Graham Taylor is/was a legend. The gutter press tried to destroy him. The FA full of tedious, boring old wankers who care more about their lunch than the England team. Our players did not perform, Graham could have done no more IMO. He continues to talk sense and Rob Shepherd should be ashamed of himself. Rant over. Jump forward nearly 20 years .. Tell me Capello is better??? .... ??
I heard the ref, Assenmacher, never reffed an international again. Not only should Koeman have been sent off, but he let the Dutch charge down our free kick,, then when we did the same to theirs, he allowed Koeman to take it again. Bergkamp controlled the ball with his hand before shooting for the 2nd goal too (not that we particularly deserved to qualify for '94, we weren't much cop)
I was lucky enough to meet Graham in 1997 and he was the perfect Gentleman during a time when this film was still fresh in everyone`s mind. It was my pleasure and he had genuine time for a young football fan who was polite to him and gave him respect. Also, despite his misfortunes and mistakens in the England job, his managerial record was quite superb.
"Rob i cannot have faces like yours round about me, if u was one of my players with a face like that id fuckin kick you out!!" classic............. "the whole nation rests on whether rob shepherd is happy or not" ....... never fails to make me laugh.
"you worry rob you worry,,,,, but don't make the rest of us feel f''king worried rob,," lol brilliant line the way it was expressed everything. Priceless.
Taylor was put under ridiculous pressure, it was the impossible job. At least he kept *some* dignity, unlike that cunt Rob Shepherd. A shameful era of English football.
I remember this game and I felt sorry for Taylor that night because England played really well, it was only very bad refereeing and a poor performance from seaman that cost us..
Totally agree. England were great on the night and were cheated out of a place in the World Cup. Having said that, it shouldn't have been a winner take all match, that was incompetent!
The funniest looking coaching staff in history. There's a guy that looks like a complete downer, a short guy who is furious 95% of the time and some random guy in a suit.
@jonybeam Theyr already all over fabio capellos back.i read a comment in a scummy red top newspaper 2 days ago calling Fabio "clueless",and then they were demanding an Englishman in charge. This vid here-proves that they treat English managers just as badly.Fn english press.
A bad match for England and the refereeing was appauling. However, for such an important match what was Taylor thinking when he picked Lee Sharpe and Carlton Palmer?
taylor 4 press 0! its a pity he didnt raise his game before this! he came across, in the documentary, as maybe too nice and didnt appear to have the respect of his players.
Typical scumbag journos who are more concerned for their story than success in this country. It easier to knock someone than support them through their challenges.
Taylor does seem a nice bloke, problem is nice guys dont usually win!!!Andy Sinton, fcuk he was crap at QPR!!!Taylor was an ok club manager, but way out of his depth at int level. England shouldnt have got themselves in an position like this, defeat it Holland wasnt where we blew it, Norway and Poland away was.
It could have been different if the twat Lineker hadn´t retired from the national team instead of sulking like a baby for being substituted against Sweden in Euro 92.
look at the overated rubbish taylor had to work with,we need to wake up in england we are technically terrible at controlling and passing a football end off
It's amazing that Taylor comes across so well out of this docu considering the outcome.
Great to see him hammering that fucking hack too. Anybody could write the bullshit, cliche-ridden shite that the majority of football journo's are responsible for. Unfortunately people lap most of it up.
Fucking cool. GT was under all that pressure in the press conference and still managed to totallu humiliate those two journos whilst keeping it amusing for all. I didn't like him much at the time but looking back it's a bit different must admit..
Graham taylors speech before the Holland game makes me inspired......its a fuckin shame the players wasnt!!!.......great prematch speech...i often listen to it when i need some inspiration
3:49 one hec of a great speech. suprised? i was. Go on Taylor.

Nice fella. He made some mistakes but he had an awful lot of bad luck. It didn't help with some players attitude to the game like Walker and Palmer.

Taylor was too naive and honest, he couldn't play the press properly and ended up really pissing them off, which is why they fucked him over
