right up there with Wesley Snipes and all the other decent Americans who've been abused by federal, state and local lawmakers and all the ruthless mercenaries- a.k.a. police- they've hired to terrorize dissenters.

  • Good for her..let her go to jail then she wont have any rights..sounds good to me.

  • The last phrase is laughable. "They have to have the same rights as us." Who is "they" and who is "us"? Aren't those, who support Prop 8 all equal and the "same" So, aren't "they" equals then? Funny, uninformed and childish 110%. Typical liberal media!!!!

  • Those in support of prop 8 are against equal rights dumbass. Typical conservative dribble.

  • So are you a funny, childish, trivial and uninformed liberal or a dumbass conservative? You can call me anything you want, yet you fail to see my point. Who is "they" and who is "us" ? I though that to Liberals there was no distinction. I guess there is!

  • Jesus you're a moron.

There is plenty to distinguish between the hypocrite right wing and the rest of us who believe in equal rights. These rights do not include the right to take away the freedoms of others.

  • First of all, my name is NOT Jesus. I'd love to be as he is but I'm far from that. As far as taking other's right away, I think that you haven't stopped to think that I have the right to safeguard the religious institutions and the rights to those Californians who don't care about Gay Marriage. You Liberals cried when Bush won by electoral college and demanded popular vote. Well, I think that Californians have spoken and like it or not, that's Democracy. Why don't you whinners quit crying?

  • Gay people getting married does not affect your rights and freedoms in any way. You're not defending anything, you're attacking the rights of others.

That's the difference between those in favor of prop8 and those against.

  • This issue is not what's your agenda and what's mine. The issue here is that you Liberals like democracy ONLY when it's convenient to you. How many straight did you see whinning in Iowa? You Liberal, -pro-Gay people should make up your mind. Hollywood's millions couldn't change the mind of the majority. Why continue crying? You should vote Barbra Streisand, Cindy Lauper and Tom Hanks into office. Or vote them into the California High Court, then you'll win. But c'mon, enough whinning! Honestly!

  • I think you're a little obsessed with politics, dude. Who gives a damn about Hollywood, liberals, Iowans, etc.

I'm discussing the merits of the issue (what an idea!) and pointing out how pathetically immoral the right wing is.

  • Righ wings? O my gosh, I thought you weren't into politics. Ha!

My dear offended friend, EVERYTHING is politics. The problem: Liberals call that RIGHTS.

  • Ok then, How about trying again with complete sentences and a point?

  • If you didn't get the point yet, you must be the typical Liberal that doesn't understand English when it's inconvenient. Typical of people like you that when they cannot argue against an idea, the best way is to ridicule the presenter of such idea. Typical, typical! If you don't get it, what about reading every statement. Probably you want to use the "Audio Previews" maybe the more sense you employ, the better you'll get the point. Bottom-line, Liberals like you have a communication impairment!

  • You've not presented a half coherent idea. Stop embarrassing yourself.

  • Ha!

  • why should a minority rights be voted on by a majority

  • If you support Prop 8 (and I don't know if you do) you're a liberal. I'd find it very interesting to ask you what's your opinion about the Electoral College and if you think we should be governed by the majority or there should be a buffer as we have now in the US.

  • really? wow now i always thought those who supported equality (anti prop h8) was liberal

  • No my friend, equality is much different than special treatment. The Liberal establishment that promoted Femenism, and Affirmative Action which in the process caused male inequality AND education inequality or what we now call "reverse discrimination" is now trying to change the face of an institution. Abraham Lincoln wasn't Liberal and the Kux Klux Klan wasn't a conservative movement. IT WAS LIBERAL. See who you're siding with? Liberal extremists!!!

  • everyone just fuck off

  • Marriage is a major biblical thing. The same bible that says that same sex relations is wrong and a sin.

What I dont understand is why gay people would want to be members of a "club" that labels them as sinful and wrong.

I mean, I can understand the yearning to stand before the world and profess an undying love but...

Gay marriage is, to me, like driving a car without having a drivers license. I dont get it.

  • my sister, who is a doctor and thinks scientifically, is getting married outside the church to her future husband. She is 100% atheist and is an incredible intelligent individual. She is the FIRST to voice her opinion on how she doesn't believe in god (ONLY if it's brought up to her....she refuses to shy away from that subject..... and i respect that)

She's getting married though. so no, it's not JUST a biblical thing. I'm not even mentioning homosexuality.

