  • Why Kirk???

  • kirk hammet does good job in this

  • 16 rappers got jealous

  • my camal name is dhuux knaan flow

  • Respect ! Brother !

    From Maldives.

  • pinki pie NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • let me introduce me, i dont gotta pack due to the fact i,m africa,s rap bruce lee, plus they,ve been trying to shoot me since two feet, so i,m never scared you can youtube me.

where i,m from they will pull your card mister, you aint hard mister, i was initiated to manhood at 13 and it wasnt a barmitzvah,

i,ll break a bottle on you like a bad bartender,

let my star venture out, i got war in me so let me vent it out............

  • Came here because of Pinkie Pie, but this is a great song.

  • K'naa, I don't know if this matters but he never done drugs and yet his lyrics are so real. Goes to show drugs or no drugs, in this rap game industry you can be who you are and yet still maintain such realness.

  • he sounds like eminem at the beginning

  • @jhayden95 Eminem doesnt have shit on Knaan.

  • dude this is depper then the grand canyon from a spacestation

  • the 15 dislikes are just jealous rappers

  • @Carnationess true

  • I found this song because of the Kirk Hammet version that got airplay, but , this cat is DEEP.

  • Basically, any rapper who sings about growing up in the ultimate ghetto and having an impossible childhood, I feel for them. But nobody had it more real than this guy.

  • @rainbowmuppet dude you got that right

  • @purrplelove90 he jus got 1 a them voices that hooks you in

  • @rainbowmuppet i was born and grew up in the same neighbourhood (wardiigley moghdishu city) as knaan and it was bad but not as bad as everybody thinks, i still have good memories, wierd thing is despite all the dificulty people generally seem happy

  • @rainbowmuppet dont get much more ghetto than africa.

  • Comment removed

  • Ghostwriters by Cla :)

  • The naan bread with the k.. is good.

  • YES! This is where rap is at!

  • i thas really kirk hammes, who plays the guitar?

  • @vBlackVFX That's in the version off the Troubadour album. Kind of confusing.

  • @vBlackVFX yep Kirk Hammet

  • I love that K'naan doesn't have any tracks bragging about all the money and cars and shit he has or that he grew up in the ghetto of Detroit or Chicago or NYC or whatever. He grew up in an actual war zone: Mogadishu, during the Somali Civil War. Talk about a rough neighborhood to come up in.

  • what's with the arguing?

islam is a religion of peace, but people get the wrong idea just because of the extremists.

  • SOMALIANS RULES ;)

  • Kirk isn't playing on this.

  • hi

  • ...Pinkie Pie brought me here.

    im sorry.

  • @OgreCakes

She brought you here too? Must be breakin' dat 4th wall again.

  • @OgreCakes Eeyup

  • the man

  • Kirk Hammet on guitar, crazy I know but some of his best work.

  • @7ManUnitedSean2011

When did you hit anyone last? People like you look brave and daring seating behind their computers acting anonymously. Reading the trash you are posting it is not hard for someone to figure out the type of a person that you are; you are a coward, indecisive, ignorant, smelly, trash and a scam. How do you like that?

  • i kind of like this version better than the other one. like the other one was sick for the guitar solo and the energy and what not, knaan is so much more angry with this one.... and its AWESOME

  • @SuperMrrook the one with the guitar was an amazng solo!

  • @SuperMrrook Fuck yeah! I love it when he yells!

  • love this song soooooo much

  • KIRK HAMMETT!!!!!

  • This guy maybe the only honest rapper alive. and hes Dope too.

  • That thing about building the castle and not being able to live in it and just hearing lip glosses purses and jerkin off in some heavily funded songs today I can so relate to. Pain in the game, I love K'naan, real artist <3

  • We got numbers on 15 people

  • @MrRenniemihaka You like 'niggas' who.............? You're going to really call someone of the same species and race as you a monkey. How contradictory and ignorant you sound, straight up.

  • @MrRenniemihaka So basically you like that tough, aggresive type of hip hop that is not promoting anyone but the pimps and dealers of our time. Well thats cool bro but i think there was more to life than the glory and fame. Knaan focuses on his road to glory and fame.

  • @MrRenniemihaka all im saying is this guy aint my type of Black i dont want to hear about Somalian shit coudnt give a f@#k about whos doing wat to whom who cares they all muslim scumbags anyways! i like my rap a lil gangsta with a few bitches and hos thrown in. thats all.

  • @MrRenniemihaka you are the dumbest person on earth actually it's people like you who are making the world a worst place to live you represent all what is wrong with the world i don4t know how old are you i just hope you grew up and you change your way thinking and you get more human cuz right now YOU ARE THE ANIMAL

  • @MrRenniemihaka only people who like this shit are Somalians and White people. Real thug nighas like me dont give a fuck

  • @MrRenniemihaka you must be trollin. there is no way that any human being is that stupid.

