Fjord Quadrille

i've never ridden one, but i want to.... are they fun to ride? like, what are their temperment? are they hyper like allot of ponies? just wondering.........

@horsesruleguysdrool At least mine wasn't very hyper. He was(I don't own him myself, anymore, so I guess he still is :P ) dosile, a bit lazy, but could be quite feisty, especially in the winter when the weather was cold. But everyone can usually ride them, and they're good with kids ;)

@horsesruleguysdrool Fjords are sooo relaxed. I mean obviously they can have moments(as with any horse) but most are the type of horse that you can do anything on and they won't mind. I ride a gelding (who was a stallion until just last year) and his temperment was always great(even as a stud).

iv done a quadrille on a fjord XD we had 3 other types too...me and the lil fjord got paired with a kicker XD BUT we where the best pair x)

If the red dun fjord as any issues with his back or neck, cutting his mane might be a good idea. Their manes are extremely thick and heavy and can weigh down their necks. Just something to watch for:)

We(or rather the people responsible for him, as he is a school horse) have discussed that matter several times, but as he hasn't had any problems with it this far, we're letting him keep his long mane ;)

@XchickenXchazX Yeah, some of the look good with it, though I prefer it to be cut short in the traditional way, at least the manes that are black in the middle. But this guy still has his long mane, almost four years after this video was shot ;)

Haha, I'm from Norway, so I guess this was the term I found that was closest to the norwegian one. We call it "kvadrilje" no matter how many horses are in it it. But thanks for the notice, now I know until next time ;)

@rollkurisbad it's not a hexdrille, as a hexdrille would require 6 pairs of horses. They are just one pair short of a quadrille. :)

What do you use for saddle ? I'm a Fjord ponies et i don't find a saddle.

For my fjord(one of the fjords in the movie) I used a Wintec allround saddle, but also an old Hubertus allround saddle.

It's a fjord;) He's a red dun fjord, and they have white manes, and this particular one doesn't get his one cut. So he doesn't really look like a fjord, but he is certainly one ;)

Your fjords are darling! I use to have one - he was a blast to ride and would do anything, but as soon as you got off of him he was a jerk. So I just put him away faster. I ride quadrille about 4 or 5 times a week. Thanks for sharing your video.

I'm on the largest Fjord in the first pair (in the beginning). This was at the annual Christmas Show at my barn( I live in Norway)