    Do you understand now?

  • And one more thing, nalk20.

Most Gay people would not want to be members of that "club".... i agree with you.... but that is why these gay people would not get married in a church just as my sister wouldn't get married in a church because she does not believe in organized religion (keeping in mind she is getting married to man)

So when my atheist sister who thinks the idea of JESUS is laughable has a ceremony to celebrate her and her future husband's love, it will STILL be called MARRIAGE

  • I don't understand why Christians would want to be apart of a club that has performed Mass Genocide, Wars, Corruption, Child Rape, Adult rape, Slavery, Sexism, Racism, Bigotry...so on and so forth. I mean Christians have murdered a whole hell of alot of people over the years in the name of God and Jesus...or do you guys just say those were the radicals of christianity?

  • Whats so funny is that many people that throw around the word extreamest dont even know what it means if a Christian was an extreamest they would be unbalevably loving caring and forgiving as the Bible says. instead people say christians are extreamists or radical it is extreamly stupid how can you be a radical Christian your eather a Christian or not a Christian some people call people that live by the Bible are radical know there just Christians and others who dont but use the name are fake

  • The same Bible says that eating shrimp and lobster are "major sins" (in Leviticus...two or three verses above the same-sex thing); it also says that mingling fibers is a major sin (same general vecinity of the same sex thing in Leviticus).

So until you swear off shrimp, lobster and mixed fiber clothes, don't lecture others on engaging in same sex relations....

  • Funny! You don't know much about the Bible to use it to support you argument. While eating shrimp and lobster ceased from being a sin in Acts 16-17. (New Testament). Homosexuality never ceased to be a sin as in the Epistle of Romans and the last Book of Revelations. Your argument is poor, misleading and purely ignorant of the Bible. So, while the Bible allows me to eat at Red Lobster, I think the Bible is telling you to quit cruising San Francisco's infamous Castro sector.

  • Actually there's isn't a single word in Acts 16-17 about shellfish (or about fish, or even about eating). It's pretty funny how you guys whip yourselves into such a red-eyed frenzy, thinking you're making an impact, then trash what little credibility you might have by lying openly about stuff that's easy to check.

  • Congrats Melissa! Stay true to yourself.

  • She should suffer the same fate as Al Capone...

  • So if it's "terrific" for her to not pay her taxes because she is upset over the majority defining social policy as it has every right to do, then would it also be terrific for me to not pay my taxes because I know it will go to pay for the act of murdering innocent unborn children?

And of course the girl in this video doesn't get it. Most libs don't get it. This isn't about civil rights. The Constitution does not provide any such right to same-sex marry, nor does it imply it.

  • sorry Believent try reading it! (the USA Constitution it states" the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"

that just about covers it fully!

really i DO wish some people would READ the damm thing!

  • The Constitution does not address marriage at all. What it does address is "equal protection" (what is good for one is good for all) and "freedom of association" and the right to enter into contracts. Further, Thomas Jefferson, whose opinion is a pretty good indicator of the intent of the framers, warned that the rights of the minority should never be subject to the tyranny of the majority. Additionally, you may want to check out the Boston Tea Party...tax protest is as old as our country.

  • HAHAHAHA really? Marriage where no procreation is possible naturally should be given the same rights? How about two buddies living at a house together who aren't gay but one is unemployed and they eventually get to a point and say "hey lets say we're married and put me on your insurance plan" MORONS! are you fucking stupid?!?!?! DO NOT OPEN THOSE GATES BECAUSE IT WILL DESTROY THE SYSTEM. Its about more than your fucking gays out there. You open it for one group you open it for ALL gay or not.

  • So I gather from your position you oppose post-menopausal women being allowed to marry or men with low sperm counts or ED from being allowed to marry? Further, based on your comment, straight men and women where one is unemployed could also get married for the benes (didn't Britney Spears do something like that in Vegas a few years back), so we should make straight marriage illegal.

  • that girl who doesn't pay her taxes deserves punishment!!!

  • Reading many of the postings here is depressing. The foul language is deplorable. Why do people always have to find a motive to hate others? There is room for all in this world. Live and let live.

