  • When eurovision song contest was a real contest, real orchestra, native languages, not shitty english-songs (nothing against english language, but it's now way too mainstream) and playbackmusic (and voices)

  • Just out of interest (albeit a morbid one).... How many of the blokes in this video died of Aids?

  • @Loobs666 One died of aids, one of cancer. The rest is alive and kicking.

Source: nl wikipedia org slash wiki slash Dschinghis_Khan

  • @etierik You mean the Dschinghis Khan History page on the offical site of Dschinghis Khan...right?

  • 1:06 Guten Tag, Herr Konzertmeister :D

  • @brabon1 For real? This is very interesting. Do you know the reason why? I mean it`s not that obvious...

  • @Wopeltinger it has a good beat and you can dance to it? lots of secular music has been "borrowed" by jewish musicians, who have made it their own

  • Comment removed

  • @Plexpara its just funny....i dont think anyone knows where the song originates from

  • @Plexpara I think you re a little overreacting. He probably meant that its a funny way to have your song immortalized in places you can t imagine. Chill out, nobody really gives a shit about the nazis anymore...

  • Dsching, Dsching, Dschinghis Khan!

  • east or west germany?

  • @brettsworld99 West, I think.

  • @WubZers but what about the song "moskau"? why would they make that if they were capitalist pigs?

  • @brettsworld99 *sigh* I haven't a clue. All I know is they were representing West Germany.

  • @WubZers :(

  • @brettsworld99 well moskau i belive really wasnt supporting the political views of the russians but yet they were just trying to explain how great of a city moscow is

  • @SombreroKing100 yeah i guess, what ever, personally im a communist but i dont go around yelling at capitalist, calling them names, if you dissagree with me then go ahead, i dont care

  • @brettsworld99 same im american i really dont care about youre political view even if i disagree

  • @SombreroKing100 The song is not really about politics at all. In Germany, Russia holds a certain mystique - as we feel it in Russian folk and classical music: while these may be stereotypes to Russians, they have a certain mythical quality in Germany. This is what this song is about, a feeling, a sense, a story. A Bob Dylan said: you got to see it for what it is and take it for what it's worth... :-)

  • @billabong859 thats not what i said i said that it wasnt

  • @brettsworld99

    west germany

  • Had bout this song in my German lesson today.. Kinda fun xD

  • Er zeugte sieben Kinder in einer Nacht

  • wtf..

  • This is the very essence of Eurovision. Bring it on...

  • This version seems bad to me,the official is better.

  • Talk about a guilty pleasure!

  • WTH is the beginning?

  • prefiero la version japonesa!!!!!!

    momochiiii >_<

  • I guess Europe can count herself lucky that the Third World War did not occur already, as the blockhead Einstein did prophesy once that in the Fourth World War people will fight again with clubs; what means that the Mongols will return and if they see this they will undoubtedly think that those Germans do mock their beloved King Genghis Khan, whom they hold no less dear than the Greeks Alexander the Great; so they might embark on a bloody and devastating campaign of revenge against Europe!

  • @FireEyedMaidOfWar

To begin with, I honestly don't know what you actually intend to say with your comment, but, nevertheless, if the Mongols see this they could start with looking at the lyrics. Cause they are epic and they are not offending Genghis Khan, but they kinda praise him. If you would only know the awesome image of the very first lines "Sie ritten um die Wette mit dem Steppenwind, tausend Mann. Und einer ritt voran, dem folgten alle blind: Dschinghis Khan!" you would know. Believe me!

  • @CazuhLynn: Sounds pretty odd to me; and as you did take some pains do deny that Genghis Khan is mocked here it seems that you did understand at least 50% of my comment; though the part about that blockhead Einstein is of no greater difficulty; as for being epic I suppose you read the Iliad or the Songs of the Nibelungs, as these are epics while the proper word for this modern musicians is pathetic; and your denial is of no avail since praises can be employed for mocking pretty well, too.

  • @CazuhLynn: Just look at Edward II by Christopher Marlowe wherein thediscontented nobles mock the catamite of King Edward with his very titles:

KING EDWARD Will none of you salute my Gaveston?

LANCASTER Salute him? yes. Welcome, Lord Chamberlain!

YOUNG MORTIMER Welcome is the good Earl of Cornwall!

GUY, EARL of WARWICK Welcome, Lord Governor of the Isle of Man!

    PEMBROKE Welcome, Master Secretary!

EDMUND, EARL of KENT Brother, do you hear them?

  • @FireEyedMaidOfWar

Yeah, that's why I said I did not really understand your text. At least, I tried to say that.

Mh, I read both the Iliad and The Songs of Nibelungs since I had Latin and, yeah, I'm German. So there's no way NOT to read the Songs of Nibelungs in school. And I guess, you and I have some different views on the word "epic". I did not mean the type of text but how wonderful the words sound - and their meaning is.

Still, I love this song. And I can't find it mocking in any way.

