  • Ive been cleaning roof and gutters and maintainance/repairs for myself now for 7 years but have yet to walk on a metal roof...how was it as far as traction goes? I mean I can see your not sliding off but how was the comfort level? P.S. You all's videos have helped and inspired myself and my family and we are learning lots that we plan on putting to good use, thank you.

  • If you ever have any questions about roof cleaning and or repairs and maintenance or pressure washers don't hesitate to ask. I would love to be able to return a favor some how. Thanks again.

    =)

  • Good video... Looks like it would a messy job.

  • This so could have turned into a bad 3 stooges video, by droping the pail on the wifes head, then falling off the roof. Im glad to see that things went well. It could have turned out to be one of those high rating u tube vids( Amish guy falls off a roof)

  • Be sure to wear a dust mask or something when renovating that room. Don't wanna get sick. Could be all sorts of bad stuff lingering around like asbestos, rat droppings and similar. All bad for lungs. Also curious if you know how structurally sound your home and roof is? If it leaked for awhile you may have to replace a few rafters.

  • You can't beat a good slate roof, the one on my house is well over 150 years old, I never have any problems with it. Then again, we don't much ice and snow over here, we get plenty of rain instead.

  • we dont see if any that type wonder if they could handle the extream cold and frost? thanks

  • It would probably handle snow ok, depending on the slope (we might get 4 inchs a year here at most, some years we don't get any). I can't see a slate roof holding up to too much expansion/contraction or falling ice. I suppose every roof is designed for the type of climate it is situated in.

  • i like the music at the start. are you going to go with a new steel roof? im thinging about a steel roof on my house?

  • yes when the funding is available

  • Use it up

    Wear it out

    Make it do

    or do without!

This is awesome - please be careful up there young man, your family doesn't need you in a wheelchair with a broke back; accidents happen to us all.

  • thanks but it would be good for rateings??lol will do cheers

  • Great video man!!!! Very informative as always!!! I love your vids!!!

    Keep it up!

  • thanks alot

  • I use to work in a mobile home park when i was a kid in the 70's and i cant count how many roofs i done that to ? and you can also apply it with a mop..and thats not water on the top its the petroluem in the roof sealant .

  • You need a helmet cam..

  • The roof looks a lot better after the application as well.

  • Nice job. Can't wait to see the end result.

  • lol me to!

  • Don't throw away that empty metal bucket. Send it to me!!! I've got a scheme to build a small wood gas generator out of 2 of those. rofl. 5***** for maintaining your shelter, one of what I call the survival basics (food, water, shelter). People don't realize that they might not be able to get things like roof sealer in the future, and should be doing these things now... while they still can.

  • Funny you should say that. Lately, every home project i have been doing and need to buy supplies, i pick up extra if i need to do it again in the future - but this way don't have to worry about if the product is available in the future, or if I have the money to buy it in the future. I went out to get a couple rolls of duct tape and wound up buying 50 rolls!! Can never have enough!!

  • yay for wood gas!!

  • You should definitely paint those walls with a red ochre paint (Google: "How to make red ochre paint").

  • looked it up interesting

  • excellent video homesteadacres, that should help to seal up your metal roof, also there is another product called elastomeric roof coating which drys into a rubber skin which it will allow it to expand and contract in all types of weather and not crack. nice job.

  • thanks

  • 1 star for doing a good job

2 stars for not falling off the roof

3 stars for falling off the roof

4 stars if bones are popping out of the skin

5 stars for not feeling your legs

  • i will keep that in mind for the next one lol cheers buddy

  • We used it before to seal the roof on our '65 Little Gem trailer used for camping/guests. It worked good messy but good.

  • how long did it last?

  • should be good for 2-3yrs, then just touchups in problem areas

  • i give you 5stars if you do backflip from that roof :D

    just kidding.

  • lol i almost did sliped on a bit of sealent

  • how many coat do you have to do

  • I did one thick coat and there was one leak still i will go up with a paint bruch to finsh it if your just wanting to clean it up you can spread it thiner