Being gay/ lesbian is not a choice, it's how one is born and not acting according to one's nature only leads to unhappiness.

Life is too short for so much hate.

  • This is actually an argument I posed to my family members who voted yes on 8.

If you want to disenfranchise people of their rights, don't make them pay taxes or drive with a license. It's really that simple.

This is classic taxation without representation.

Gay people have no say in a system they are legally bound to contribute to.

    The Founding Fathers would disapprove.

  • Where is this group not being represented?

  • In their own government.

The Federal Government refuses to pass legislation, and SCOTUS refuses to hear a case regarding gay marriage. It's wrong.

Making gay people pay taxes, and then blocking their attempts to appeal and subverting it with ballot referendums is just wrong.

I don't give a shit whether Americans agree w/ gay marriage or not, it's a right that they should have just like everyone else.

  • If the supremes deny a writ of ceritorari does that mean the petitioner is not represented by the government?

  • I don't know of the inner workings of the Supreme Court, and I honestly don't care.

I just know that Proposition 8, DOMA etc are travesties to civil rights, and only reflect poorly upon this countries lack of emotional and sexual maturity.

Politicians refuse to get involved on the issue because they are spineless shitheads, on both sides.

A true liberal/Democrat/progressive would have stood up and demanded that these people be granted a fundamental right that everyone else gets to enjoy.

  • There are legal reasons why the Supreme Court has, as of yet, not heard cases on this issue. This does not mean the people that want their cases heard are not represented by local, state, and federal governments. To say this is a blatant case of taxation without representation is plain wrong.

If this is indeed a civil rights issue, this group has a perfect blueprint for overcoming their problem in the work of Gandhi and Dr. King. To not pay one's taxes is to really confuse what is at issue.

  • I see what you are saying.

While it may not be a case of taxation without representation (though I do think making people pay taxes and not giving them the same rights is just as bad) it is still a case of mob rule.

  • And I see what you are saying as well. I live in CA and I voted NO. I want people to be treated with equity, but understand there are processes we all must go through in order to assert our rights. Take care.

  • Ahem. It's an American tradition. Refer to Boston Tea Party.

  • Boston Tea Party? Well, I must say, dumping tea into Boston Harbor makes about as much sense as not paying one's taxes when the state (not to mention the voting majority) does not agree with one's definition of marriage. Taxes are taxes, marriage is marriage, and successful protest is not only justified, but it stays on point!

  • What is a writ of ceritorari?

  • Are you pointing out that I misspelled certiorari? :)

  • No, I'm seriously asking what you mean! If you could elaborate that would be great.

  • I'm right there with ya sister!

  • I guess the will of the people doesn't count unless it's got the liberal stamp of approval...

  • You said it... freedom of speech isn't free unless you agree with the Almighty Liberal Agenda.

  • Look at this way. If my bridge club awards me the Medal of Honor. How will that hurt anyone, it is my business? But it dilutes the value if anyone can say that they have the medal.

If we decide to call marriage things that it is not, then we alsio dilute marriage. As marriage is of great importance to society, why are we messing with it? It will end up meaning nothing.

    Tekakaromatagi

  • about 50-55 percent of your perfect little marriages fail. If you're concerned about having marriage mean something to you at the expense of the happiness and rights of others, you are a bigot.

  • Actually, no. I am a liberal, fighting poverty and fascism.

    Tekakaromatagi

  • I hate liberal douchebag people who say this is a civilrights issue That is so wrong Its the black people who put 8 over the top. Go figure?

  • its getting marriaged by the state, not by the church is what gays want, idk why people are agaist that, i;m not going to go to the mormons and ask them to marry me and my bf, fuck that.

  • Interesting point, considering this all started because of a lawsuit against a church for not marrying a gay couple. The church lost its tax-exempt status and boom, along came prop 22. If they had left well enough alone, and not tried to push their lifestyle onto these religious zealots, this wouldh ave gone alot smoother than it has. California is a prodominatly Christian state. Think latino and african americans. Both groups very religious, and neither will approve gay marriage.

  • prop 8 you mean, and prove this to me via private message.

they will eventurally, even racist politicions can around after segragation was destoryed in the south, and it will be so with gay marriage.