  • @MrRenniemihaka I actually live in the 'hood' which is know as South Jamaica,Queens and I actually love this music more than any Lil Wayne shit which I recently deleted to make space for my favorite rap artist (K'naan) and I'm black its just a matter of preference so just chill and don't come to his music and troll for no reason its not necessary

  • @MrRenniemihaka , k`naan was born in most dangerous city in the world , i bet your thug rappers will not stay alive and survive in moqadhisho for one hour ... k`naan is child of war so who`s the real thug?

  • @keysi07 and? its dangerous cause they got no law n order them monkeys are fuckin nuts! hes just a q tip sounding wannabee and hes wack.

  • @MrRenniemihaka wat the fuck...monkeys at u face...remember u got chased out of africa coz u too primitive

  • @alostchild1 go the fuck away

  • @MrRenniemihaka Wats wrong with Islam?

  • @Ifeakamusic Have you read the fucking Qu'ran?

  • @Ifeakamusic "O mankind! We have created you from male and female and have made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Indeed the most noblest of you with Allaah is the one who has the most taqwaa (God consciousness) ."-- The Quran

People find it repugnant that Islam would teach its adherents an abhorrent perspective. Supremacist like him abhor freedom, they're especially pissed at Islam's appeal and growth around the world despite the media witch hunt against Islam.

  • @kusari86 "Let us create man in our own image..." Geneses 1:26. " O mankind! We have created you from male and female and have made you into nations and tribes..." There is a beautiful truth in these statements that few ever take time to study.

  • Anyone else happy that it took 4 months for this song to get 3 more dislikes?

  • Damn! K'naan is real. First of sending people to somalia is just going to result in more traumatised people. This person talking about pennyslyvania man get real. People don't die everyday for lack of nourishment, medicine and because of dum ass rebels killing anyone they see. Lets add a drought to that too. And all you other people boasting about seriously it's nothing to be proud of man. I was born 97 abrouad and to this day i haven't been to Somalia. Nothing to be proud of. Stop this nonsense

  • @SecretWarriorGirl I Agree I Was Born In Holland & My Mum Never Took Me To Somalia Because It Was Too Dangerous I Never Saw My Grandad Because Of Those Dumb Ass Rebels

  • @MACAS0681 I know what u sayin'...your meaning trancends the language u use to convey it...

  • Where the fuck is 4:20

  • its not even a song i like it but ur kinda just talking "loudly" half the time

  • i miss this k'naan....the crazy one

  • This song should of been 1 second shorter!

  • @SeanstaThaMonsta comon man.... pennsylvania? home of the choclote chip factory thing eh

  • @TimedSell Hershey, PA :P

  • This is one of his best songs he has. Its waaay deep and is just amazing.

  • @JezKJohnsonJnR I knew they were Somalian because they are very proud of their flags and my point still stands, if they moved over to here after at least a few years in Somalia (which judging by their English is the understatement of the century) and they are lazy dicks, then I am going to assume(something you should do less of as I never said anything about sending someone to a nationality, you made that up)that sending people to Somalia is a bad idea, as they also, will likely return as dicks.

  • eminem, jayz, dr dre, ti, kanye, kid cudi, drake, lil wayne, wiz kahlifa, dj khaled, 50cent, niki minaj, tupac, biggie smalls got jealous

  • got give him that

    used to listen to eminem

but k'naan is on some other shit

  • he sounds a bit like eminiem in this song

  • dis version is well better than the other

  • I like this version way more than his new one, maybe cuz im an old fan or maybe just because this one speaks more to everyone.

  • wow...NICE! and he sounds like charles hamilton a bit btw

  • If this song was the original, then now I finally get at least one more part of it--when he's saying "I still gotta come to practice", he's saying just what Iverson had to say in 2002...you can never sit still, once you're known...

The best thing I liked about his performance on 'Austin City Limits' on public television was his comments about how he was raised in an artistic family.

Troubadour came from that, he said.

(The Iverson video is on Youtube as well)

  • K'Naan is frikkin awesome...never bought ANY music in YEARS, and NEVER got into ANY hiphop...but, now this is sheer artistry (he says so right in the song)...so, when I saw this miraculous phenom on, of all places--Public TV--I went out and ORDERED Troubadour...unbelievable.

AND his live show (paired with Mos'Def) brought life to even stale ol' public TV...wow.

thanks for this version, I finally 'get it', since I can hear his lyrics better...next post.

  • good for you mate. rise above it

  • This guy sounds like eminem when he rapped slow

  • @nhdarling2 Haha you're right, but in my opinion K'naan is better than Eminem

  • k'naan is my favourita artist its the best!!!

  • 12 people got jealous

  • @hehassquaids well its 15 now

  • good things don't come to those who wait, but it do come to those who go an get it them selves. don't let the world do everything for u, they only gonna let u down.

uu want something done do it ur self

  • "I come from the most dangerous city in the universe, your likely to get shot at birth" Sad but true, Mogadishu<33 K'naan<333

  • @gridlock28

    I agree with You

  • A rapper that can also sing well? what a bamf.

