not wide enough mr. consumed? I've made bombs smaller than that in my basement for fun. The battery pack on those devices is big enough to hold quite a strong explosive. All you need is a 9v battery, any kind of timekeeping device, some explosive agent, and about 8 inches of wire.

I don't know about building damage. I suppose it would depend on what they were made of and what you used as an agent. The right explosive agent probably would,but not simple stuff. However to hurt people with an explosion is very easy. Look at most terrorist bombs. The majority of smaller attacks still utilize shrapnel and debris from the explosion as the main way of hurting people. Scary, isn't it?