  • @CazuhLynn: But you are aware that the Iliad was composed in ancient Greek and the Song of the Nibelungs written in medieval German, so Latin is of no use here! While boasting of being German is not recommendable today: Even back in the 19th century Nietzsche said that Bach and Haendel did belong to a stronger race of Germans, which has now died out; and ever since you were conquered by the Americans there seems to be very little left of once warlike Germany, who repulsed even mighty Rome!

  • @CazuhLynn: So I would strongly advise you first to launch a sneak attack upon the fell-lurking American occupation forces and than boast of being German (or speaking Latin); but find out for yourself: Send this video some Mongols and tell them that this is what the Germans think about their beloved Genghis Khan, whom they cherish no less than the Greeks do Alexander the Great; but beware: This could incense them even to a mortal arbitrement.

  • @FireEyedMaidOfWar Also, I'm not interested in any sneak attack. I just said: No, I don't think so.

If you therefore have to pull names like Iliad and Nibelungs, Nietzsche and Haendel, feel free to do that. I'm sure you know a lot, you don't have to proof it. But in my opinion, you are exaggerating for I only wanted to tell you that these lyrics are not about making fun of Genghis Khan. Just in case you didn't know. There was nothing hostile about it. Just some... how do you call it? - fyi.

  • @CazuhLynn: I mean having some motley fools jumping around calling themselves Genghis Khan and performing a song called Genghis Khan is nothing to be ashamed of is it not? And you did refer to them as being epic, what they are not; but you should get used to it that for foreigner the Germans are just folks like Bach, Nietzsche, Hegel, Schiller or Fredrick the Great, just as people think when they talk about the Greeks of Alexander the Great, Homer, Aristotle or Sophocles.

  • @CazuhLynn: While you should consider that many people do not take their statements too serious, but the English language offers no equivalent to the German term of Bierernst in contrast to Ernst; but since you are German you should understand this. By saying that the Mongols could be incited to a campaign of vengeance by this awful disco music I tried to mock it a bit.

  • @FireEyedMaidOfWar You got a little misunderstanding there, I'm afraid. I said the lyrics were epic not the band. I do not know the band, but referred to lyrics only when I wrote that

And hey, I'm glad if foreigners see Bach, Nietzsche etc in us. I thought the image was a little different.

and no, I'm not "bierernst". Maybe I just enjoyed a little discussion without offending words in every second sentence. If you just wanted to mock, I'm now offering a chance to end this with one last comment.

  • @CazuhLynn: But the lyrics are even worse than the musicians! And if you would know the Iliad or The Songs of the Nibelungs you should be aware what epic poetry is about; but I will invoke what Lucan said about Alexander the Great later to elaborate my point a bit; and if you a referring by that little different to Monsieur Hitler and his lackeys, as I am French it would ill beseem me to ascribe him to the Germans since I do not like it if Napoleon is associated with the French; but to Lucan:

  • Macedon he left His home obscure; Athens he despised

The conquest of his sire, and spurred by fate

Through Asia rushed with havoc of mankind,

Plunging his sword through peoples; streams unknown

Ran red with Persian and with Indian blood.

Curse of all earth and thunderbolt of ill

To every nation! On the outer sea

He launched his fleet to sail the ocean wave:

Nor flame nor flood nor sterile Libyan sands

    Stayed back his course, nor Hammon's pathless shoals;

  • Far to the west, where downward slopes the world

He would have led his armies, and the poles

Had compassed, and had drunk the fount of Nile:

But came his latest day; such end alone

Could nature place upon the madman king,

Who jealous in death as when he won the world

His empire with him took, nor left an heir.

@CazuhLynn: Alexander the Great and Genghis Khan were birds of the selfsame feather as Shakespeare would say. So you should see now the difference.

  • @FireEyedMaidOfWar No, but we talked about the Iliad in our Latin lessons and about the Nibelungs in our German lessons. And I did not boast of being German, I just wanted to make clear that it's common in G to talk about that famous piece of G literature. It's you who read all that in a small subordinate clause.

By the way, I have not urgent need to show this vid to Mongols. All I wanted to do is to show you that you might have not understand the words and I disagree about it.

  • @CazuhLynn: Then you must have had strange Latin lessons indeed as normally they tend to focus more on Virgil and Lucan when it comes to epics; and your words do not make sense at all: Either you continue to read both epics ever since you had Latin and this would mean that you kept reading these books for years without finishing it or that there is some obscure connection between the reading of them and having Latin lessons at school; but why are you so afraid to show this video to the Mongols?

  • das waren noch Zeiten ...

    cool ...

  • Germans debasing themselves in a childish and vain attempt to atone for so called crimes of the past. If only they managed to smash Judeo-Bolshevism and stop the enslavement and mass murder of millions of Europeans living under Jewish Communist dictatorship.

  • Exzellent!!!

  • if someone entered eurovision today with this song, everybody would have laughed so hard. But it's still epic. Love it <3
