  • this just reminds of "thats what i get"

  • it has a nice beat, and its soooo eighties!!! :) lol

  • Is it wrong of me to like this?:O

  • @MrRapture1988... Ummm, you meant "womb" right? Did you come out of her womb or out of her wound? There is a slight difference between the two. Just sayin.

  • @taryndactylable my bad thanks!

  • @taryndactylable my bad thanks!

  • I remember being shocked and dismayed when I first heard this. I blamed it on the evil influence of TVT. I think most of us who lived through 80s synth pop don't like to be reminded. It conjures up images of 80s clothes and hair, (Shudder)

  • this song brings me joy and a tear knowing it was made about two decades ago

  • i wouldnt mind dancing to this >_>

  • i remember listening to this coming out of my moms wound, ah good times!!

  • @MrRapture1988 I hope she healed. ;D

  • Purest feeling represents what NIN would have sounded like (which would have been a very brief tenure) if the industry had to molded Reznor's image into the Pretty Hate Machine they knew would sell. Reznor learned much about the business, and he's shown that--although a very capable musician--his real talent is as a businessman who understands what sells his product.

And yes nintards, I understand "businessman" is not the image Reznor has presented to you. Grow up.

  • @etherealstill *if the industry had to NOT molded Reznor's image

  • @etherealstill I've been a nin fan since I discovered them around '95 but I've never been a Trent stalker. It's hard to tell with any musician how much of what they do and say is marketing and how much of it is real. Doesn't matter though, I'll always love the pre 2001 music trent has created. i don't really care about him as a person. then again that is why most nin fans make me want to vomit

  • @etherealstill you make a good point. Although Rezzie does seem a lot more comfortable letting the businessman in him show now that he's middle-aged. I.e. his work with David Fincher, producing Niggy Tardust, etc.

Also: I for one prefer the term "NINny"

  • i really like this, emotional synth pop, sometimes I wish Trent had made Pretty Hate Machine a bit more camp, this is what Pretty Hate Machine was originally going to sound like. its a synth pop record at heart with agressive overtones. This is probably how PHM machine would have sounded if it came out a few years earlier, this sounds more 1984 than 1988.

  • This reminds me of a song that would be on GTA vice city lol

  • Love it , reminds me of a cituation I was in with a certain someone

  • Even though it's unreleased and may not be the greatest NIN song but it's still Boss cause it's NIN ^__^

  • Trent Reznor feat. Phil Collins?

  • Comment removed

  • SUPER MARIO KART!!!! <3

Oh '88 Trent.. how I love thee.

  • This has always been my favorite NIN song. the purest feeling album (What this is off of) was my favorite for a long time. This song, and the song purest feeling where both really great. The rest of the tracks on the album eventually got released on other albums. I dont think this album got around the us much, but in TX and lousiana it was easy to find through he 90s

  • OMG...it's sooo cheesy 80's.

  • Wow NIN fan since 91 and have never heard this I knew he played keys with Slam Bambo, but wow, its kind of cool, and I did nostalgically chuckle alittle at 0.59 . When it ends I think I need to back up and hear Somewhat Damaged again.

  • this song is soooooooooo cute :3

  • depeche nails! ha ha i love it

  • The 80s holds a very special place in my heart. Great decade to grow up in, maybe even the best decade a kid could possibly grow up in.

  • The chords at about a minute in remind me of NBA Jam on the SNES <.<

  • Why wasn't I born until 1994?

  • @KedViper omg. same exact problem here lol. ugh we missed the 80s and most of the 90s too.

  • lol mario paint

  • awesome!

  • Wow... I LOVE this song.

  • heheheh... there is a reason this is an "UNRELEASED" song. :)

  • haha...somehow this reminds me of phil collins...i still quite like it tho

  • Some of you complain, that it sounds like "Pretty Hate Machine". Well, I am NIN fan, and I must say - PHM is my favorite NIN album! Yeah, it's totally different than other albums, but that's ok. Actually, it's one of the reasons why i like it so much ;)

About song - it's very, very cool! I like the refrain.

  • Like this. This whole unreleased thing is so sweet

  • Oh, i absolutely love it.

i DON'T care what any of you

fuckheads say this song is amazing!

