@123IOWNALL321 Its a RULE. In order to have any type of event in the city, you need to file for a PERMIT. Its an easy process that everyone follows. Its in place so that multiple organizations dont just start randomly using public ways. It also has a deposit feel attached so that in the event that damage happens to private or public property, it gets paid for. The occupy movement NEVER paid for a permit or a deposit for damages. I have no idea how this area will be fixed without proper funds.

When you factor in all the people passing by, whether they are for or against such a form of expression, it is changing the way people go about their daily lives; they are forced to question what these people are doing and what they are trying to accomplish. Even the most anti occupy person may still ask themselves: What is wrong with our government? What is wrong with our form of capitalism? And then they may look for for a better way.

@subg88 A decent chunk of the people protesting (my friends included) are college students with mountains of debt and low-paying part-time jobs. Hence the nice camping gear surprised me.

When you factor in all the people passing by, whether they are for or against such a form of expression, it is changing the way people go about their daily lives; they are forced to question what these people are doing and what they are trying to accomplish. Even the most anti occupy person may still ask themselves: What is wrong with our government? What is wrong with our form of capitalism? And then they may look for for a better way.

@thePolyScientist i agree that protest is a vital part of our country. questioning things is good. however, any awareness the protesters may pass on to others is negated when they use reactionary, violent tactics, utilize hate speech, sell drugs, and dont bathe (thats what I've seen down by me in NY). there's definitely value in protest, but it appears that most of the positives are being lost due to all the nonsense thats being perpetrated by those committed to mayhem, anarchy or hate.

I never said that I didn't support the movement, I just think that the money and time could be channeled more effectively. There's a lot of passion here ... just not so much with implementing it.

Why would a company flush with money from all the tax breaks it gets, create more jobs if there isn't any demand for their product and services? They won't, and that's why tax breaks don't work, haven't worked, and history proves it..if not simply a LITTLE common sense about how an economy works. no demand=no jobs.