  • No, it started with prop 22. Prop 22 was originally introduced as an answer to this lawsuit that forced the church to either marry gay couples or, loose tax exempt status. Gay marriage will be fought over for quite some time, as it does not fall into the same bracket as racism. Prop 8 does not discriminate. It does not say that only GAY people cannot marry the same sex, it states at all people, gay or straight cannot marry same sex. It applys equally. Now weather a straight person would want to?

  • no proff eh?

and what is this prop 22?

it does discrminate, and just cuz it doesnt say anything agaist gays doesnt mean it does target them, like the slavery prosion in the us consitusion or jim crow laws.

  • Im sorry, what proff are you looking for? It appears as you are the type of person that makes comments without doing research. Why not go back, get a handle on the debate, and rejoin us when you are up to speed. If you dont know what Prop 22 is, then you obviously dont live in California or are not familiar with what goes on here. Again, did you even read any of the Jim Crow laws? Your comparison makes you look as if you really have no clue.

  • speack four youself, you asshole.

i hav read the consitusion, and it doesnt meansion slavery, but clearly sets out an outline for it.

i;m looking for the proff of a gay coupie trying to get churchs to marry them.

  • speack four myslef asshole? LOL. Your grasp of the facts as well as the english language puts you at a unique disadvantage. Im sorry but I cant continue to take you seriously, nor waste my time responding to your outbursts. Gather yourself, get your facts straight, learn to spell, then come back and present yourself as a person whos opinion matters. As it stands, your statements are laughable at best.

  • yeah whatever, go fuck off and leave me alone, and keep your anti gay shit to yourself, cuz history is on my side, and we will bury you.

  • I will be waiting, anxiously.

  • proved me with evidence, then we talk.

  • Is this a state issue or more an issue for the church? Isn't marriage a religious union? Does California still recognize civil unions or did prop 8 strike those down as well?

  • fuck me? how about we keep your sadistic personal life out of this conversation. oh by the way korn sucks as well.

  • comparing gays to any race is wrong. blacks were slaves, hung, burned and you name it. they went through a fucking lot over time. gays can not get married. i dont see the contrast here. whiney little bastards are all you are grasping at any half assed arguement you can find. please please PLEASE do not pay your taxes so we can throw the lot of you in jail. have a nice day :)

  • Gays were hung, burned, shot, stabbed.

    They still are.

There are more hate crimes commited against gays than blacks CURRENTLY.

Just because gays aren't a race doesn't mean they should be more susceptible to bigotry.

Have a terrible day, asshole. :(

  • are you ever dilusional. keep grasping at them straws nancy.

  • nigga please

  • Dude, she already had the right to marry the person she loved.....well...more or less...depending on hue....but she was protesting OTHER rights that WERE denied to her. And sitting in the FRONT of the bus WAS an ACT OF CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE, just like TAX PROTEST when civil rights are at stake.

  • One of the rights denied Rosa Parks was to sit in the front of the bus. Do you see what I mean? What is at issue here? Do the very thing you're not supposed to do to demonstrate how wrong it is that you are not allowed to do so. When you do something other form of civil disobedience, it distracts both protagonists and observers from the real issue. Can't ride in the front? Ride in the front. Can't get married? Get married. But this must be passive resistance- Dr. King learned from Gandhi.

  • 21st CENTURY PROTEST has begun!

The National Equality Tax Protest ~

    Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

Will the IRS begin to value our human rights when 30,000,000 tax forms are withheld?

Will heterosexuals who "support us" do more than just wish us happy thoughts and good luck?

Will heterosexuals who do NOT support us start to care about our tax dollars once they shoulder MUCH MORE of the US tax burden?

    Stay Tuned, Tax Payers....

  • GayTaxProtest

Oh yes 30 million taxpayers are going to fight the IRS. Right!

The IRS ranks up there with homeland security on the powers they have to collect taxes. Go ahead and don't pay your taxes. It is a federal crime. Federal judges don't mess around like the state elected judges remember that.

You will be getting all the gay action you need in a federal prison. I am sure you will be getting your shit packed on a daily basis there! LOL

  • Oh..you certainly sound like one of those "good christians" you referenced in an earlier post.... You need a good "straight bashing".
