  • sharpen your knife.... and dont wastea whole minute peeling leaves off just take a knife and slice around it....

  • damn, u almost cut the tip of your index finger at the end!!

  • This is not how you prep an artichoke, this is how you harvest a heart.

BTW "chef" keep holding your knife like that if you dislike fingers.

  • If you're going to eat them alone, then you can do the leaf-by-leaf way. But when you are using them in another recipe, you have to get rid of the fibrous leaves and the choke, otherwise you have a fibrous mess.

  • NOOOOOO! painful. the heart of the artichoke is arguably the yummiest bit but you're missing out on so much nutritional goodness discarding the leaves and then it's bit like unwrapping a pass the parcel as you make your way to the heart!

  • Um, people he is trying to show how to get to the artichoke heart. You can always reserve the leaves for eating, sheesh.

  • this guy is killing me with the hacking away at the vegetable!! You don't really need to waste the entire vegetable!!! Oh, he is missing so many layers of yummy. Bad advice!

  • this guy wastes the half of the artichoke!

  • This was useful. Getting all the leaves off takes a while. I like the way you quarter it then cut the choke out. Another demonstration had me scooping the choke out with a spoon. Very difficult. I had just abot given up on doing them myself until I saw this. I may try to do this and marinate the quarters in oil and vinegar maybe like for an antipasto or something.

  • @johnebii: The artichoke is too much of a hassle to eat it. You got to take all the sharp leaves off . Then you have to shave off the furry hairy parts. Too much work for me. Not worth trying. Why do people bother with this plant?

  • @OS253 i went through a phase wanting to do everything the traditional way. but now i buy these marinated in oil and vinegar at the store, empty them into a bowl at home, add a little of my own spices, and enjoy. they taste wonderful. that's why i was willing to go through the trouble.