  • he always raps about the truth

  • his voice sounds so much better on his later stuff like this,

  • @Akreigku this is one of his earlier songs. he made a new version for his newer album but this is the original

  • Perfect rix of rockish beat and rap

  • k naan is in a league if his own... his puts a much need dept in rap music

    Much Respect

  • man sad how our world today thinks wakka flocka is a good rapper and not let k naan get some fame

  • Feb 8th '11

  • K'naan Ft. Lupe??maybe Kid Cudi

  • @jjsmallz020 dreams don't happen.

  • can we all just take a moment and be grateful for this man and his capacity and willingness to tear out his soul and put it in music! thank goodness. imagine if he just kept it in?

  • @rashedly

I think he would explode, if keeps it in:)

  • Knaan>lil wayne Biggie Snoop Dawg Drake Wiz Eminem

  • @beastballa38 common...not eminem...

  • Love this guy <3

  • i got an amazing way to stop those ppl who are in drugs and are gangster to turn nice and stop doin dat shit is by sendin them to somalia thumbs up if u get what im sayin

  • @MACASO681 i completely agree man. 100%

  • @MACASO681

    I AGREE WITH YOU!!!!

  • @MACASO681 im wit u

  • @MACASO681 seriously, fucking gangs don't know what the fuck they are doing.

  • @MACASO681 I agree with you 100%. I've been saying that for the longest time. You dont even know! lol

  • @MACASO681 What would the purpose of that be? I see Somalians everyday on the way to work and all they do is stand outside shops and act hard, until someone hits them back, then they fuck off somewhere else. Are you suggesting that this would be good.

  • @MACASO681 HURR HURR SEND THEM BACK TO AFRICA.

    fucking racist asshole.

  • @ripzerskins i donr think u get it, b4 u star saying im racist im black, so theres tht. if someone is acting hard and shit and it aint real, send they fake ass to somalia and they will see real hard niggas tht will kill u on the fucking spot. its to teach motherfuckers a lesson, it doesnt matter wut race they r, just how they act.

  • @MACASO681 somalia isnt half as bad as pennsylvania

  • @SeanstaThaMonsta WTF, u were joking right? do u no anything about the civil wars in somalia?

  • @MACASO681 Actually the majority gets worse `after´ they return.

  • @MACASO681 to turn them nice and stop doin dat shit? grow up.

  • @HateMeS4L im sorry but seems like a lot of people agree with me cuz they know what im saying.

  • @HateMeS4L he's saying that when they see the hard life and misery over in Somalia they will realize and appreciate what they have, thus turning them "nice" or at least appreciative toward what they have here like FREEDOM!

  • @MACASO681 if you care to read this for my opinion(you dont have to) sending gangsters there.. sure. But people who do drugs arnt necesarily bad people. They just make a decision to do a certain substance. Sending them to somalia would only continue the suffering. They should get help where they rest.

  • This ish is real. Proper.

  • God I'm so happy some real talent popped up. I remember when he was unsigned and had a bunch of his stuff on CBC radio 3 website.

  • this reminds me of SUMMMMMMMMMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 11 raps got jealous, oh wait..

  • To anyone who says his first language was English - type in on youtube "Knaan BET awards cypher" and listen to his freestyle. Whatever african language he speaks, he speaks it WAAAAAYYYYY more fluent than English in that song.

  • @HipHopKid3496 IT WAS SOMALI LANGUAGE, WE CALL IT AF SOOMAALI. SOMALIA IS IN EAST AFRICA SIR THE ONLY PEOPLE WITH ONE LANGUAGE AND ONE RELIGION.

  • I like this version better

  • this has way too little views

  • @1337itup

K'naan was born in Somalia and he spent his childhood in Mogadishu dude

  • @Ch33s3M6n

who doesn't know that k'naan was born in Somalia...

  • @MarijuanDon09 it sounded like you said in earlier comments that k'naan was born in canda but i guess i misread.

  • @1337itup k'naan moved to canada when he was 13 years old

  • @1337itup His first language was not English because he didn't leave Somalia till he was 13

  • @1337itup your stupid lsten to his music he was a child soldier in somalia he moved to canada and got citencenship here use your brain dumby

  • @1337itup Etobicoke is not the richest part of Toronto. And he was not born or raised in Toronto. He's only lived there for a few years.

  • @1337itup your wrong. he was born in somalia. and he started teaching himself english when he moved there with his family when he was thirteen. I think you should educate yourself some more before you make statements that are wrong.

  • @1337itup are u fuckin touched homeboys from rexdale where the fuck are you from

  • @1337itup LOL @ "richest part of Toronto,Etobicoke" he was rasied in rexdale def not the richest part of toronto