    :D

it should've been on PHM <3

i mean. it sounds all synthpop like

but the lyrics are purely NIN.

    :)

    -aw

  • Anyone know what movie that is? at 0:11 to 0:24?

  • i thnk it is from some kind of wonderful.

  • thiz iz on that demo verzion ov pretty hate

  • I can't believe that what I feel is finally happening to me.

    make it hurt.

and point the finger at my insecurities.

well I guess I just don't understand about those complexities in your mind.

and I guess I just don't understand why this world seems so unkind.

maybe. maybe just once. I get what's coming.

maybe. maybe just once. I get what's coming to me.

    ...

  • Very synthpop, just as much of the music from PHM was. A little more upbeat than most songs from PHM but still melancholy or at least wistful. I like it.

  • the song reminds me of like the 80s with phil collins...hmmm

  • hhh sususuudio!

  • The music in this song reminds me of mario kart.Like the part at the beginning atleast.

  • It sounds great as a demo and I think it's got radio potential. With today's retro revival It should be properly re-recorded and released as a single. Depeche Nails.

  • Dude...LMAO thats Awesome lol

  • HAHA

  • @HunSavage Trent Reznor should remix it to sound a little more modern (you know, without the synth and all, but same notes) and release it.

  • @KedViper This is perfect... I would not mind him and Mariqueen redoing it a bit though....

  • @nazaxprime I just don't think people would truly take it seriously.

  • @KedViper Well, you make a good point. I feel that "people" should not be a part of what makes a man do what he does... as evidenced by the greatest of the greatest never getting what they deserve in their lifetime. Perhaps that's because the people fear they will get whats coming to them(both "them's" BTW).

I have heard a lot of whining from fanboi's that obviously wish they were Mariqueen, but their disdain and fears are unwarranted. Trent deserves more... This song is really relevant to that.

  • unreleased? your wrong, this is off of purest feeling, an album recorded by trent in 1988, and released in 1994

  • What label released the purest feeling? I had heard that Trent used it as a demo to shop to labels before he was signed to TVT. Let me know if it is available for purchase because I would like to check it out.

  • Early days.

  • Anyone who thinks the guy below me is a DUMMY and shouldn't reproduce for saying that....

    should thumbs up this comment.

  • im adddicted to this fanciful shit!

  • Why Was This Not Released As A Single At Least. It Should Have Been A Single With The Tracks Maybe Just Once, Purest Feeling, And Twist. :) Twist Was The First Ringfinger.

  • yeah Pretty hate machien are my favorit nin cd too !

  • Trent undoubtably needs to get a legal hold of TVT, and publically release these demos; and of course remaster them. "Pretty Hate Machine" still ranks to be my favorite Nine Inch Nails album.

  • What the fuck?!?!?!?

  • damn it feels like I GOT REZ-ROLLED

  • What are you implying this song kicks ass

  • I wouldn't deny for a second that "Pretty Hate Machine" is Reznor's best produced and overall well-structured album to date. However, psychologically and emotionally his most inisghtful work to date is "The Fragile"; and it's his most musically diverse/wide ranged regarding it's sound. This does sound like "Sin" a tad bit.

  • Anyone else think this song has some parts that sound like the song "Sin" by NIN? Espically the drum beat. It's even the the same bar length in it's change ups from verse to chorus and whatnot.

  • The rhythm and the lenght are the same, but this is only a question of style. The sounds are different: they are more similar to Head Like A Hole's ones

  • Unfortunately Trent can't publically release this, TVT "managed to fuck themselves up and go bankrupt" and can't release this. However if Reznor stated if he ever legally go his hands on the album he would remaster it and potentially release a deluxe edition consisting of tracks recorded during these sessions; ideally like "The Downward Spiral".

  • HAHA sounds like the synth that van halen uses in "jump"

  • Cool.I love NIN.

  • i have this song on album "purest feeling"

  • omg ive wanted that so bad. can you tell me where you got it?

  • Does anybod chuckle when they hear the synth sounds that come in at 0:59? They just sound so....odd, and so 80's....

  • @TheDivineVessel lol mario paint

  • @TheDivineVessel Yeah.

