Yes i love the 84hp dual piston engine, it hin it much better in power then the 1200ccGS,f i went both way up and down and down and up this bike is perfect for me the most perfect bike i can get next, i cant wait to own mine and go into philly or new york city or Boston or Califorina, they do not state it is a dirtbike they always say it for tourin.
Taht bike is awesome, that th one biek you want for all times, the power on it is amazing it goes 120mph and can cary 1000lbs of stuff, and peoplle buy them to either ride as a dirbike or ride as a really off road tour bike, i was looking at KTM and said why am i looking for a 532KTM or 690 bmw meets all my needs and it a little faster and better for touring then a straight dirtbike
@flightestman It's def not a dirtbike. You wouldn't want to hit ANY jumps on that thing. It's cool if you need to pass through a flat field every now and then, otherwise it's pretty pointless.
True, that it's not a dirt bike like a G450X or any other Enduro you might take into the gravel pit, but for those places you've seen it's ok I guess.
The only thing I don't like about the bike is that the front suspension seems pretty soft. It dives forward quite a bit when you are stopping quickly, which can be a little disconcerting while standing.
i was racing in a open class on night for fun and when i leaned forward to strech my back i saw a guy on one of these bikes, to my surprise he came 8th out of 16 guys
I have 2 BMWs but the 1200GS and 800GS and 650GS are too big and heavy for serious off road use. If you dropped a 1200 on a hillside and had to pick it up 2 or 3 times - your heart would explode. I have a DRZ-400 for off road and sometimes I wish it was a 250. I like the BMW 450 but it's expensive for a bike that you are going to run through mud and drop. My last BMW rear brake peddle that I replaced cost $155.00 plus tax. Just imagine what a aftermarket exhaust cost for this garage queen.

@DeBalaguer Fair enough, i haven't ridden this bike i have simply read a shit-ton about it(trying to decided between it and a used 640 adv for my future travels). Be glad you do ride it cause im very jealous:)
@DeBalaguer Id say its meant to go offroad but still is a travel enduro, this bike isn't meant to be handled harshly like a true enduro and is road bias(simply less so then the 1200 or 650). I suppose as with most arguments this is a matter of definition. I would personally consider a travel enduro to be anything from a f650 GS to a farkled out KTM 640 adventure or a drz400 adv conversion. This f800 is on the 640adv end of the spectrum but is still a travel enduro(adventure bike).
How long can you drive on a motorway or any standard road before your ass starts to kill? I heard the problem with this bike is comfort which would not be good for a touring bike.
@simon44 I rode this bike a few months back and I can happily say its the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden in my life. Just a shame about the wind buffeting though.
@simon44 Have you rode the 1200? I rode both for 2 hours on a test a couple of weeks ago and my arse was getting numb on the 800 after 2 hours. The 1200 felt like a sofa and could sit on it for weeks. I prefer the fun factor of the 800 but the comfort factor of the 12
@iio58 I rode the 1200 ST but not the 1200 GS. Some idiot polished the seat of the 1200 ST so my arse was sliding all over the kip. It was impossible to sit straight. As for the 1200 GS no i've never had a go. Some day I will but I cant ever see myself buying something so cumbersome so hence not much point in a test ride. I know without actually trying it i'm only guessing its cumbersome but i've been on enough bikes to get a good idea on what to expect.
Nice clip! I have a question for everyone out there. My situation is like this.I love offroad driving and long trips + i have a girlfriend that havent got her own bike or driverslicens so i need to have a bike that we both can go on.. so my bikes at the moment is a Honda XR 650 R -01 and a Triumph Tiger 900 -00. I have been searching one bike that can do all of my driving areas, little bit of forrest driving, pretty much dirt roads and many hour on a long trip somewhere..Is this the bike for me?
@lincken666 From what iv read(and my experience is limited to that) it can go two up but inst particularly comfortable for the passenger. You never know till you try it out but i would otherwise suggest the 1200gs adv or the suzuki V-Storm 650(before you discount this one do some research online at people how have modified them for offroad use, i haven't heard a bad thing about this bike on adv rider . com or elsewhere).
@lincken666 **EDIT TO ABOVE POST** Also the V-storm has a starting price about half that of the 1200gs Adv and with about 1000-2000$ worth of mods(namely suspension, tires, and protection) can be made as offroad worthy as the 1200 although not as much as the f800. Try out the 800 and V-storm and the 1200 adv and see which one you like best since they all are fairly different. Also be sure to check out used bikes as you can often save10-20% buying a year old compared to new.
Actually, it is a dirt bike, but sure, its not a full blood bush basher. I rode one a few weeks ago. A great all rounder. Shame it costs so much here in OZ.
this is NOT a dirt bike, its a dual-purpose, is like an SUV, something you can drive on the city, roads, highways, and it will be very comfortable anywhere, and if yoy have ever driven a bmw gs before you will know, they don´t feel heavy at all
@B3T0516 you are right it's not. in europe and especially germany these bike are very common. we call this typ of bike's "reiseenduro" = travel-enduro. these bike's are made for long distance traveling onroad and offroad, but not for heavy terrain. the most common "reiseenduro's" in germany are BMW's hole GS-series, Honda transalp, Africa Twin, Suzuki V-Strom, KTM 950 Adventure, Triumpg Tiger etc.... almost every company is selling reiseenduro's in europe! even ducati
@Ljub001 its useless to explain to these ppl.. some are so narrow and single minded that when you say dirt bike.. all that comes to their mind are what they see on youtube... the 125s,200s,250s,400s..

it fricken sucks it looks like there not even riding it during the video forget this dirt bikes way better they sound like crap u coulddnt crash it cuz u would have to buy a new fender if it broke and it would cost like 200 dollars if u crash a dirt bike u coul buy all new plstic for like 150
you are completely ignorant on what the purpose of this bike is. And if you do manage to crash it and break the fender. the fender is the least of your worries. You suck. dont comment again.
You are actually right about the cost of a new fender. Really, you would probably be looking at about 250 or 300 for the fender replacement, whereas you could replace every piece of plastic on a cheap dirt bike for 150 bucks. But it's a BMW. They are premium bikes. If you can't afford them, you shouldn't choose to ride them.
i just rode the gsxr1000 from my father and its a really great bike! BUT i would suggest you to get 600 because the 1000 just have too much power!! if you want a bike where you have to hit the gas sometimes then take a 600 cause with the 1000 youll propably never (except of freeways etc.) get the chance to really use the power. and in the corners you can easily hit it too hard so the bike drifts away!after riding it i knew that the next bike i get will be a R6.. i think it really has enoug power
Its not sold as a dirt bike you dumbasses.

BMW bikes are not so good. You can even see how weak the suspension is, just as he says that it does a pretty good job...
Maxpakts 2 years ago
Not sure what you want from the bike here man.
It's a 185.0 kg (407.9 pounds) bike, a "Pretty good job." on the suspension sounds bloody great, to be honest.
