  • The question is, how can a dozen people dislike this song? Because there is no choreography? B/C the singer isn't cute? Stop looking for the musical solution and begin listening for one, as mass markey media will continue to shove no talent barbie dolls and Bieber look-a-likes at you if you continue to download their crap.

  • i like America

  • got to open for these guys once and in the middle of singing the bottle let me down i get a tap on the shoulder, look around and its country dick politely asking if he can take the next verse. so i got to sing with him. one of my favourite moments.

  • Country Dick walked out on the tables at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach, beer in hand, wearing his long leather coat. He swung his legs out from under him crashing onto the tables. He turned over on his side, looked at the beautiful blond sitting there and said, "You and me gotta talk about some serious fuckin" Rolled over to his back, put his beer between his boots and proceeded to lift his legs, managing to pour most of the beer in his mouth. One of my all=time favorite show memories.

  • Bunch of my brother's friends were really into college radio and I knew about the beat farmers as a teenager. Country Dick died before I got a chance to see them live, it's great to see some good clips floating around of them!

  • Saw this GREAT band back in the 80's in D.C. at the 930 Club. My future brother-in-law & I carried Country Dick on our shoulders to the back bar to pick up shots of tequila for the rest of the band. After the show we drank with the band & got autographs. Best damn shows I've ever been to!!! The entire band kicked ass!!!! I wish I could see them again!

  • That is awesome! Great idea for any bar!

  • That was about the best spectacle I have ever laid eyes upon.

  • Saw them in a Victorvile dive bar , 19 years ago. Nice guys.

  • Michael Bolton's version just doesn't come close. Azzwhole

  • Michael Bolton? He's attempted to do this song too? what a jerk!

  • I'm sorry, he didn't try to cover this...it was "I Honestly Love You" by Olivia Newton-John, but it sounded like his little dog Spot got hit by a truck....hubba hubba hubba hubba hubba

  • Yeah this was the theme song when I was in high school. Many a party a bunch of drunks singing this song. lol

  • Saw these guys about 20 years ago and had Country Dick sign our programs (Yes, there were programs!). My date's, he signed "Deeply Yours, Country Dick" Mine, he signed, "Deeply Up Yours." A class act always.

  • I saw them twice in the late 80s...and bought Dick a beer,,,Budweiser! He signed my program, "Stay Outta Jail, Country Dick". I STILL have it.

They were a real special band. A shame they are gone. RIP Dick and Buddy.

  • Beautiful! I had a chance to see them several times here in San Diego and never did. I really missed out. Enjoy.

  • CLASSIC!

  • First time I heard this song, I was driving on the highway. My eyes teared up so much from laughing I nearly had to pull over.

  • RIP C. Dick M. I had some outstanding times at their shows including some good times with C. Dick M. - drinkin' and BS'n.

  • These guys and Dread Zeppelin were the most fun shows I ever went to. I don't know why more bands don't use humor. It sure makes a show more fun.

  • totally

  • Dane is not gone.. I just saw and talk to him a day-a-go.. So your info is wrong.. The man is walking with us.. I'll make sure to tell him that there are some that thinks he is gone

  • Not Dane, Dan. I believe he is referring to Country Dick Montana, born Daniel McLain according to wiki. An earlier post explained that he died in 1995.

  • are you sure you didn't see a old show?

I hope you are right. they remind me a little bit of DR. Hook. Like freaking at the freakers Ball. and if you are sure the show was yp to date, please let us know if they are planning anything. thanks...Rock On MR. Goodnews.

  • No, that's where you're wrong. See, the thing is: this song is hee-larious.

  • @robfanclub It's stupidly funny and that's why I love it!

  • OH God I miss you Dan, my heart was broken when I got the news you were gone. What fun times we had back then!! I nearly fell off the chair when I came across these vids. God bless the Spring Valley Inn, and all the good old days. You will never be forgotten. I remember the night you told me they found the cancer. Damn I just knew you would survive.

I just know you are up there now throwing beers and drinking with Jesus. Rest in Peace Montana Dick, you were one in a billion.

  • Every Friday @ 3pm, WDVE Pittsburgh would play this to kick off the weekend. I never missed it when I lived there.

  • Still does, I do believe!

  • Do they still play the "There's a lobster loose! Cover yourself with hot butter & carry lemons just in case!" After it?

  • Yeah, that Bill Murray clip, I think so!

  • Put his guts in a bag and put 'em in a drawer, hubba, hubba, hubba, hubba, hubba

  • I did several gig with those guys in the early 80s..... What a bunch of drunk idiots. Cuntry Dick was just that. But I hope hes resting in peace. Jerry and the bass player were alright though

  • Looking back, I thank the musical gods for sending The Beat Farmers to set up shop in my neighborhood bar. I only got to see them about 100 times or so...NOT ENOUGH! MORE DICK! MORE JERRY! MORE BUDDY! MORE ROLLE! And later MORE JOEY! DAMN YOU GUYS ROCK! You are so much more than Happy Boy.

  • "On November 8, 1995 Country Dick Montana died of a heart attack while performing The Girl I Almost Married, three songs into the set at the Long Horn Club in Whistler, British Columbia"......three days later the surviving members disbanded. Buddy Blue, also an origional member, died April 2, 2006. Sourcing Wikipedia