  • @TheDivineVessel yea it kinda reminds me of the original mario kart main screen

  • @TheDivineVessel Thats Trent for you....

  • Its too 80s for me lyrics aren't bad though,

  • The lyrics are pretty good, maybe if Trent had just changed up the instrumental section it could have been album worthy

  • Not a bad song, i think it should have been on Pretty Hate Machine......

  • this is us playing live at the right track studio in cleveland, rehearsing for the up coming tour with Skinny puppy. .. we recorded it.

i was the drummer at the time r musarra

  • It's TOO 80s and upbeat in style for NIN. Very much an adolescent Trent, I guess.

  • :| Never knew about this song until now. Definitely HUA.

  • haha yeah he was listenin to philly when he made this

  • kinda has a phil collins feel to it

  • This is the shiat biatch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This song really makes you feel good for some reason!!

  • Great song.

  • this song is great except for the chorus. lol. but i'll forgive it, for the sake of the rest of the track. totally forgot this existed. good sh**.

  • it's so retro

  • This would been a perfect hidden song for pretty hate machine

  • yeah, trent never makes hidden tracks :( I love those

  • tracks 98 and 99 on broken are kinda hidden.

  • not to mention ghosts 37 and 38 which are hidden on the data dvd.

  • 98 and 99 on broken weren't really hidden because they originally came on a separate cd packaged with broken, which they later included on the main disc to save money.

  • still, they were put on track 98 and 99. that is sort of suspicious you have to admit.

  • wait are you serious about ghosts 37/38?

  • yeah. on the data dvd they released with all the multitracks there are two songs that you can piece together to listen to on any music arranging program you know

  • I thought they put it on the same disc 'cause the CD salespeople were taking the small disc out and selling it separately?

  • my favorite song i had the burned cd of this years ago it broke

  • This was originally released on an album called "Purest Feeling" (also another track by the same name; appears on the album). A few pre-pretty hate machine versions of tracks, before the final cut. This album was released in 1988, one year before P.H.M. was finalised. Hence the very retro sound. A good collectors item if you can get one.

  • Purest Feeling isn't an album, it's a demo.

  • It's a demo album, whatever. And it was re-released in the mid 90's. So yeah, it IS an album. Demo's are not issued re-releases. Just because its not on the halo series, doesn't mean its not an ablum. It's pretty much pretty hate machine minus 2 tracks.

I've never heard of a 10 song demo. It's an album that wasn't finished off. The final product was P.H.M. in '89. Therefore it's refered to as a demo, but it IS still an album. it wasn't called "demo". It was an album called "Purest Feeling".

  • As with a lot of trent's music, this song is filled with the emotion of the human experience.... I can relate to this song so much more than I'd like to admit.

  • Awesome, good to hear this, i love how he did the sex dwarf amazing

  • Wow, very 80's.

  • This is oddly endearing.

  • I like it - not every NIN song has to be emotional armageddon...

  • Hes come along way...

These were the sounds of the 80's...

This is NIN you just arent a real NIN fan...

NIN is something you either love or hate...

In this case you people hate it because you dont udnerstand it at all....

  • i had read about his early stuff, but i didnt think i would be fortunate enough to hear any of it, this is pretty cool to hear!

  • this sounds like something that was cut from pretty hate machine.

if anything, it might be the pre-cursor to "This is the only time." the lyrics and tone in singing are very similar.

too poppy for nails. good choice on leaving it off the record.

  • Nice Synthpop sound, but still with angst.

  • Early NIN, like Depeche Mode only a little darker.

  • The pop-like beat makes me feel very happy inside :D

  • ...WTF? Thank god they don't sound like this any longer

  • I actually kinda like The Slip, alot of albums are much worse.

  • keep your shitty comments to urself fag

  • I'll admit The Slip isnt his best work, its no Fragile, but its still dwarfs a large chunk of most albums coming out these days

  • You're a fucking moron. This is old NIN.

  • Shut up. thats the good thing about trent, he just doesnt get worse .

  • LMAO WTF

  • since when did "poppy" make it into the NIN vocab

  • It made it into his body.

  • still very poppy

  • since head like a hole?

    ...or option 30? lol
