Last year when i was in 5th grade my teacher Mr.Young LOVED this song and he would always play this song and whole lot of other songs in the middle of class!!!!!!!!! He was THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The question is, how can a dozen people dislike this song? Because there is no choreography? B/C the singer isn't cute? Stop looking for the musical solution and begin listening for one, as mass markey media will continue to shove no talent barbie dolls and Bieber look-a-likes at you if you continue to download their crap.
got to open for these guys once and in the middle of singing the bottle let me down i get a tap on the shoulder, look around and its country dick politely asking if he can take the next verse. so i got to sing with him. one of my favourite moments.
Country Dick walked out on the tables at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach, beer in hand, wearing his long leather coat. He swung his legs out from under him crashing onto the tables. He turned over on his side, looked at the beautiful blond sitting there and said, "You and me gotta talk about some serious fuckin" Rolled over to his back, put his beer between his boots and proceeded to lift his legs, managing to pour most of the beer in his mouth. One of my all=time favorite show memories.
Bunch of my brother's friends were really into college radio and I knew about the beat farmers as a teenager. Country Dick died before I got a chance to see them live, it's great to see some good clips floating around of them!
long time OKLAHOMA CITY DJ Mark Shannon died Sat. from long battle with leukemia. I listened to him faithfully his entire career at KRXO. He was so funny and brilliant a man. Every show ended with this song. You are no longer in pain....You're a Happy Boy in God's arms....
man, i always did love this song. the guy steps up and from the looks of it you expect some merle haggard or something, and then this comes out. priceless!
I used to hang out with these guys when they played with Mojo in San Diego...they were a fucking hoot! They were great until they got popular...and they went to Europe on a tour....all downhill after that...
Saw this GREAT band back in the 80's in D.C. at the 930 Club. My future brother-in-law & I carried Country Dick on our shoulders to the back bar to pick up shots of tequila for the rest of the band. After the show we drank with the band & got autographs. Best damn shows I've ever been to!!! The entire band kicked ass!!!! I wish I could see them again!
I have been singing Happy Boy for two days now. and happy to have a sing a long video. Fond rememberances from the mid 80's (as far as I can remember).
I'm sorry, he didn't try to cover this...it was "I Honestly Love You" by Olivia Newton-John, but it sounded like his little dog Spot got hit by a truck....hubba hubba hubba hubba hubba
Saw these guys about 20 years ago and had Country Dick sign our programs (Yes, there were programs!). My date's, he signed "Deeply Yours, Country Dick" Mine, he signed, "Deeply Up Yours." A class act always.
My son has some learning disabilities and struggles with relationships...but we heard this song the other day and now, when he is hurting, we play the song, the kid can't stop from laughing! I love the damn song! :D
@K9Angel77 Ty God, lol and although I am an atheist I'm wicked happy there is something on this god's green earth to Brighton some one's days XD!!!! btw Love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dane is not gone.. I just saw and talk to him a day-a-go.. So your info is wrong.. The man is walking with us.. I'll make sure to tell him that there are some that thinks he is gone
Not Dane, Dan. I believe he is referring to Country Dick Montana, born Daniel McLain according to wiki. An earlier post explained that he died in 1995.
I hope you are right. they remind me a little bit of DR. Hook. Like freaking at the freakers Ball. and if you are sure the show was yp to date, please let us know if they are planning anything. thanks...Rock On MR. Goodnews.
OH God I miss you Dan, my heart was broken when I got the news you were gone. What fun times we had back then!! I nearly fell off the chair when I came across these vids. God bless the Spring Valley Inn, and all the good old days. You will never be forgotten. I remember the night you told me they found the cancer. Damn I just knew you would survive.
I just know you are up there now throwing beers and drinking with Jesus. Rest in Peace Montana Dick, you were one in a billion.
I did several gig with those guys in the early 80s..... What a bunch of drunk idiots. Cuntry Dick was just that. But I hope hes resting in peace. Jerry and the bass player were alright though
Looking back, I thank the musical gods for sending The Beat Farmers to set up shop in my neighborhood bar. I only got to see them about 100 times or so...NOT ENOUGH! MORE DICK! MORE JERRY! MORE BUDDY! MORE ROLLE! And later MORE JOEY! DAMN YOU GUYS ROCK! You are so much more than Happy Boy.
"On November 8, 1995 Country Dick Montana died of a heart attack while performing The Girl I Almost Married, three songs into the set at the Long Horn Club in Whistler, British Columbia"......three days later the surviving members disbanded. Buddy Blue, also an origional member, died April 2, 2006. Sourcing Wikipedia
