She says it so much better in the English dub than in the lame original. I'm sorry but her voice is much more powerful and fierce in the English dub. Hooray for Mercury!! XD
@james16181001 Always wondered that too, but scientifically speaking, it is only hot on the day side. On the night side however, it can actually reach at least -185 below zero or lower since it has no atmosphere to keep it stable like the earth. Besides, I think they were mainly basing her element off of the Chinese Wu Xing Philosophy where the Water element is in alignment with the planet Mercury. All the Inner Scouts are based off this, if you think about it.
LOL!!, I love the British accent Ami makes when saying "ACKWA", I still prefer this over Mercury Ice Storm Blast, but I fucking love the Japanese Version.
@b1njjj95 .......................she wasnt trying to put on an english accent and lol this dont even sound british at all so go get ur ears fixed u dum idiot lol
@Prankster206 DiC Dub. This is when DiC dubbed the last episodes of SM R and tried to improve somewhat. (Originally there were only 65 episodes in syndication. The last 16 or so episodes were dubbed by DiC much later on, and they added a few of the original names, original sound effects such as the crystal locket when transforming).
Sparkling Wide Pressure, I believe is the Japanese name. In the English adaptation, it was primarily called Jupiter Thunderclap Zap, but other names included the original name, Jupiter Thunder Power, Superior Sparkling Thunder, Supreme Thunder Crash, or, on one occasion, "Thunder!" Most likely because there are several similar words that Sparkling Wide Pressure can translate to in English. But when the alternative name was translated in to Japanese it's meaning changed.
No, she didn't saw Ackwa, she said aqua. It's how the word is supposed to be pronounced in real English, but North American english has it pronounced a bit differently. Not bashing, I'm from Canada so it's not usually pronounced like she did it here, but that's the real pronunciation. Also, in the dub, she kind of has an english accent, so it really does fit.
I do miss that signature, ringing "water droplet" sound that kicks off this move (and Merc's other early moves) in the original Japanese -- it's not here.
I know what you mean. All the Inners had that "signature sound". I like how they used them in the 'R' movie at the beginning when Usagi was introducing them.
I love that they kept the original phrase here, Ice Storm Blast just makes me angry. I tend to prefer dub attack names, but they're just so inconsistent with them! Besides, Shine Aqua Illusion sounds pretty. ^_^
I wish I could be Sailor Mercury!

I think this is the only attack where the name of the scout's planet isn't said first.

@AlskaNoelle No. In the english dub, sometimes Uranus and Neptune say theirs without the planet name. :)

What about sparkling wide pressure in Sailor Moon S?
xena1fan 2 years ago
true but isn't sometimes called "Jupiter Thunder Clap Zap!"? IDK if those are two separate moves
BASEJOCK11 2 years ago
They're the same move. She said thunder clap in R and Sparkling wide in S. BTW, Do you know why it's called sparkling wide pressure?
xena1fan 2 years ago

Hmm, I didnt know that was the original pronunciation, I've always thought it was Awkwa everywhere. Ok.

Besides the dub, there is also a difference in sound effects; those used to the japanese subbed SM episodes will note this difference.
