Acts 2 in context states that the Jews Peter was addressing were convicted, and distressed, over having killed the Messiah, hence, "What shall we do?" And Peter told them repent of what you have done.
Today we repent over who Jesus is: a Savior we need.
God doesn't count sins against man (2Cor5:19). Repentance today is to BELIEVE this.
@gore53 When I referred to Acts I was peeping that myself and had a feeling where you were going. I get where you're coming from, not quite seeing it the same way, but recognizing you're not coming from mars. With that said, it is so great to have a conversation with a believer on here that doesn't kick dust on our faith. Too many believers are on here arguing and having verbal street fights as if the Spirit of God has any part in it and it is bad for the church. We are brothers indeed!

That's a very nice of you to give the money to the poor. Remember, that the missions also are important. For example, HeartCry Missionary uses money for that, but I'm pretty sure they also give to the poor. Haven't asked though, but I have no doubt that they wouldn't give.

When God saves, He finds us as His children in a pool of our own vomit, wipes us off, and calls us His own. God saved me from myself. I thought I was a Christian, but I was a pervert and an addict. @fedja17 : Amen, thing was at the same time i wanted to get to know God though, through witchcraft I thought it was the way. I remember casting a spell and giving myself up to the God's and Godess'es and after I did that I felt I was in chains. I cant explain what happened and how I managed to be saved, I think I did get visions in dreams, but it was a long BATTEL between me and God when I began going to church, and when I "accepted Christ"(but he saved me and got me to repent a few years later)

Christ was knocking on my heart all my life, but I turned away, i turned to music. But Christ even touched me there. He want's to touch everyones heart, because we are all his children.

@understandingself While I see how that can be true with some people. There are two ways for that to be possible. 1. God has decided to give them more faith to show what he can do with anyone. 2. While in some cases the person understand there sin more than most and it can be accompanied by a gracious attitude. The bible states its from the Holy Spirit either way.
@understandingself That is not what he is saying he was an alcoholic most people in there early 20's like Paul was would be considered an alcoholic there is no extra wretchedness in him than the person down the street. Paul is saying he understands his sins not in full I don't think anyone can do that. But regardless who you are you need to understand your sin and you DO NOT deserve to be saved yet the Christian was saved anyways. A growing Christian will understand there sin more and more.

Although your comment had nothing important to say I could not help but analyze the last two words. After leaving a comment full of profanity you decide to say "God Bless". You my dear friend must work on your own relationship with Jesus before trying to "bless" others, also my "brothers" and sisters for that matter are those that love, live, respect, and preach the true gospel as does Brother Paul. Salvation can only happen through the shedding of blood, the elect of God were written in the book of life before the earth was created they can never be removed, if God chose you then you will share eternal life with the saints, it is the work of faith that Jesus did, only his will not ours that gives us salvation, there is nothing we can do to receive this gift of salvation unless the father draws you to cry out for mercy, only a remnant of people will be saved out of billions born.

@MrDen312 Thanks for your respectful attitude. If we both believe Jesus died in our place, we are brothers. I'll toss this out, but ask God for illumination. Acts 2 in context states that the Jews Peter was addressing were convicted, and distressed, over having killed the Messiah, hence, "What shall we do?" And Peter told them repent of what you have done.
Today we repent over who Jesus is: a Savior we need.
God doesn't count sins against man (2Cor5:19). Repentance today is to BELIEVE this.

I get where you're coming from, not quite seeing it the same way, but recognizing you're not coming from mars. With that said, it is so great to have a conversation with a believer on here that doesn't kick dust on our faith. Too many believers are on here arguing and having verbal street fights as if the Spirit of God has any part in it and it is bad for the church. We are brothers indeed!

Babies learn by observation, not by learning lessons. Lessons are for toddlers and older.

@fedja17 : Amen, thing was at the same time i wanted to get to know God though, through witchcraft I thought it was the way. I remember casting a spell and giving myself up to the God's and Godess'es and after I did that I felt I was in chains. I cant explain what happened and how I managed to be saved, I think I did get visions in dreams, but it was a long BATTEL between me and God when I began going to church, and when I "accepted Christ"(but he saved me and got me to repent a few years later)

That was 8 years ago, when I was 16. My folks are atheists i think. He never stoped working on me. I see everything he did for me in my life up until now. @Savvygirl22 repenting everyday, i am far from perfecting, there is sin that i am still caught in and it is very difficult to over come, i keep sinning the same sin over and over but with Christ I can over come that sin and be free of it, I could keep on talking and talking but I am very young in this spiritual wisdom, I am only 17, I accepted Christ a few months ago, through his Grace, without it, I used to go to church before but i didnt take it seriously, started doing drugs and everything

Christ was knocking on my heart all my life, but I turned away, i turned to music. But Christ even touched me there. He want's to touch everyones heart, because we are all his children.

@understandingself While I see how that can be true with some people. There are two ways for that to be possible. 1. God has decided to give them more faith to show what he can do with anyone. 2. While in some cases the person understand there sin more than most and it can be accompanied by a gracious attitude. The bible states its from the Holy Spirit either way.

@understandingself That is not what he is saying he was an alcoholic most people in there early 20's like Paul was would be considered an alcoholic there is no extra wretchedness in him than the person down the street. Paul is saying he understands his sins not in full I don't think anyone can do that. But regardless who you are you need to understand your sin and you DO NOT deserve to be saved yet the Christian was saved anyways. A growing Christian will understand there sin more and more.

Salvation can only happen through the shedding of blood, the elect of God were written in the book of life before the earth was created they can never be removed, if God chose you then you will share eternal life with the saints, it is the work of faith that Jesus did, only his will not ours that gives us salvation, there is nothing we can do to receive this gift of salvation unless the father draws you to cry out for mercy, only a remnant of people will be saved out of billions born.

I am sure that this mans pain comes from more than being a drunk, there are a lot of sins connected with alcoholism and not just the sin of being a drunk, this mans pain is real and to go on about what his other sins were as a result from being drunk where just to painful to reveal in his confession it is no ones business but the Lords, when we point our finger there is always three pointing back, no one can understand the love of God until you come to that place when your will becomes smashed.
